Microsoft appears to be launching a pilot rewards program for Xbox Live, according to emails sent out to a number of subscribers over the past day.
The email, sent to a number of our readers and forwarded to Kotaku, says that the sign-up period for the program closes on Oct. 21.
But it's unclear what exactly the program will entail. It could be anything from rewarding frequent gamers with Microsoft points to discounts for frequent point buyers.
So who got the email here?
I did, it arrived a little after midnight, and I noticed it and replied in around 30 minutes after that.

I got the email as well ,but my 360 RROD'd over the 3 year mark and after about a month of dealing with the Service company they sent me a full refund of what I paid around launch . Decided not to get another one for now , canceled my Live , and got rid of all my games. I did go ahead and respond to it since I am curious though .

Odd that you would even get the email, considering you canceled your Live account.
OTOH, there's conjecture at Kotaku that this program is being directed towards "moderate" Live Gold members (those that may or may not renew) , rather than hardcores with 4+ years of membership and massive gamerscores.
For example, I've been a member for less than a year, and my gamerscore is pretty pathetic...around 1200. Also, my Live membership will be coming up for renewal in a few months.
I'm also very curious as to what rewards this program will offer. The whole "free stuff" thing gets me all tingly, actually. :P

Looks pretty cool. I do buy a decent amount, and this is a nice bonus that will go along with keeping my Gold account active.
Alas, I'm on the Grey tier...

The only thing that I'm really missing from the Green tier vs. the Grey tier is the 200 point Gold Renewal bonus. I have little interest in Netflix, and I've bought many games on the Live Marketplace.
It's unfortunate that wasn't offered on the Grey tier, but it's also not like I'm paying anything either.
