On one hand, it is annoying, on the other hand it makes it easier for me to pick this up as an extra show from this season, so I'm for it. Just glad to finally have the confirmation of when it would be coming out!

Wow, two full months later? That's interesting, and not something I've seen with any of the other shows I've looked into.
Not going to be able to spring for this one though, I'm already locked in for two Fall shows (Railgun, Todoke). If I got a third (which I shouldn't) it'd be Sasameki.

I figures some details would be available soon since they're doing signing and handshake sessions in Animate stores and you get goodies for pre-ordering, which would require something to pre-order. The linked page gives details on the events, as does this page:
http://www.kiddygirl-and.com/info/091126.html
I'll see if I can dig up any more details now..and I can't :(

I am curious to know why DVD and Blu-ray don't release on the same date :rolleyes:The only thing I can think of off-hand as a "non-production-glitch-related" explanation would be to get the DVDs out there for rental a bit before the Blu-Rays come out to offer some extra enticement? Incredibly unlikely, but not impossible, would be if they decide to add English subs to the Blu-Rays or something. At least the good thing is that they're soliciting them both at once so that people don't start buying DVDs only to be told a bit later they bought the less-than-ideal version.

I just hope no one wastes resources to bring this to the US. The first two episodes were a painful experience..

They were awesome and it only got more awesome. Because Kiddy Girl-and is awesome. And thus is should be licensed. Due to awesomeness. So there!

On the other hand, quite a few of us like the show.

Well, that's your choice :) I loved Kiddy Grade and had high hopes for this one, but the pantsu overdose in Girl-And was too much for me. Add to that the utter, complete and total pointlessness of the first two episodes, AND the fact that the main character is retarded and loud... But to each his own.

And thats fine, but you shouldn't say that a show should not be licensed simply because you personally did not like it.
Also "pantsu overdose"? Seriously? Man, Kiddy Girl isn't even close to having the most panties even of shows airing this season.

Ep 1 of Grade probably had more panties than any ep of Girl-and so far anyway.
And Girl-and has a teleporter, thus it is awesome by definition.

Yeah, but the first episode of Grade wasn't CENTERED plot-wise on pantsu. Or pumpkin-whatever-it-was.
And anyway, I wasn't aware I'd be read that literally. Obviously I was expressing MY hopes on the matter and not saying what "should" and "shouldn't" happen. But considering how slow US are getting blu ray releases, I sincerely hope they license better titles before they get to this one.

"Awesome" will probably never be a word that I'd choose to describe KGirl-and, unless it goes through some major improvements. Even with the latest episode, it's still pretty bad (but maybe all of the prior episodes with an incredibly-annoying Ascoeur, and a slightly-annoying Dia have now colored my view of the series). It's got a much deeper hole to climb out of than Kiddy Grade did as it passed the mid-point of the series. It's now on an upswing, but will it improve sufficiently?
Still, I won't complain if some R1 company decides to license it, but as things stand now, they won't be getting any of my money. Licenses are good!
Hmm... The only Japanese release currently getting my money is the latest Negima OVA series, since I have a hard time seeing that get licensed because of its manga ties.

Seriously, if you don't like the show just drop it already.

Agreed. I don't think I'd still be watching (and complaining) about a show 8 episodes in if I disliked two of the three main characters. Not unless I was getting some other source of pleasure from it, and Ingraman's many posts in the discussion thread seem to indicate he's most certainly not.
Watching things I actually enjoy seems like a much better use of time.

Or maybe he could just watch it WITHOUT hating OR liking it too much, mhm? And there are other reasons. For example, I hated it profoundly, but when it's all out, I'll watch it (with revulsion, I guess) because of Kiddy Grade.

If it doesn't get a Kiddy Grade-like improvement in the early teens, I will. I've put up with more-painful anime in the past for far longer while waiting for an improvement that never came; I won't give up on it yet, but I'm not optimistic. ^_^

I do like the third main character and some of the secondary/tertiary characters. I'd like to see more about how this relates to KG's duo, too.
Watching things I actually enjoy seems like a much better use of time.I'm not watching any anime for three or four nights a week this season (which I should be using to catch up on my backlog, but much of that I've seen already in other forms), so I can spare 20 minutes a week.

Not going to happen then, as ANN has the series only going (possible spoilers, ep titles listed and will be updated with new ones) 12 eps (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=7612&page=25).

It'd be cool if it went longer, as I want to see where it goes once it gets rolling plot wise.

The guy on twitter specifically says 12 volumes though, and that is more likely 24 episode to me - Kiddy Grade was 24 episodes over 12 DVDs and I don't see Kadokawa putting three episodes on two discs when they could make you pay for 13.

Keep in mind that Haruhi was in this timeslot previously and it had 28 episodes, so a show with 24 episodes will allow a new show to begin in that same timeslot in the first week of April (with the normal season start). Anyway, all should be made clear shortly when the solicitations are released through the usual channels (since Kadokawa shows are pretty much always solicited in a giant batch).

Sometimes I could go on a killing spree in Kadokawa.
http://www.kiddygirl-and.com/dvdgoods/dvd_case01.html
There's an extra disc with the LE DVD that isn't included with the more expensive blu-ray, but there's only two episodes (which might somewhat explain the delay in the BD release date?)

Wow, that isn't even funny, that's just nuts. Slightly tempted by the BD release with three eps to a disc, but it's not like they haven't added an extra thousand yen on top to compensate. I'll probably not bother, with the number of shows to choose from this season that I would quite like to buy.

12-04-2009, 07:54 AM
It get's worse - all three versions have different covers (the LE DVD has Megumi Kadonosono art, the regular has Yukari Higa and the Blu-ray has Gotoh). There's also postcards and shitajiki with the LE DVD that you don't get with the blu-ray. You do get two stops on the Animate tour with the Blu-ray and only one on the DVD, but given the episode count is lower on the DVDs thus the disc count higher, that will probably be on the 2nd DVD anyway.
I've translated the full details as best I can, corrections welcomed

--edit--
Thinking about it, it is possible that the two postcards with the LE DVD have the cover art from the other two releases - they included the cover art from the single DVDs with the Uta-Kata DVD boxes in this fashion. But you still need to double-dip if you want the extras as well as the HD.

With each passing release I find myself hoping more and more that the shows I want aren't distributed by Kadokawa. :sd: They can be such bastards.
And Kadonosono >>>>> Gotou, so BD buyers get shafted there too. =( Though I haven't had a chance to look at the exact images and I'm not going anywhere with "kiddy" in the URL at work.

The art itself hasn't been published yet, but I tend to favour Meg's stuff too. Yukari Higa has done some nice colour art for the series also.
