This thread is for anything Taiko no Tatsujin. A rather fun rhythm game. From the 1999 arcade game to current/upcoming games and the one American release Taiko Drum Master.

So I received Taiko no Tatsujin Wii sometime ago. Compared to Donkey Konga, it's not too different. It's a tad harder. You use sticks and there's only the inside and side of the drum. And I don't think the side is big enough. Also in DK you would get a gold rank if you got the noruma to 100%. This game doesn't fuck around. Here you have to have to get a perfect combo. One bad or miss and that's it. Granted you can still clear the song, but you'll have to settle for silver. And that just irritates me. Here's the songs I did:

Sengoku Sangen-Not much to say I beat it on futsuu difficulty

Kikyoku~seasons of Asia-Also cleared on futsuu difficulty. It was rather hard.

Angel Dream-I actually like this song. Also managed to clear on futsuu, the sad part is it took me a kabillion tries to get a gold, and I started to hurt my eyes. And it sucks when you don't screw up until the very end. Just gotta stay calm.

Sakuranbo-This seems to be a very popular song. As it's not the first time I heard. But of course it's a cover song

Break the Chain-Never saw Kamen Rider. But this song was awesome.

Together-Of course I know this one as it's the first Pokemon D/P OP. A nice treat.

PreCure5 Full Throttle GO GO!-It might be coincidence I first hear the Pretty Cure OP in these Namdai games before I check out the actual anime. I still haven't finished up the first, but might check this out once I do. Easy and Catchy.

Motteke Sailor Fuku-Usually the songs in these games are covers, but this sounds like the exact same OP from Lucky Star. Not that I disapprove, but if it is, wonder how they got away with it.

Yatterman no Uta-This was the main reason I got this game. Boy, was I disappointed. This is the worst cover song I have ever heard.

Mickey Mouse March-Usually I don't say stuff like this, but I played this one for the lulz.

Super Mario Bros-I'm convinced that playing along to the music is a greater challenge than actually playing through any Mario game. And it sounds like you're listening to someone playing the game as it goes from Overworld, Underworld, Starman, Underwater, Castle, and Princess Rescue complete with SFX. It's great to see 8-bit Mario, Luigi, and Bowser fidgit dance.

Do-Dai-Another song with characters from the game dancing along. Shame Yukiho isn't one of the five girls dancing on stage, but when you're score gets better and the crowd starts jumping, it's amusing to see her digging with a shovel with glasses girl holding a harisen.

Kamisama no Birthday-Another song with the cast of idolm@ster dancing along. I like this song more than the prior one.

Kamikaze Remix-Never played nor care for Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidge Racer. This was a unique one.

Soul Calibar IV Immaculate Pledge-Never played this one either (just II). Sounds like standard RPG music coming from a fighting game.

I'm going to play these again on a harder difficulty. Strangely enough the harder difficulties are the most fun. On the easiest there's too little drumming. And I think the peripheral is already starting to get some rare 'n tare.

I would imagine Bandai have the rights to the anime itself and can license the music. It's the same with the earlier editions where they had the Haruhi ED music as one of the tracklist.

Saa, hajimarudon.

Some things I didn't mention that might be worth it is for one, this game has no title screen. Yeah, there's the start game at the Wii menu. After that it's a disclaimer and after that, you select how many players and your save file. Another comparison to Donkey Konga is you don't have currency in this game. Or so I think. So rather than buying the drum sounds you earn them as you level up your drum character. Currently he evolved into a boy. I like the Fart set, but it sounds distracting. So I went with the Thunder set once I obtained it. Now I feel like Cinnamon from Snow Fairy Sugar. I wish there was a Mario set. And I tried some more songs on the Futsuu difficulty.

Sakuranbo-Messed up here and there.

Break the Chain and Together-The only ones so far I did not have to restart. Strangely enough Together was star easier. Go figure.

Motteke Sailor Fuku-Like Angel Dream, this has a six star difficulty level. But what's strange is I only messed up once or twice. Either it was because this one was a little slower, had more red symbols than blue, or I'm actually getting better at this game.

I'm thinking about trying the songs I don't care for. Majority being J-pop. But TRAIN-TRAIN.

Yeah, I love these games, ever since playing the arcade one I've been addicted. Playing Go My Way on the arcade was pretty much the reason I got into idolM@ster. I love to plonk on the PSP or DS versions when I've got a few spare minutes.

Anyone know if the Wii version is any good without the accessory? I'd love to pick them both up, but they looking prohibitively expensive, but together the song selection looks pretty good and I do play the portable versions without.

So I finished up all the other songs on the easiest difficulty. My drum evolved into a kindergarten student. I didn't know the Galaxy Express 999 theme was in this. It's one of those anime I need to get around to watching. 1) it's categorized as J-POP and 2) those 9's look like lower case q's. I did try the Wii remote sideways for a couple songs. It's actually a little easier. Especially with the blue symbols because it's just the push of the "2" button and red "1". It's also easier to rack up points for those long notes. But strangely enough I prefer the drum accessory because it's the reason for this game. But at least you're given a choice. If this game was made by Nintendo, they wouldn't give you the option for the Classic Controller but only the Wii remote or +Nunchuk.

I did unlock some more songs. One in particular is Stage0 ac11. It's quite catchy but if you've gotten 100% on the "noruma", this song has the nerve to fake you out. But you know what this game needs especially since it's from Bamco? Some Tales of music. Perhaps it was in one of the earlier games.
