Mayoi Neko Overrun!

I'm reluctant to start new thread, because I assume someone already picked up on something if I'm getting around to noticing it, but I checked and couldn't find one.

Anywho, light novel series that is being turned into an anime for this Spring and a manga (ToLOVEru's Yabuki Kentarou getting approximately no time off after that being canceled before being given this to do) starting in a few weeks' time. Anime PV is now up here (http://www.patisserie-straycats.com/special.html).

I'm blatantly stealing the story set-up from elsewhere: The story revolves around Takumi Tsuzuki, a boy who lives with his older "sister" Otome, although the two have no blood ties between them. Otome manages a run-down confectionary store called Stray Cats. One day, Otome picks up a mysterious beautiful girl off the streets.

edit: also, is 2010 going for 'year with most anime titles ending in "!"'?

I'm intrigued. From the promo, it looks like my favorite character will be either Fumino or Chise (but, from the looks of it, not both of them :( ).

Actually it seems TLR got canceled because he couldn't keep up with the demands of putting out chapters weekly. Far less work to put out a 25 chapter per month as opposed to weekly chapters of 18 pages. Not to mention he doesn't have to redraw any scenes for the tanks since Jump Square doesn't censor nipples. I didn't actually know that until I read chapter one of Mayoi Neko...

Anyway looks like a generic but fun romcom from the first chapter but as long as it's fun it's cool. Looking forward to the anime. Btw the VA cast was announced awhile back.

Well, I didn't give a reason in my post for why it was cancelled (so "actually" is a bit of a weird way to start), but I was under the impression that he couldn't continue with TLR due to being under serious personal pressure thanks to his wife being batshit insane, leaving him, and him having to care for his daughter on his own.

Those are possibly the most generic character design I can remember ever seeing. Cute cats and amusing "meow" song though. Eh maybe I'll give it an episode.

That seems like some major hyperbole. They're fairly normal overall but drawn very well, so I find them quite attractive. Even if Tsuzuki Otome looks like a carbon copy of Miura Azusa from Idolmaster, at least in the PV. And the Nya~ song is amazing. Plus for whatever reason I find this one of the best titles in a while. "Mayoi Neko Overrun!" just sounds so... awesome.

I didn't say they were necessarily bad. Just they seem so generalized? I dunno how to put it quite. They just remind me of other characters I know I have seen before but can not think of where from. Well actually something about the designs reminds me of Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, and I HATED that show.

That Mayoi is definitely part of the reason I like the name. Anything even incidentally related to her must be awesome!
