What was removed from the death note anime?

I heard that a lot of the second half of the manga wasn't included in the anime, could someone elaborate on this? I read all twelve volumes of the manga a year back, but I cant seem to recall anything major being cut. (Terrible memory)

One of the major things that was cut from the Death Note anime was the aftermath after Light's death after Near reveals that he is Kira.. In fact, Light's death is somewhat different in the anime in that he died while trying to escape from the police in his weakened body rather than trying to have Ryuk pull a deus ex machina in order to save him.
