It won't be long before the next season starts and we can once more worship the greatness that is Yuno. Along with the rest of the cast. Heck, we'll even get some new characters.

Yeah, I decided it was close enough and darn it, I feel it's my destiny to make this thread. It's going to be a long week waiting for the first episode to air. Hopefully just as Kampfer and Nyan Koi were shown in 16:9, this will be as well.

One thing we wont be short of for this third series of Hidamari Sketch is avatars... :)

Without competition my most anticipanted new series of the season, and probably my most anticipated of 2010, unless I'm forgetting something blatantly obvious.

Without competition my most anticipanted new series of the season, and probably my most anticipated of 2010, unless I'm forgetting something blatantly obvious.

It would take a very powerful series being announced for airing in 2010 to surpass the level of anticipation I have for more Hidamari Sketch.

K-ON! might have had a chance, but there's no way of knowing yet if we'll be getting season 2 in 2010 or later. Actually even if it were announced for 2010, I'd probably still give it second place.

Also, as much as I love GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class, it's hard to compare a mere one or two OVA episodes to an entire cour.

So, yeah as of current Hidamari Sketch wins for me.

So we start off the third season with all the girls getting up. Hiro might have the best body in the series.

Heh, it looks like something of Yuno's broke.

Must be one of those hectic mornings.

There are stars in the opening. Yes, there is definitely somne focus on stars. Actually I think the stars might be getting too much screen time. Still the song is decent, but like any other song I may need to listen to it again.

(It's the return of Doki Doki Visual Commercials. Just a random side note)

Yuno gets depressed by what she sees on her test paper.

Yoshinaya confirms for us that she has yet to change.

Is Yuno's chest larger or am I just perverted?

Well, at least Yuno managed to do better this time.

Heh, the variety of outfits we get to see Yuno in this episode is awesome.

I get the feeling they're preparing rooms for new people. At least I hope that's the case.

This is definitely a set up episode, but set up episodes like this work quite well.

Nazuna finally makes her appearance in the episode. The girl seems to be quite nervous.

On the other hand, Nori seems to be more together.

It looks like they finally ran into each other.

Yuno has her bath, it's a real episode! They seem to be getting bolder and bolder in terms of what they show.

Ah, the classic show photos of the characters while everyone talks to each other.

The ending song is nice is off to a nice start.

This episode was a thousand times wonderful! It's great to get Hidamari Sketch back, and more than just back, it's continuing. :)

Very much a set-up episode, but was nice to finally sort-of meet Nazuna and Nori. It'll be interesting to see if they get paired off together like Hiro/Sae and Yuno/Miya did, or if they really do act as two. I've not seen enough to really get to know them obviously, but Nazuna looks like she's going to make me want to hug her, and Nori will make me laugh.

I'm interested at which will be which in regards to the two new character symbols. There's a funny face and a computer mouse.. Nori looks to be the one that would be more tech-savvy to me, but appearances can always be decieving, and a funny face doesn't really suit Nazuna at first glance either. The "no smoking" mug however fits the Landlady perfectly. :)

So we start off the third season with all the girls getting up. Hiro might have the best body in the series.
That's not entirely true. Sae has the best body, in that Sae clearly has Hiro's body.

I'd completely forgot just how stitch-centric Hidamari Sketch was, I saw at least five possible stitch ops waiting to be taken advantage of in the episode, and godknows how many avatars Suika and I will make between us...

Not only do I want Nazuna and Nori paired together, I want Hiro and Sae to "educate" the two. Heck, I like to pretend that off screen Yuno and Miyako to extra credit lessons.

Heh, I still need to finish capturing from the episode. Sort of got delayed because I decided to do a massive catch up of other series.

As well as the fact I'm working on another avatars for another Winter series right now.

It would probably be for the best if I let you handle the stitches since you have more experience. I think I'll be fine continuing with Jewel Pet. Even if the last stitch I attempted end up having me decide to just give up on it for now.

The way Yuno said "stew" and those other words in English was quite adorable and even attractive.

It seems like they're more willing to cover multiple dates in a single episode than they were in the first series I'm still expecting there to be plenty of time jumps. Especially given that next time would be 4/6, 4/7, and 7/19

I figure it this way, if I've only watched that scene 50 times then I have not seen it enough. (If you think 50 is not dramatic enough then raise to whatever you desire)

On a side note, I think I figured out which symbol is for which of the new girls, Given that they talk about how the girl in room 103 wanted an internet connection and that girl is Nori..... So there is a good chance she is the "mouse".

That was a fun start to the season. :)

We get some time with the existing characters and then a brief look at the new ones. Hard to say how I'll like the new ones, but a cute compter geek and a cute shy girl are nice starts.

Nice partents who take the 4 girls out to lunch, but aren't there when their daughter arrives. :)

As someone who's only seen the first season, this Nazuna character seems awfully reckless.

I mean, there was Yuno...and now to introduce an even more adorably awkward and childish character? My God, man...that's madness. The worldwide costs of broken and damaged nutbladders could end up in the millions...not to mention the casualties from moe-induced heart attacks.

Well, Nori does have short twin tails going in her favor. Still in the long run it doesn't matter how much we love Nori vs Nazuna. What matters is how soon the two fall in love with each others. Then they can join the other couples.

Hiro and Sae. Yuno and Miyako. The two that denied (I want to pretend it was just denial) they were dating. Mami and Mole Girl. Background Girl 17 and Background Girl 20. Ok, maybe I'm stretching the last one.

More Hidimari is a good thing and the first episode was as enjoyable as always. The scene where Sae tells Hiro her first impression of her and the landlady's response made me laugh. I don't have much to say about the new characters yet as we didn't really see a whole lot of them this episode. One of them being into computers sounds very promising though.

Episode 1:

February 27th ~ March 4th!
- Yuno! Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno Yuno!
- Miyako Hiro Sae! Miyako Hiro Sae! Miyako Hiro Sae! Miyako Hiro Sae!
- And broken plates. I loved the animation with Yuno's feet hanging over the bed.
- We get the symbols for Nazuna and Nori! A computer mouse (she's into graphic design maybe?) and uh... a fake glasses+nose thingie? Also, lol Shaft. Wonder how long they'll make us wait for a real OP? I ean, it hardly even features Nazuna or Nori. Ah Shaft, kings of NOT BEING DONE.
- Oh god Miyako is a genius. Gram, Grammar, G[r/l]amorous!
- They graded it wrong! ::glimmer of hope:: You should have gotten a 22. :sd:
- Name all the ingredients in English before eating. Heh.
- The ever sexy Yoshinoya-sensei! "I LOVE YOU!"
- Yuno is defeated by English.
- Ahahaha, Sae. <3 You are a student!
- BWAHHAH! English has consumed her. I could listen to Asuma Kana engrish ingredients at me all day.

April 1st!
- Full occupancy. I LOVE THE SOUND OF THAT.
- Heh, poor Yuno. Miyako doesn't hesitate at all to agree that the new girls will be taller.
- Looooove is in the air! Sae's first impression of Hiro is glorious. I bet you were thinking a lot more than that, Sae.
- Landlady's symbol is a no smoking sign. Heh.
- Hidamari-sou koins the IT revolution! A bit late... Man, I cannot even IMAGINE living without an internet connection, let alone without a computer.
- Hah. Nearly spit my food out when Miyako goes, "In Ternet!"

April 3rd!
- Yuuno in a cute purple skirt~ Yuno's legs~
- These are not the new tenants they expected!
- Nazunaaa!!! Awwww, nobody is there to greet her. :sd: Holy crap she's adorable.
- Noriiiii!!! She looks like she'll get along well with Miyako.
- And... finally...
- They meet!
- Very new seiyuu for Nazuna, Omigawa Chiaki. She's only done Jun in Arashi and Maka in Soul Eater. Ah, I actually didn't like her much at all as Maka, but I didn't have an issue with her as Jun. I guess she's improved, or maybe Maka just wasn't the kind of role she's good at. Nazuna doesn't look like she'll talk a whole lot anyway.
- Nori's Harada Hitomi is also pretty new. Her only real role before this season was Tomoe in Sasameki in the Fall, and that was a great character.
- Also, NAKED YUNO.
- Yeah I think this role is a beter fit for Omigawa.

ED! ...lol Shaft. Damn the song is nice though. Looks like I know one Winter season CD I'll be importing.

And wow, nice Sae image at the end.

HIDAMARI SKETCH IS BACK! You are the best show of the season, oh yes you are! Now hurry up and list the BDs (or DVDs at least)! Want to order!

and uh... a fake glasses+nose thingie?

While it does look like that, it's probably supposed Nazuna's hair ornament and the part of her hair below that's a very tiny pony tail.

Suwako Moriya
01-14-2010, 04:10 PM
It's time for Nori and Nazuna to spend quality time together. I get the feeling that Nori will be exactly what Nazuna needs.

Let's walk in on the attempted murder of Miyako.

Oh, nice, it's Misato footage.

Eating cake together is good.

Nazuna is cute, Nazuna has a nice hair ornament, I'll say stuff like this to distract people from the fact I started thinking about her chest.

I think Nori has confused Yuno.

Nazuna, worship the amazing hair of Hiro.

Nori has discovered the not-completely awake Hiro.

Nazuna seems like she needs a hug. I'm not sure if Nori was much help in this case.

Date Switch time.

Yuno is brushing her hair. Yuno discovers that Miyako's hair is on fire.

That's a lot of cards, Hiro.

Yuno is confused by twins! We have twins with side pony tails? Side pony tails and twins go well together.

Ah, so they're going to have their hair done by twins.

Yuno looks interesting with her hair pulled back like that.

Is Miyako trying to pretend-swim?

They're rubbing in the fact that Yuno's shorter.

Yuno's day dreaming now.

Miyako has shiny hair.

Yuno is blinded by her own reflection.

Hiro and Sae get to see the shiny hair of Miyako.

Yuno's bath scene. I wonder if Nazuna and Nori will get their bath scenes eventually. Maybe they can save time by.... do I even need to say it?

The ending isn't exactly that animated (yet), but it's definitely a different image this time. I think this one works better. Save for there being no Nori and Nazuna.

Actually, if we're going to get an ending lacking in animation then I think they owe it to us to change the image used each episode. Mix things up a bit as it were.

Poor Nazuna, she's in General Education. I guess this lessens the chance of her being in the same class as Nori then doesn't it? I wonder if Nori will end up with Yoshinaya.

Also, it looks like we might be getting some segments from the previous year even in the new series. Hopefully most of it will be during the second year since Nori and Nazuna need to make up for lost time.

Nazuna's in general education; CRISIS! Okay, not really, but I didn't realize the school was anything but an arts school. It's probably been mentioned before and I've just forgotten.

Miya's conversation dice is a cool idea. Even better was the secret panel after the first years had left. I wonder what sort of conversation she had in mind.

Yuno was really cute when she freaked out upon seeing the twins (who are also very cute). Yuno wants to look more mature while Miyako wants to be a classical beauty. Childish Yuno is the best so she can wait a little longer to look more mature (though I got a laugh about the emphasis on how much longer it took to raise Yuno's height on the stylist chair).

The ending isn't exactly that animated (yet), but it's definitely a different image this time. I think this one works better. Save for there being no Nori and Nazuna.

I knew the ending felt different from last time, I just couldn't figure out why. I guess a new image explains it. I liked the image this time around though I agree Nori and Nazuna need to be in it.

Episode 2:

April 6th ~ April 7th
- Ah, words of wisdom from Yoshinoya? It... actually goes better than expected!
- Still not done with that OP eh, Shaft?
- Nazuna's voice makes me melt.
- Oh god! "Nori... -san!" You know you want to drop the honorific, Nazuna. You and Nori are meant to be together. GET INTIMATE! In all sorts of ways.
- "The weirdos have already graduated!" ...says who? :sd: But yay, excuse for a sexy shot of Misato-senpai!
- Gaaaaaaaaaaaah, Nazuna is killing me. It's like someone cloned Yuno's adorableness! CAN I REALLY HANDLE TWO AT ONCE!?
- Nori likes HTML! lol. Also, love the Windows colors in the background. =P
- Hahaha, oh man. Nori wants fiber optic! She can't handle that lame cable (if Hidamari-sou even rates that). And Yuno thinks it's... XD lol
- "She has really bouncy boobs and a habit of stripping!" You can't even claim Miya is giving them the wrong idea. She's pretty much spot on. :sd:
- Hmm, Nori is taller than Hiro. I wonder how he measures up to Sae.
- The older four have a sleepover in Yuno's room! Yuno and Miya in bed together! I can only imagine what debauchery went on! =D ...maybe not.
- GASP!!!!! NAZUNA ISN'T AN ART STUDENT! This was unexpected! How interesting. Maybe they can convert her?
- Fffffffffffffffffuck, Nazuna, the moe levels are killing me. Hooly shit.
- I love the under-table shot.
- OLIVE! ...I can't remember if that whole bit was animated or if I just read it in the little I've read of the manga. Guess I'll find out. And yes, Nazuna's hair is wonderful. Probably my favorite hairstyle of the bunch.

July 19th
- Oh, we're getting it now. So I just read it in the manga, heh.
- Ah yes, Miya sets her hair on fire. :sd:
- Wow, there's sure a lot of focus on bare feet in this season. Which is fine, as they all have cute feet. Even if I'm not into feet, cute is still cute.
- Hiro's point cards!
- The Olive twins! <3 <3 Oli and Ve! :sd:
- Yuno without her X's, gasp.
- "Please make me look mature!" Oh you're fine just as you are, Yuno.
- Hahah, the chair raising bit. Up... up... up... up some more...
- X ☆☆☆
- Miya's hair sparkles!
- I like the way their noises are shaded this season... I don't remember seeing that before.
- Topless Miya!
- Bathing Yuno! She wonders if she's "matured" a little... by the curves faintly visible behind the steam as she's slipping into the bath, I'll say yes!

Oh hey, no OP yet but we do have the ED! Well sort of. It's still very simplistic (is that finalized?) but it's an improvement.

Nazuna's voice makes me melt.

It's interesting that this is only the third role for Chiaki Omigawa and probably my favorite for for her so far. Yes, I'll admit being in one of my favorite series does help.

Never mind the fact, I could never finish the other two series in question. For the record, her portrayal of the characters she played in those series was never the problem.

Oh god! "Nori... -san!" You know you want to drop the honorific, Nazuna. You and Nori are meant to be together. GET INTIMATE! In all sorts of ways.

Speaking of which, the other four should set good example in order to encourage them.

Gaaaaaaaaaaaah, Nazuna is killing me. It's like someone cloned Yuno's adorableness! CAN I REALLY HANDLE TWO AT ONCE!?

Some challenges are worth taking.

GASP!!!!! NAZUNA ISN'T AN ART STUDENT! This was unexpected! How interesting. Maybe they can convert her?

Her first task after conversion should be to draw a picture of Nori.

"Please make me look mature!" Oh you're fine just as you are, Yuno.

Exactly, she's got that design that appeals greatly to me.

And I just LOVE the song. Damnit CDJapan, hurry up and list the CDs! WANT TO ORDER NOW.

Heh, I still need to get the ED Single for X365. May as well since I already have the Original OP, Original ED, and X365 OP. Although that means further delaying series in order to do so.

There's just no way any Winter series can touch Hidamari. It's already on a level all its own.

The irony is that the only series that are on the same level of enjoyment for me as Hidamari are shows I watched in part because of Hidamari being so good and thus influencing me to watch more shows of that type. Although one could argue that certain shows I watched before Hidamari were part of the influence to try Hidamari.

On a somewhat related side note, I'm thinking that since the first season is now officially out in the U.S., that maybe we should follow the idea that's done with some other series and create a new discussion thread for it. I say this even though I already finished disc 1 and am now watching disc 2.

Heh, not like it matters. I can either use it an excuse to re-watch episodes yet again or I can just rely on memory to make comments on the episodes.

Yuno is doing stretches.

It seems like people are waking up.

Nazuna is shy and nervous.

Hiro is still sleeping.

It's ceremony time. Which includes Yoshina being Yoshinaya.

That's one way to decide the seating arrangement.

It's Mami and Mole Girl. Give Mami's lover a name already!

Yoshinaya's methods are not exactly acceptable.

Yes, I'm paying attention to Nori and Nazuna's figures.

Seems like Yuno is trying to make a decision. Also, she's reading some post card now.

Yuno has problems in a book store. Nice eye catch.

Yuno and Sae spending time together.

I spot a Natsume!

Yuno was sitting on a cat. Yuno and Sae are having coffee together.

Oh, I recognize that girl. That gives me hope that they'll be animating that part.

Sae is with her wife.

This time the bath is pink.

Seems like it's the same ending animation as the previous episode. Was hoping it would either alternate or be finalized with Nori and Nazuna.

I'm not sure if it will be more often, but I get the feeling the current format is a compromise between allowing screen time for the new girls, while still covering some of the remaining stuff from year one.

Nori and Nazuna need to meet some of the already established characters including Chika. Heck, they need an episode focused on Chika and her school life.

As for the year 0 thing. It would be wrong for them not to animate that. It either needs to be included during the TV run or a special.

- Heh, damn. I saw two lumps in Sae's bed and hopedhopedhoped one was Hiro.
- OH SHIT EVEN BETTER. ::Hiro asleep in bed:: "..Sae..." YES.
- So we're picking up right from the first half of ep 2 (which was the 6th nd 7th). Which is good, because we get more introduction to the new girls.
- Hahaha. Love the principal's speech. Love stripping Yoshinoya.
- Yuno trying to hide her embarrassment, loove.
- Heh, bit from the preview.
- Eyecatch! ...Yoshinoya-sensei is sexy.
- Natsume!! And two cute friends... ah damnit did they have names? The one on the left is Mami, I believe. There is a classmate of Yuno and Miyako's in Jp Wiki named Mami and voiced by Sawashiro Miyuki. All she said here was "Ohayou" but from one word I'm pretty damn sure that's Sawashiro. I guess that would make the other girl Nakayama. I thoght it was announcer girl for a second but the hair is different, and announcer (Toudou) was voiced by Inoue Marina.
- ..Yoshinoya likes to teach with her body.
- Landlady quit again! For a day probably.
- Sae is a "plane"... but that's just fine if Hiro likes it that way!
- Yuno gives her room a makeover!
- て~て~て~て~て~て~
- Hahah, more roles need to get Asuma Kana to go, "Wow!"
- Oh god! <3 The second Yuno woke up, I KNEW she was going to slam into her wall.

December 10th!
- Looks like flashbacks will be the way we delve into the remaining pre-Nazuna/Nori stories.
- Day-trader Yuno!
- lol. The akahon bit is kinda weird after that recent episode of Bantorra. :sd:
- Heh! I remember this bit from the manga - I thought it'd already been animated.
- Natsume! Natsume! Maaaan, in almost any other situation I would be so hardcore about Sae x Natsume, but... I just can't. Hiro is way way too perfect for Sae. I'm sorry, Natsume. ;_;
- Ah, yes, the drink matched to your side. And the cat seat!
- Miyako's life plan is so very fitting.
- Hiro zettai ryouiki~~
- Man, this is definitely one of my favorite bits. Finding out Sae was bluffing about drinking it black. Sae seeing that Hiro bought the magazine her story is in. The blushing. Awesome.
- And more bathing Yuno <3

Hmm wonder if this is the finalized ED ani-- well not animation really, is it? Heh. It's still a fitting image though, and god damn I love the song. CD already ordered, but why isnt it out NOW!? WANT!

Haha! Oh shit, the preview is fantastic. Since the ep 2 preview was a real scene in ep 3, could this one be...! Can we be that lucky? (Although her true wife is still Miyako.)

Mami and Mole Girl are cute, and not only does she need a name, they both need to appear more often.
Ah yeah, just to go off what I said in my post, she's only known by her family name, Nakayama. Jp Wiki doesn't have her seiyuu listed, though. Sounds a bit familiar but I can't place it off the top of my head.

Start off with the Yoshinaya and the Principal once more.

Looks like Yuno's exercising isn't a one time thing. Miyako joins her. Hiro is tired.

Nothing like making use of their symbols.

Looks like Nori has already found someone she's familiar with.

Natsume with two others. Two that seem to have an idea what's going on with her.

Natsume is walking with Sae. How long before the Hiro factor kicks in?

Red faced Natsume time.

And there's Hiro. She's all dressed up and ready to impress her lover.

The first years and second years in casual clothes.

Yuno and Miyako playing in Nori's curtains. Curtains that are too short.

Yuno gets measured.

I guess this means they're shopping for curtains. At the very least, they're walking and talking.

Yoshinaya is hiding. Yoshinaya is discovered.

It's time to browse the store. Miyako with a chainsaw seems dangerous.

Yuno concludes she must hold hands with Nazuna. Nice to see this scene animated.

More playing with curtains by Yuno and Miyako.

Seems like Nazuna ended up choosing Nori's curtain. One step closer to marriage.

The first years and second years are back. The curtains are set up.

Hiro and Sae have returned from their date. Yes, I'm going to assume that's what it was.

Hiro chose the same pattern?

And now they're planting stuff. Plants that will one dominate the apartments and then the universe.

Meal time conversation time. Always important to have.

Nazuna needs to find something she can focus on that will give her confidence.

Or maybe she can just focus on Nori's body.

Yuno is bathing. The world is once more complete.

Out of the way text! Yuno's body must never be blocked.

And we have an actual animated ending this time around.

Lots of people riding one bike

Still not enough Nori and Natsume for me this episode... but cute and awesome none-the-less.

Is it even possible for there to be enough of those two? On a side note, one thing I have to wonder with this series will be how the dates will ultimately work.

With the first series, all the dates took place between April (start) and March (End). Which I believe would be the first school year.

The second series had most of the dates take place during the first year for Yuno. Except it was quite clear that the "February" in the first episode of 365 had to take place before the start of the said first year.

In the third series, we have events taking place during both second year and first year. Which now complicates things as it can mean one of two possible scenarios.

A: We'll essentially have to figure out based on certain factors if for example January is from the first or second year.

B: It will be a basic range that starts sometimes during the first year and ends sometime during the second year.

Granted a lot of it depends on how far along the manga is. It's possible that the manga material does not justify having all the months involve the second year.

It would be nice if in addition to the month, we got year 0, year 1, year 2, etc.

I cannot get over how ludicrously well animated this show is.

Seriously. After watching all of the first season (which was improved for DVD!) its still orders of magnitude better.

Anyway, Nazuna and Nori were fantastic this episode (and are going to go on a date!). Nori is really...surprisingly normal. And not in a bad way, she's actually pretty interesting, but she's not obviously a weirdo like the rest. Nazuna is, of course, utterly adorable.

Great little scene with Natsume (hard to believe that in her earliest appearances she came off as a complete bitch), and I feel so sorry for her. They need to introduce a cute kouhai for her.

And the first dinner with all six of them.

And we finally get a real ED sequence, and its FANTASTIC. Nazuna and Nori have really brought this show to a new level.

I'm glad we're getting more of Nazuna and Nori now. They're also finally in the ED, which I'm really, really liking. It's very pretty.

Natsume stole the episode for me though. I laughed at her getting flustered and running away after Sae gave her a cute poise.

I'm so proud of the progress the two are making. If they keep it up, we won't have to wait long for the wedding.

Nori is really...surprisingly normal. And not in a bad way, she's actually pretty interesting, but she's not obviously a weirdo like the rest. Nazuna is, of course, utterly adorable.

Ah, so Nori has taken up the challenging fulfilling the "normal" quota. Although in some shows being normal makes you the oddball. Nazuna makes one want to hug her.

Great little scene with Natsume (hard to believe that in her earliest appearances she came off as a complete bitch), and I feel so sorry for her. They need to introduce a cute kouhai for her.

Watch as she becomes close to a first year. A first year that will spend quality time with Natsume. Then later that first year will have to spend two school years without Natsume.

Natsume is a great example of how additional scenes can improve a character greatly. Ok, sometimes they can make a character worse, but not in this case.

Actually until she got more screen time, I couldn't be sure if she was merely a one-shot fulfilling a role or a reoccurring character. Thankfully, she ended up being the latter.

And we finally get a real ED sequence, and its FANTASTIC. Nazuna and Nori have really brought this show to a new level.

Ending is definitely worthy. As for Nazuna and Nori, what you say about them is true. It's nice to go from a core four of awesome to a core six of (insert better word than awesome here).

Episode 4:

April 15th!
- I don't know if I'm more amused by Yoshinoya's impression of the principal (though Miyako did it so much better) or that she actually thought she'd get away with it.
- I really want to see the girls wear the outfits from the OP star-riding scene in the actual show.
- Yuno is doing her morning exercises again!
- Non-morning person Hiro = <3
- Nori Nori Nori Nori! No surprise she's made a bunch of friends in her class already.
- Holy shit Natsume! Hah, her friends know exactly what she's thinking.
- Oh god, way way too short. Natsume is, no doubt, cursing the fact that Sae lives literally across the street. They were actually sorta striking up a conversation too. Then Sae totally fires one right into her heart when she thanks Natsume for walking her home. Natsume, you are one of the cutest tsundere ever.
- But there's Sae's wife looking very pretty and waiting for Sae to return. Sorry, Natsume. It's just... it's just not meant to be. I'm sure one of your friends can make you happy!
- Every time Nazuna talks I feel like I'm going to pass out from an overabundance of looooooooove.
- Hah, what, Shaft? I think they just accidentally gave Nazuna a couple extra inches of height. She's slightly taller than Nori right now.
- Haha, Nori couldn't help but measure Yuno. And the 100 yen measuring tape was all she needed. :sd:
- Awww... as they're walking to the store, you see the three art girls in back talking about art things while Nazuna is in front by herself. I know they totally aren't trying to exclude her but I still feel bad for her. Her struggle is definitely going to be one of the most interesting aspects of this season.
- Hahaha, love the Miyako/home improvement guy eyecatch.
- LUMBERJACK MIYAKO!
- Elevator... escalator... elevator... escalator... elevator... escalator...
- Ah it's the scene from the preview. You're standing next to another girl and need to strike up a conversation. And you're a Hidamari Sketch character. What do you do? GRAB HER HAND! Too bad we didn't see what came after.
- Man the characters' heights are just all over the place in this ep.
- THAT'S IT! IT'S OFFICIAL! THEY'RE MARRIED! THEY'RE MARRIED!!!! YES!
- Ohhh my god, Nazuna. Your academic-track insecurities tingle my moe senses something fierce. I can't wait to see how she grows over the course of this season. Nori is just a perfect counterweight to her too - I like how she nicely but firmly set Nazuna straight. And there's Yuno standing off to the side nodding her head, and clearly wishing she were the one being all senpai-like here. :sd:
- Ah, the lineup when they greet the landlady is more like it. Miya is tallest, then Nori an inch or two less, Nazuna a little less than Nori, and Yuno way shorter than anyone.
- Hahaha, the landlady is so wonderfully manipulative. None of them have ever figured out how to handle her.
- Norippe! Norisuke!
- Miyako has no curtains? Huh, I'll have to keep an eye out as I continue my S1 rewatch.
- Sae returns from her date with Hiro!
- Haha, the same pattern. Hey, don't worry Nazuna, it just means you have an artist's taste after all! NOW SWITCH PROGRAM TRACKS ASAP!
- Hiro is cooking for six now! Hah, Nazuna and Nori try to be all polite but they need to realize that this is Hiro's job as the mother of Hidamari-sou. But you know, I do kind of hope that everyone (save Miyako I'm sure) pitches in to a monthly grocery fund for Hiro. :sd: If not, she must get a seriously awesome allowance from her parents.
- Nazuna! God, I never, ever, not in a million years, thought anyone could out-cute Yuno in her own show. But damn does Nazuna ever come close.
- Nori just continues to gain huge respect from me. She's SO good at handling Nazuna. I reiterate, they are a PERFECT match.
- Awesome Yuno bathing scene! Yeah, she's definitely growing too. In all sorts of ways.

Oh fuck! WE HAVE AN ED! AND IT IS AWESOME! As if the amazing song weren't enough, we get Nazuna and Nori standing in darkened scenery alone, until everything bursts into sakura petals and reveals the original four, and Yuno beckoning to them... LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE.

***, you're going to be the season thatt finally forces me to make a spot for Hidamari in my Top 10 favorites list, aren't you?

Craaaaap, why did I choose SAL for the order with the Sakura Sakura Saku CD in it? If the B-side is half as good as the Mebae Drive B-side "Rin", I'm going to be putting SO much play time into the disc.

So next week we jump just 5 days ahead but also have a flashback to January. I like that method of handling the existing pre-NazuNori scenes.

Well, it'll be pretty easy to tell. Are Nori and Nazuna in the apartments? Then it's the second school year. The January in next episode has to be January of the first school year because if it were the January before that, Yuno would be living at home.

It's too bad the official site hasn't continued this timeline (http://www.tbs.co.jp/anime/hidamari/1st/03story/story.html) from the first season website. So instead of sleeping I decided to whip something up myself. Argh why do I do these things?

Self explanatory I imagine - of course an April at the end of the list is a year later than an April near the start.

Use the EditGrid link for details.
- Season is obvious, and also contained in Episode.
- By release is the order they were actually released to TV or DVD.
- Year is by available as both calendar and Japanese school year, so April to March in the latter case.
- Comment is various recurring story elements and other things I felt were important, though I left a lot out since I was just skimming through and goddamnit it's already past midnight.

So far February of the second calendar year has the most episodes - or parts of episodes - occurring within it, that being 5. Second April ties it next week, though, with the 4/20 part. I am making an assumption that it's the second April and not the first, but I feel like's that's a safe assumption because if they're doing the second January and the first April, there would be no Nazuna or Nori.

Interestingly, next week's January 31st segment will be next, chronologically, after the very first episode of season 1 (which was January 11th of the 2nd calendar year).

I'm sure I made a mistake somewhere, so if you happen to notice, let me know. I think I'll try to keep this updated through the end of *** (and beyond if they're kind enough to give us more, which they damn well better...)

I was actually in a middle of a discussion with people on another forum and noted that "graduation" doesn't have to mean the end of the older characters. They could always visit or maybe even be given new roles.

For example, Sae and Hiro could end up sharing an apartment together in order to split the expenses. Yuno could be attending a special college. Miyako could end up being Miyako....

I think Hidamari is a show that can easily go on without available manga material for the most part, but once Sae and Hiro graduate we're going to need two new tenants. And I'm betting we wouldn't get an anime of that until the manga introduces them, if it does.

Of course there's no need to rush Nazuna and Nori's first year. We got two cour out of Yuno and Miyako's, so I want at least as much from the new girls. Especially with it being padded out some by B-parts going back to the first year.

When you put it that way, so long as they don't try to speed things up, there will be plenty of time before we have to worry. Plus, in addition to the B-Parts from the first year, there's always the idea of providing some original content as it were.

Heck, the very existence of Chika is anime original content.

If that isn't proof that the anime can in some ways improve on its source, I don't know what is.

Heck, the very existence of Chika is anime original content.

Speaking of which, I can't remember as to whether or not the manga itself ever gave any indication as to the status of Sae having any relatives.

I think so long as the manga has not made it impossible for Sae to have a sister by having a line along the lines of "I'm an only child" then maybe there's a chance she could eventually appear in the manga.

One thing is for certain, the mangaka herself must know about the addition of Chika. I mean she is involved enough to actually be voice acting during a series. So Chika's existence is something she either accepts or approves of.

If that isn't proof that the anime can in some ways improve on its source, I don't know what is.

Indeed, when an anime original character is done right, they can add an extra dimension to the story as it were. Granted if done wrong, they can ruin a story severely. Thankfully Chika was done right.

I guess the key is three things. First, make sure the character can fit in the story. Second, make sure the character is awesome. Third, make sure she has enough screen time to make an impact, but not so much she drowns out everyone else.

On another note, I wonder if sometimes anime original characters don't end up in the manga because they might decide the character should be in the anime only in order to provide the anime with something special.

In any case, this is yet another reminder that we need her to appear at least once in this season. Also, during a time that Nori and Nazuna can meet her.

Starting off with Yoshinaya again?

Rise from your bed Yuno.

Miyako's been exercising while Yuno slept and now Yuno joins her.

Yeah the exercise is a regular thing for Yuno. She wasn't kidding about it.

Even Nori joins them and I can hear cracking?

Miyako has upset Yuno.

It's the lollipop scene from the opening. Yeah, they're definitely in love.

It looks like people are having their physicals. Yuno learns something shocking.

Miyako's pretending is lazy.

I like the idea of focus on Yuno's breasts.

Dinner time conversation and Yuno gets a call. Couldn't make out the name.

Oh, I recognize what's going on here from the manga. She's going to appear! She's going to appear!

Yeah, Yuno must go to school to get her lost cellphone at night.

Yes, it's indeed Arisawa herself! I've been waiting to see her animated since I saw her in the manga.

Arisawa is an amusing one indeed.

Arisawa draws Yuno. All who draw Yuno in a positive way have good taste.

Ah, Arisawa is all red.

Yuno returns home and shows off her cellphone picture. Which just so happens to now be the portrait that was drawn of her.

Huh, Nori is surprisingly stacked. I never noticed that.

I was very amused when Miyako and Yuno realized that if YUNO was that freaked out about the exam, Hiro must be even worse. And then Sae with a lolipop.

Second half was interesting. I think Yuno fell in love with Arisawa-senpai at first sight.

Speaking of Arisawa, who plays her? I should know this, I know.

Poor, Yuno. She's shrinking (except where it counts). Hiro's dieting surprisingly pays off, good for her.

I have to admit I was half-expecting Arisawa to turn out to be a ghost or something. Instead, she's just a very pretty sempai who stays at school really late. Yuno's found someone to aspire to.

For some reason I think of Kasuga ~Osaka~ Ayumu when I look at Arisawa. I know their personalities are different, but....

Also, I have to wonder if the home video release will follow the pattern set by X365 where episodes split into two separate parts become essentially separate episodes labeled X.1 and X.2, where X.1 contains a new preview. In this case, it would be 5.1 and 5.2.

Well, the fact that Nakahara Mai plays Arisawa would explain why I couldn't recognize her so easily. After all, she's one of those seiyuu with some range. Yeah, that's the excuse I plan to use.:P

- Nori just continues to gain huge respect from me. She's SO good at handling Nazuna. I reiterate, they are a PERFECT match.

Rewatching x*** really makes this clear, Nori is the absolute best thing that could ever happen to Nazuna. Nazuna has a distinct tendency to wallow in her own misery (even when its mostly just in her head) and Nori absolutely will not let her do it.

I don't think the other girls, as wonderful and amazing as they are, could do this, at least not as naturally as Nori does. Miyako's come very close a few times with Yuno, though she'd be way too overpowering for Nazuna. Nazuna makes Yuno look assertive and confident.

I think that irrelevant of which I think is the best (I can't decide- but collectively as a franchise HS probably has the best overall...) of the OP/EDs, but I DO know that all of them singing Sketch Switch at the end of x365 was one of the best uses of a OP/ED within an episode I've ever seen (topping the absolute love that I have for the acapella version of the Rental Magica ED they used in the Christmas episode).

Episode 5:

April 20th!
- Yo! Shi! No! Ya! Man, why do I love the shading used for the noses so much? Many anime have tried many ways to deal with the problem that is the anime nose, but this has to be one of my favorite styles.
- SHUWA SHUWA!
- More morning exercises! Don't try too hard to grow taller, Yuno. You're adorable as you are.
- Nori joins the exercise group! She definitely seems like the type, no question.
- "Nazna's [sic] Room" Oh Japan.
- If Yuno is worried about the physical exam, then someone else must be petrified... Hiro-san!
- Oh god... that's creepy. There's a screwed up frame or two riiight at the end of Hiro sparkling and happy after Sae gives her the lollipop. All of a sudden a chunk of Hiro's face (like, her whole jaw) disappears and she turns into this deformed thing I'll never be able to unsee. ;_;
- 2 millimeters! FIGHT NAZUNA, FIGHT!
- Yuno shrank!!!
- Hey it's Mami and Nakayama again. And they forgot Nakayama's mole again... the heck? Shaft just decided to remove it in *** I guess.
- Wait, now it's there, ever so slightly. As if someone was erasing it but didn't finish. How bizarre...
- The imitiations and walking into the wall - so very Miyako.
- Hahah! Yoshinoya-sensei is being serious for once and she's accused of sexual harassment. ... ...not that I didn't interpret it the same way for a second.
- Oh man, Hiro is just the embodiment of bliss right now.
- What!? Another woman in Yuno's life! Who is she? Can we meet her? Is she cute? (Of course she is, it's Hidamari.)
- In the winter? Aw yeah, looks like we know what the second half of this ep will be.
- NAZUNA. CUTE.

January 31st!
- Gah, Yuno on the phone <3
- Oh man, I think this was love at first sight for Yuno.
- Arisawa-senpai! NAKAHARA MAI HOLY SHIT. Another character to add to the "not even secondary characters but still fucking awesome" list with Toudou and Mami and Nakayama and Natsume's friends. Natsume herself I'll put at secondary character level with the Landlady... although honestly I think we've been getting more of Mami and Nakayama than Natsume lately.
- "Let me draw you." In this show, that's like propositioning you for sex!!!
- Oh god, I was kidding Arisawa! Holy shit! Do it, Yuno! GET NAKED!! (But save your virginity for Miyako.)
- Holy shit I now crave Hidamari: The College Years like nobody's business. There has never really been much talk about what happens after Yamabuki High School, but... yeah.
- Haha, there's a Yamabuki-jizou at the college. One of the third years who just graduated must be at that college!
- She sent Yuno the sketch <3
- BATHING!

Arisawa is... Arisawa is amazing. This half episode is one of my absolute favorite in the whole franchise thanks to her. Absolutely perfect episode in so, so many ways.

And this ED, I can't possibly say how much I love it. Only another day or two until I can start looping the full version for hours a day <3

This show is seriously everything that is right and good and fun and awesome about anime.

Seems like Yoshinaya is happy about things.

Miyako, Yuno, and Nori exercise. Apparently Miyako loves herself. Ah, they even get Nazuna involve.

Yoshinaya provides everyone with positive information.

Suddenly we jump from 4/26 to 10/15

Seems like we're getting plenty of Yoshinaya in this episode.

Lots of eye catches this time.

I've got to love Natsume listening to Sae speak about things.

Yes, this is the episode of eye catches.

Miyako runs off with Yuno's slipper.

Ah, we're back to the second year time line.

Yuno and Miyako play catch.

I sense a pattern of "glasses" eye catches.

They notice Nazuna is popular with guys. The core four discuss it with Nori.

And then they go talk to Nazuna. Nazuna who has blushing powers.

These eye catches are going to provide a lot of avatars. It seems like they're being used in place of the usual scenery you'd see between scenes.

Ah Nazuna grabbed Nori's arm as she started to leave. I shall now read too much into this.

Yoshinaya decided to copy Nazuna's hair style.

While it does look like that, it's probably supposed Nazuna's hair ornament and the part of her hair below that's a very tiny pony tail.

-Meeting told through photos is slightly disappointing. But the photo wall is always nice. But who's taking the pictures? Bum-bum-bum.
-All 6 rooms are lit in the ending :) Well ending still picture.

-Olive! Anti chronology trumps flashbacks.
-Miya is not bothered by being in flames.
-Clones scare Yuno.
-Xs removed. That's not Yuno! You stole her soul. Put the Xs back!
-Miya is orgasmically ticklish if you wash her hair? Good to know.
-Miya's flowing golden tresses.
-Yuno goes blind.
-Miya bath time... no bra... I was right.

Well Nori is a software pirate. What effect will technology have on the Hidamari family? Will Sae monopolize the computer to writer her stories? Will Hiro discover weird new cooking recipes? Miyako might eat the microchips.

But man. Nanzua isn't an art student. That shakes Hidamari to the very foundations. Her very presence is a greater threat to the cohesive power of art than any they have yet faced. She must be forced to draw a nude model at the first possible opportunity.

This whole story is the snippets of the lives of a few girls living in an apartment as seen by a little caterpillar. There is no year zero. -Wait wait wait, more chronologically in order days? (ignoring Olive) MADNESS!
Yeah, we've gotten quite a lot of April of the second year so far in the first half cour. Which, I think, makes sense. The first two seasons could be totally out of order and work perfectly well because we were dropped straight into all four girls being together from episode one. And through two seasons, they've developed a real chemistry and history together. Nazuna and Nori are coming all of a sudden into this dynamic setting and so it really helps to get significant focus on their early days so we can get a feeling for their position within Hidamari-sou. With the main four, it wasn't quite as necessary. Everything was new to us, while now it's just two characters.

Now, I do think that jumping ahead a bit with the new girls could work too, especially now that we've got a feel for their personalities. But I don't know how far the manga has gone beyond Nazuna and Nori's introduction. If there's only a volume or two of material with them, it makes sense that they'd have to focus a lot on their early days. After all, go back before March or April of the 2nd year and there can't be any Nazuna or Nori. And you can't introduce two awesome new characters and then cut their screen time back too much! (Well, they could, but Nazuna and Nori are meant to be principal characters, not secondary characters like Natsume or the Landlady or Mami or Nakayama, etc.)

Although I would love to see an episode about Nazuna before she attended Hidamari-sou. Since she lived in the neighborhood, she may have (unknowingly) come across the girls before. An episode from her perspective with constant cameos of the established characters in the background could be awesome. Even better, have it be one of the days we've already seen! The girls are doing something they did in some other episode, and Nazuna just happened to be at the same place...

Now I really want that to happen.

Sad to hear you don't have volume 4 yet. In any case, I wonder how often new chapters of the manga comes out anyway. I guess it's partially dependent on how often the magazine it's part of comes come out.

Not that I know, I mean I've seen Doki Doki Visual Commercials that advertise Hidamari Sketch along side GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class and K-ON!, while also giving a website link (http://www.dokidokivisual.com/), but not like I can read Japanese.

Yet in spite of not being able to read Japanese, I still look at the online 4-Koma that they have and browse the site for the heck of it on occasion.

- Yo! Shi! No! Ya! Man, why do I love the shading used for the noses so much? Many anime have tried many ways to deal with the problem that is the anime nose, but this has to be one of my favorite styles.

- Oh god... that's creepy. There's a screwed up frame or two riiight at the end of Hiro sparkling and happy after Sae gives her the lollipop. All of a sudden a chunk of Hiro's face (like, her whole jaw) disappears and she turns into this deformed thing I'll never be able to unsee. ;_;

I don't like the nose shading. It's just a hair too dark or too warm of a color. Something is not right with it anyway. It bugs me. Especially since half the episode is chibi wide face with no nose what so ever.

GAH! Damn it why did you have to point out that animation error! And why did I go back to check that spot. . . . Moving on:

-Yoshi is on a diet? Oh no! Hiro is infectious.
-The principal is a wise man.
-More morning exercises. Oh, Nori has a bosom. Well compaired to Yuno anyway. Ganbatte Yuno!
-If the physical exam is bothering Yuno... Oh shit! Hiro has starved herself to death.
-"I'm taller. 2mm." Nice try Nazuna.
-And Yuno lost 2mm. Heh
-Miya takes directions well. Miya's impressions are spot on.
-No. No Yuno you were not sexually harassed. Yoshi ment your heart dear. She was being a good teacher for once. Astonishing but true.
-A beautiful sempai has Yuno's phone.
-She wants to draw Yuno. Naked!
-Meanwhile Yoshinoya is posing. Wait. Her naked feet make the cute squeak? Yoshi is amazing.
-AH!
-Apartment of Imps
-"What about the dog?"

Next episode... Nazuna likes BOYS!? First she's a non-art student in Hidamarisou, now she's a non-lesbian? She is the devil herself come to tempt our innocent girls from the righteous path. Or something. But she is so cute. The cutest of all evils.

Pretty sure it goes Miya > Hiro > Nori > Yuno > Sae. Not sure where Nazuna goes, we clearly need a bath or pool or beach or onsen episode. She's probably a little ahead of Yuno. I'm also never quite sure about Miya and Hiro. It really seems to depend on the episode.

-Yoshi at the start again. Hidamari is changing from old patterns into new patterns. I am scared by this new confusing world.
-Also Yoshinoya's hair seems less green. A less saturated color anyway.
-Nazuna comes to join the exercising. Ichi ni san shi~
-Wait did they change the seating arrangement? The boys don't seem to be heart shaped in Yoshi's class anymore, or was the seating chart upside down?
-Holy crap that was a short day. Another new thing I'm not liking as much. "That reminds me of" cut to flashback without a proper finish to the day. It's not a full day until someone has a bath!
-Yoshi in white cut off coveralls? Approved!
-I was kind of hoping for Miya to suggest this reminded her of something else for flashback in a flashback.
-Man the backgrounds in the autumn scenery are gorgeous. Blues and clouds contrasting with the screen tone foliage over layed by the moving generic pink and blue people. Gorgeous.
-Yoshi seems to be waiting for a call that will never come. Did she lose her one true love?
-Miya's transparent art case is neat. I want one. But with paints it wouldn't stay clean long :x Wait how the fuck is Miya's clean? Did she just buy it?
-Yuno in fishnet sleaves in Miya's arms while both in bikinis? Best eyecatch so ever! (Until the next one.)
-Detective Sae! Hey wait, Detective Chocolate hasn't come up in a while.
-Natsume's ear invades the scene.
-Natsume feeding Sae in a suit eyecatch. Okay that almost makes me want to root for Natsume. But Hiro is so wonderful to Sae already.
-L-lucky guy? Why do you assume it's a guy Hiro?
-Ends in bathing. All is right with the world again.
-"Catch me if you can. Oho-ho-ho-ho." Ever the playful scamp you are Miya.
-Nazuna with glasses. Nazuna with a boy! Yuno with glasses.
-"They must be normal people. You know like me." Miya has stunned Yuno. -Miya with glasses! Hello new avatar~
-Nazuna with another boy! Sae is exceedingly embarrassed. Sae with glasses... wait that's normal.
-Glasses, scarf, sweater and boots on Hiro. I'm digging these eyecatchs this episode.
-Oh so boys just help Nazuna out because she is small and frail and moe. Also carrots are good.
-Nori's idea of a perfect girl is Miya? Watch out Yuno. Your wife is a hot item.
-And now the other girls have to leave so Yuno & Miya can have some alone time. *wink* *nudge*
-I want Nori's shelves and speakers.
-Yoshi with Nazuna's hair style? Nie try Yoshi. Hmm, wonder how long Nazuna's hair is.

So many eyecatches. So much talk of relationships. So much beautiful scenery. Also Suika's avatar isn't a cute little girl right now. I am confused.

Also Suika's avatar isn't a cute little girl right now. I am confused.

The explanation is that for a short period, I wanted to focus on an RPG girl for at least several hours. The plan is/was to stick with that for the rest of the weekend, but I may change to something else even earlier. Such is the nature of impulse avatar changing.

Episode 6:

April 26th!
- You almost have to feel sorry for Mashiko-sensei...
- We love you too, Miyako! Join them, Nazuna!
- Yuno eyecatch!

October 15th!
- Oh wow, we switched quickly.
- Yoshinoya eyecatch!
- A melancholy Yoshinoya? That doesn't compute...
- Miyako eyecatch!
- Miyako's art eludes me as usual, but Yuno draws some very nice clouds.
- Yuno and Miyako eyecatch! What is Yuno wearing? And there's no way that left arm is correctly meeting up with her shoulder...
- Yoshinoya was crying?
- Yoshinoya eyecatch! God damn that's a lot of eyecatches. That's 5 in just under 7 minutes including OP!
- Natsume!!!!
- Natsume eyecatch with zettai ryouiki! (6)
- Oh hey, Hiro and Sae. And Natsume eavesdropping!
- Natume and Sae eyecatch! (7)
- I thik this is as much screentime as Natsume has gotten in the past 10 eps.
- Yoshinoya eyectach! (8)
- Yoshinoya is just reading a cell phone story. :sd:
- Kuwahara eyectach! (9)
- Heh, your Yoshinoya impression isn't up to par with your Principal impression, Miyako.
- Yuno is so concerned! Heh. I was totally hoping the cellphone novel was written by Tachibana Aya.
- Yuno and Miyako eyecatch! (10)
- Bathing! Yuno has a plastic cover for her cellphone to use it in the bath? o_O I suppose I shouldn't be surprised those exist. More importantly, NAKED!
- Panda panties? =D And man, without the Xs, I can barely recognize her.

April 26th!
- Back to present day.
- Ahaha, Miyako running off with the slipper.
- Meganekko-Nazuna eyecatch! (11)
- Nazuna spotted!
- Meganekko-Yuno eyecatch! (12)
- The normal class must have normal people. Normal like Miyako! I very literally lol'd.
- Meganekko-Miyako eyecatch! Only Nori has been left out so far. (13)
- Don't you think there's something between them? NO I DONT.
- Meganekko-Sae eyecatch! ...well she always wears glasses. (14)
- Haha, but Sae, I thought you were so experienced.
- Meganekko-Hiro eyecatch! One left! (15)
- And they confront the person herself. Miyako just likes messing with her...
- Meganekko-Nori eyecatch! Finally! (16)
- Ohhhhhhh my lord, Nazuna's cuteness just hits criminal levels. She's desperate to say she has bad points. Rubbish! You're lovely, Nazuna-dono.
- ...Awwww ;_; Nazuna gets helped by boys, but hated by girls. Stupid jealous girls.
- And it all comes back to carrots.
- Meganekko-Nazuna and Nori etecatch! (17)
- Hahahaha! Nori describes the ideal popular girl and it's... Miyako? :sd:
- Oh my god, her aborted sneeze. CUTEST THING EVER. Yes girls, that's why Nazuna would be popular.
- Nazuna grabs Nori... COMMENCE THE YURI!
- Blushing Nori! A promise to tutor! TAKE THAT, HETEROSEXUALITY! HAH!

April 27th!
- Yoshinoya has an unbeatable information network. She looks pretty nice with Nazuna hair.

Those were some seriously awesome eyecatches.

Eyecatches by the metric ton this episode. Hurray!

I believe for once I understood Miya's abstract art. She was drawing the shadow of the tree as it was falling on the flower boxes. I think. Atleast it makes more sense than her animal abstracts.

Yuno's wearing sexy fishnet sleaves. But yeah I guess her left... wait you mean her right arm don't you? Her right arm is too high for her shoulder. Yuno's left arm is fine. The right fishnet arm might make more sense it it's Miya's arm, but then it has the problem of being a bit too long. Whatever! Too much analyzing of YUNO IN MIYA'S LAP. And more importantly there is someone's hand somewhere we can't see. *wink*

Principal and Yoshinaya exercising.

Yuno's messing with her phone and then Miyako comes in.

So we have an episode taking place in May that include Nazuna and Nori in it. Thus that gives us at least April and May for the two.

Suddenly a Chika has appeared! Her chest seems to be larger and her hair looks like a different shade again.

Chika, you are so wonderful and hot. So glad to have her in an episode with Nori and Nazuna. I've been hoping for this from the start.

Yes, her chest has to be larger. Quick, we need a bath scene! Some research on Nazuna would be good as well.

Nazuna's reaction to what she's being told is so her.

It takes a show like Hidamari Sketch to make a long term "meal conversation" work.

More exercising with Yoshinaya and the Principal.

More with the core six and Chika.

Eyecatch of Nori as a Witch. The Colors Witch is proud of you, Nori.

So much Chika in this episode, it's so wonderful.

Maybe it's just me, but Nazuna comes off slightly calmer compared to her early "I'm going to cry any second" form.

Sounds like they're doing the animal thing. Miyako as a cat. Yuno as a hamster? At least I think I heard that.

Looks like the Principal made Yoshinaya run with her.

Hopefully we'll get an additional episode of Chika later.

Bathing Yuno is one of the best traditions ever.

Time for another wall of pictures. I'm fine with that, but did they have to include text of evil over it?

-Another day with Chika. Chika has Sae's haircut now?
-Nori is introduced. Nazuna is introduced. Miyako introduced herself. She is talented at eating and also eating. Please never change crazy girl.
-Kabuki?
-Chika wishes she could draw. So does Nazuna. Teach them girls! Teach them the ways of how to please a wo-- err draw, yes teach them to draw.
-Nazuna is working for the enemy! She must be defeated at field day! Then again I doubt Nazuna is any good at sports. Bring down Gen Ed from the inside brave Nazuna!
-Miya's plan of how to divide the cake is highly logical.
-I think Chika is flirting with Nazuna. This show has warped my preconceived notions.
-We don't get to see the picnic ;_;
-Chika, Hiro, Yuno, & Nazuna are wearing skirts. Sae, Miya & Nori are wearing the pants in their relationships today. Also Sae's outfits always wander from Man to Old Lady.
-At the end is a big turtle who is the master of the lake? Nazuna has an adorable imagination or plays odd video games.
-Everyone in Hidamari as an animal. Hah! If only they had illustrated them as animals. Besides a few seconds of Miyaneko.
-Everyone has read Sae's stories. They all know they are about Sae & Hiro. Sae blushes. Alot.
-Eyecatch of Sae & Hiros silhouettes in the background, peace lily in the foreground. Subtle this ain't.

I'm with Suika. Noda makes a better witch. Which is odd since I didn't enjoy GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class anywhere near as much as Hidamari, or Sketchbook Fullcolors~ either. Plus Noda's little spoiled princess routine isn't something I normally like, but for her it worked. But that's really a topic for another day. Nori witch was cute.

Nazuna, Nori and Chika very clearly ship Sae/Hiro.

Even they can not deny the obvious. I mean we all enjoy the lesbian undertones of this show. Most are just playful asides based upon the friendships between girls this show is based on. But holy crap with each episode the inescapable truth of Sae & Hiro's relationship grows. Other than Sae's ineffectual lies about dating boys, has there been anything to denounce the sapphic symbolism between them lately?

For some reason that improved my opinion of hamsters. Not to say it was negative, but the idea of Yuno as a hamster just makes hamsters better by default.

It probably helps that Nodamiki is more childish than spoiled. Ie, she likes to play around and is quite err energetic. However she doesn't do things like treat others like crap or act as if through the rest of the world is her slave.

On a side note, at another forum, a person listed the heights of certain 4-Koma females known for for their lack of height. Which included Yuno and Nodamiki. The end result is....

Yuno, 144cm
Kanata (L*S), 143cm
Konata, 142cm
Nodamiki, 141cm
Yutaka (L*S), 138cm

Not something that I can confirm or deny, but it is interesting to note. Also, there is the thing about the girls being in different years. If that height is based on Konata as third year then a first year like Nodamiki could catch up.

Still Yuno can take heart, there are first years shorter than her. They're just in different series.

- Haha, the principal and Yoshinoya doing morning exercises? It gets us Yoshinoya in gym clothes, yay! And, like... the Principal's head is always weird, and I never really forget that, but holy crap, for some reason in this scene I just noticed it waaaaay more than usual.
- Gah, I love this OP.
- Everyone is excited for her arrival! Nazuna is especially nervous.
- CHIKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Hah! When Nazuna introduces herself, it almost sounds like she says "Azu-nyan desu".
- Chikabuki!
- Having all seven of them in one room is just too much. Can't handle this level of infinite win.
- Too bad Chika has one flaw - she's straight. Because she meshes *really* well with Nazuna. I definitely feel like it's really important for Nazuna to get to talk to someone who isn't an art student. She won't feel like such an outsider.
- Sports Festival. The art class' greatest foe! Nazuna will be on the side of the enemy!
- Odd numbers! They complicate everything! Miyako's solution is so very Miyako.
- A Hidamari+Chika Picnic!

May 4th!
- Hmm, picnic isn't shown. Well, back at Hidamari-sou is the best place to be anyway.
- Sae is wearing old woman jewelery again. :sd: Heck, I kinda have to question almost everyone's clothing taste right here. Except for Chika and Yuno. But oh hell, they're all adorable anyway.
- Witch Nori eyecatch!
- Norippe is worried about something in her room... just general messiness, or something specific?
- Animal comparisons! Hiro is a swallow because she's like a mother bird. :sd:
- Miyako is, of course, a cat.
- Ahahaah, Yuno is a hamster.
- Sae is a lizard, lol. Nazuna didn't want to let that one out. :sd:
- I love seeing the first years bond. <3
- Nori and Nazuna know that Sae and Hiro are perfect together. Sae blushes!
- Ahahaha, damn they're laying it on thick. "Sounds like something out of Sae-senpai's novels!"
- Eyecatch with Hiro and Sae and... is that a lily? I mean that would make sense but it looks a bit weird and I don't know much about flowers. Some kinda water lily? Well, anyway, YURI POWER.
- Summer vacation? Staying longer? Oh please please yes.
- Poor Yoshinoya.
- Bathing~~~ Yuno seems less curvy than usual this time.

I will never stop loving the ED sequence. Fantastic.

Yoshinoya looks amazing in the preview...

Does anyone who has read the manga know if the title of the A part next time in Club or Crab? It was tl'd as Club, and that's a legit reading of クラブ, but I'm thinking of the "Hitagi Club" (ひたぎクラブ) mistake some places (like HMV, I believe) made regarding Hitagi Crab in Bakemonogatari. So just curious, since I'll be adding it to the spreadsheet now.

Oh Hidamari... I love you so. With this episode, Hidamari definitely fights back the incredibly fierce competition from Sora no Woto and Durarara!! to stay as my favorite of Winter.

Spreadsheet updated. The B part next week takes us back to September 26-27th of the first year. Right before September 28th (x365 ep 11), the day Mami pantses Yuno!

Side note: Firefox spellcheck suggests "Nazism" for "Nazuna" >_> ::adds Nazuna to dictionary::

Other than Sae's ineffectual lies about dating boys, has there been anything to denounce the sapphic symbolism between them lately?
The day that happens is the day Aoki Ume is abducted by aliens and has her mind turned upside down.

Also the day I will know that life on this planet isn't worth living. I can't go on in a world where Sae and Hiro aren't married. It'd be too devastatingly depressing.

Wait, I just thought of a much better answer (...yes I got out to bed to post this).

Nazuna and Nori have installed a trap door used to sneak into each other's room and night and do naughty things together. Nori had to check Nazuna's room to reset the trap so nobody would notice! After verifying things were clear in both rooms, they were good to go.

Actually the episode will start with Yuno mysteriously losing her weight and then falling over the balcony outside her room and getting caught by Miya.

I've seen some pictures... and they promise that this episode will be amazing...

And as you've already discovered, it's the type of promise that's ultimately been kept.

Having all seven of them in one room is just too much. Can't handle this level of infinite win.

In other words, we're just not worthy? Darn it, even if I'm not worthy, I want to try and survive the win in order to experience it.

Sports Festival. The art class' greatest foe! Nazuna will be on the side of the enemy!

Hopefully we get to see such a sports festival eventually. It would be interesting to see the conflicting emotional drama as the loves Nori and Nazuna compete.

Bathing~~~ Yuno seems less curvy than usual this time.

Maybe they were lazy about drawing her chest this time? Chests consistency in anime is too much to ask for.

In the manga, the title of the scripts that should make up the A Part of the episode are called "Crabby Crabby Fried Rice". Although the thing to keep in mind is that the titles in the anime vs the manga could be different enough that using one as a translation gauge for the other may be limited.

For example, in the anime the B Part of episode 6 is titled as "Expert on Love", but the manga calls the strips that make up that part "Observing Nazuna" instead.

Also, I get the distinct feeling that the order of the events in the anime are not the same as the order of the events in the manga. In the manga "Observing Nazuna" comes after "Crabby Crabby Fried Rice", but the anime has it dated so that it's the reverse.

In any case, I hope that since Volume 5 of the manga has a date in Japan that means that the strips that make up volume 5 are in existence and thus the anime can borrow strips from that volume if need be. Although I suppose some may want them to save the volume 5 stuff for a season 4....

Okay, definitely changing that to Crab, then (assuming I remember by the time I get home). It could as well have been a Yuno Club Sandwich but I guess not. It also makes the nice Shaft connection to Bake, so I assume it was intentional.

Nori's eating together with some of her friends.

The Principal talks to them and then moves on to a table with Yoshinaya and others.

Yay, it's time for the opening! Always fun to see.

(Sometimes I wish I could recognize what series are being shown during one of the commercials. I can recognize Hidamari, K-ON! and Geijutsuka at least.)

It seems like everyone except for Hiro has joined Yuno in excercising.

Hiro has awakened or well close enough anyway. She definitely is not a morning person. Take care of your wife Sae.

Nori has something important to tell us about crab. Which leads to a discussion in general.

A crab shaped cloud, it figures.

It figures that chinese dress would get a pan shot. Also, Yoshinaya with twin tails.

Miyako and Yuno talking while doing school work.

Random appearance by Mami. Darn it, she left too soon. I'll just assume she went off to be with her true love.

Looks like Yuno and Miyako missed out on the crab. How tragic. Actually, I don't think I've ever had crab.

It's time for Hiro to feed her spouse and children.

Nazuna had some of the crab at school and Hiro is saddened. Although Nazuna's comments end up making Hiro feel better.

They just love these pictures don't they.

(Hidamari Sketch DVD/Blu-ray commercial. Oh, and a commercial for Angel Beats.)

Yuno is bathing and now we move on to the other part of the episode.

There are eggplants! Fine, so long as none of them are Wizards.

Ah, Yuno is tired.

It's time for them to draw the objects that they've been given.

Where are you looking, Yoshinaya?

Yuno is nervous. Miyako, you need to hug her.

Mami and her lover are back to bless us with their appearance. They seriously need an episode focused on them.

Yuno and Miyako back at the apartments.

Yes, Yuno, talking with Mother Hiro is a good idea.

We have parts where Sae can be heard, but not seen.

Yuno's eyes have become weird.

The ending animation is clearly a short story about new people finding their place.

Ah, so another split episode next week.

A nice, fun episode- especially since I just read the stories in question in the manga. :) The bit with Miyako having painted eyes on Yuno's eyelids is definitely funnier animated than it was in the manga. They're definitely running down on stories from the time before the N's arrived though, which means perhaps we won't have many more where they're only in half the episode.

Miyako though solidly proves what she said in her introduction- though it should have been that she excels at eating and getting people to give her more food to eat (the 'I'm collecting the eggplants' bit was actually funnier in the manga I thought... I was hoping for a shot of her room with the stack of them in it later :P)

But....... is it just me, or were their faces/heads just off at a number of points in this episode? We've been talking over in the Bund thread about SHAFT's usual issues having not hit Hoshimitsu yet, but I'm inclined to believe that they had at least some with this episode- that or whoever was doing the animating should be practicing drawing along with Yuno...

Episode 8:

May 13th!
- Nori! We need to meet these friends of hers. And there's Yoshinoya, Kuwahara, Mashiko and the Principal joining them. The principal is such a good guy. Always caring about his students. And Yoshinoya... thinks he's lonely? Wants to curry favor? Is scheming something evil?
- SHUWA SHUWA~
- Hah, everyone has joined the morning exercise routine... except Hiro. Someone should just tell her it's good for a diet and she'd be out there at 4am.
- Lots and lots of crab talk. Hmmm, so May 14th being a Thursday. That means this must be happening in 2009 (which I guess is pretty obvious), since the last time May 14th was on a Thursday before that was 1998.

May 14th!
- Oh god yes china dress Yoshinoya.
- Haha, Miyako talking about starfish made me think of Kotomi and Fuuko...
- Miyako can't go without Yuno! YOU CAN'T BREAK UP PURE LOVE!
- Mami <3
- Yuno and Miyako don't get their crab. =(
- Hahahaha, Miyako knows how to flatter food out of Hiro.
- Oh man, they are so taking advantage of Hiro. <3
- Bathing! Do we get two bathing scenes in this episode maybe?

September 26th
- You had a motif in mind, right Yoshinoya-sensei? ...Maybe? Then the principal just lays the pressure on.
- Hah, oh right, I remember this setup from the manga. Don't remember how it goes though.
- Yes! Dodging the broken pencil points. Miyako is so sweet, she makes sure not to worry Yuno.
- Yoshinoya-sensei is analysing Yuno's art. By which I mean butt.
- Yuno can't even escape eggplant at lunch. And all this eggplant makes me think of Gakupoid...
- Time's up and they get graded! Miyako is at the top! And Yuno... awww, Yuno... ;_; That totally beautiful but seemingly only 20 second long BGM plays! I NEED THAT TRACK.
- Don't cry, our lovely little X. ;_;
- Yuno in an endless loop of depression! ;______; <-hidamari wideface
- Sae screaming is amusing. Hiro consoling Yuno is so loving. Yuno being consoled is so sweet.

September 27th!
- And Miyako helps out too. In her own way...

I LOVE THIS ED.

So Yuno wants to be a mother and Miyako wants to be a father. PERFECT. But they're both wives in the end!

Next week, A part takes us to only 2 days before Chika's first visit! I bet Yuno will get a bunch of texts from her. B part continues the second year, a week after A part of this ep. [spreadsheet (http://www.editgrid.com/explore/user/ano/Hidamari_chronology)]

-Crab and chinese food. Just like my dinner, sorta.
-Hah, everyone buy Hiro is out exercising today.
-"Miya, crab chopsticks." Yuno and Miya are started to speak their own language.
-All this talk of crab is making me very hungry. Floral egg crab!?
-ahahahah Miya's starfish facts make Yunocchi sad.
-Yuno & Miya share a moment of love and passion... over crab fried rice. Yuri subtext + crab talk = me exceedingly hungry.
-No more crab fried rice! Miya & Yuno no longer have a reason to go on living. rest in peace girls.
-Hiro to the rescue. Miya gets more food if she praises Hiro's cooking. The beginning of an endless loop.
-"Art is never something that should be rated in terms of quality." The principal is an idiot. Okay his speech gets better, but that's a horrible start.
-Classes go until 4 PM? Teh heck?
-"Sounds just like a sensative sweetheart!" *flash* Yuno has seen into the heart of Yoshinoya.
-Yuno is lost. Miya wears a hat.
-Yuno has a small cute butt. Yoshi likes to stare at her student's butts.
-Yuno is sad. Eggplant for lunch.
-Yuno doubts her drawing. It is good. Wish I could see Miya's.
-Miya will collect the eggplants! And eat half of them.
-Oooh an actual wall of the classes art. That's (surprisingly) rare to see in this show. But look to be all drawn by the same person realistically. I want to see an Miya abstract!
-Stare at Yoshi's butt everyone.
-Pencil on canvas still weirds me out.
-Sae's bad timed yelling on the phone stabs Yuno to death.
-Yuno thinking about the dilema of being an artist! *moe* Also finally, more art in a show about artists.
-Yuno awakes at night. She must get up and draw.
-AHAHAH! Miya helped Yuno by drawing eyes on her eyelids. Nice try waifu.
-Yuno wants to be a mother. Miya wants to be a father. <3
-Yoshinoya cosplay ending image, yay~

This may not be my favorite episode, but it had some very nice points. Namely crab and more art. For a show about an apartment building full of artists we rarely get to see what the girls actually draw. Even then 80% of the time it's just Yuno's art. I want to see them all go to a park and just draw stuff. Hell just sitting at Hiro's dinner table and having a sketch contest. And really atleast one of them should be drawing most of the time. There is always "the art student who can't stop doodling" in a bunch. Or atleast taking turns so somebody is scribbling little things constantly.

Yeah, that Natsume story is good and needs to be animated. As for having enough material, well they could start adapting stuff from what will make up volume 5 of the manga.

Since volume 5 comes out in March in Japan that means the chapters that make up volume 5 already exist. That and chapters that will eventually make up volume 6 should be appearing in the magazine right now.

Wait, they're starting off with Misato and some other girl?

Sae must have been up late again. And there's tired Hiro.

Ah, more of Misato and the other girl. Interesting to have a year 0 episode. This gives more hope for a certain story being animated if they're willing to do this.

Hiro and Sae in Yoshinaya's class.

Sae seems tired. And there comes Natsume.

This is making me wonder how Yuno and Miyako would have reacted to Misato.

Lots of Sae and Hiro. Also, having Misato get focus is nice. Not much of the other girl, but I suspect she's there to occupy a room.

And now they're talking about the said girl. And she's come for Misato. It all makes sense now. The entire purpose of the story is to reveal who Misato's wife is.

Ah, so Hiro gets to be the one bathing. Now it's Sae's turn. Back to Hiro. So even during Year 0, Hiro was amazing.

Nazuna and Nori exercising with others, we're back to Year 2.

Yoshinaya is all dressed up. Yoshinaya must be like the ultimate test for students.

Ah, so it's another look for something to draw episode. Let's see what Yuno and Miyako find.

Haven't seen those two students before or maybe I don't remember them.

Throw stones Yuno, defeat the enemy!

This is either anime original or one of the volume 5 chapters. I recognize nothing.

Ah, a short scene with the first and second years.

Ah May 28th to June 2. I guess this means June has potential to hold Nazuna and Nori.

So I decide to take a look back at episode 1 of this season and noted the Land Lady's comment about how the last time they had full occupancy was about three year ago. So if I do the math right that means, she should be talking about Year -1. So let's assume that each student stays in the Hidamari Apartments for all three of their High School Years. Let's see how that works out then.

Year 2: Hiro and Sae as third year students. Yuno and Miyako as second year Students. Nazuna and Nori as first year students.

Year 1: Hiro and Sae as second year students. Yuno and Miyako as first year students.

Year 0: Misato and Riri would be third years since both moved on around the same time. At this point in time Hiro and Sae are first year students.

Year -1: Misato and Riri would be second year students. Since this should be the year with full occupancy, that means there had to be four others with them. However the four are gone by the time Sae and Hiro come as first year students. Meaning these four have to be third year students.

Of course this is all meaningless if it turns out that some people did indeed only stay in the apartments during part of the time.

Well, if I read the episode right, Riri used to occupy the room that Hiro is currently in. That being Room 101. Now assuming Riri stayed during their her entire third year, that would mean Hiro moved into Room 101 after Riri left, but before Yuno or rather Miyako moved.

As for why she moved? Maybe she wanted to be closer to Sae. Or maybe it has to do with how as talked about in Hidamari Sketch X 365, Room 203 was given a special purpose. Although that purpose has long since been abandoned obviously.

Didn't Hiro essentially say as much when talking about it with Sae- that way she could check up on her by just knocking in the wall. And, or course, she wanted to be closer to Sae.

Getting to see the previous residents (and the trap left in Yuno's room...) was definitely cool. Is it just me though, or were BOTH of the sempai taller than Sae? Were they just extra tall, or did Sae just grow a decent bit that year?

As to Natsume- without giving away too much (the bonus story from vol. 4 that hasn't been animated), I don't think it's that she hasn't gone full-on Tsundere yet, it's just that she wasn't interacting with Sae- she was just talking with Hiro. And letting her imagination run away with her...

December 22nd... B.Yっち.[Before Yunocchi]!
- Woah! Hey talk about unexpected. Misato and one of her classmates, Riri? Haha, wanting a husband, don't be silly you two. But wow, I didn't expect to ever meet anyone other than Misato from back then. Riri is Shiraishi Ryouko. So Shiraishi and Koshimizu! <3 Let's see, how to set this up in my spreadsheet...
- Hey, they OP changed a bit. The stars in the moon were written in light and I think the fireworks over the school was different. Oh and we used the old countdown too.
- !!!! "Room 203: Hiro's Room." Holy shit. All the weight training gear! And even then all she can think of is getting up to make something for Sae. Even if sleep defeats her.
- 201, Yu...no! Misato's room! =D
- 101 is Riri's room! I love you Riri.
- Yoshinoya of the (not so distant) past!
- Huh, I know it's relatively obvious that the girls are roughly around 16, but this show addresses age so infrequently it sounded weird for Yoshinoya to actually say Sae was 16.
- This episode... THIS EPISODE... it's just blowing my mind. It's so familiar, and yet so different! Oh man, I love it love it love it. For example, Sae feeling troubled... that's not new, but Sae feeling troubled *and not feeling like she has to hide it and play the reliable senpai*! That's new.
- Holy shit Natsume as a first year!
- This is why I love Hidamari so much. Right here we had a 40 second scene that was nothing but Misato knocking on Hiro's door and borrowing some whiteout. And it was awesome.
- Hiro decides to move in next to Sae to make their nightly visits easier...
- Oh hey, I was thinking earlier in the episode about how we rarely see Sae's room from the other angle facing the bookshelf. The camera is almost always behind it or in front of it facing away.
- Misato sniffs out some stew! She would have gotten along so well with Miyako. That or they'd fight to the death for the last scraps...
- Bathing! Hiro (and Sae) version! And oh man, Hiro totally just resolved to become Sae's wife just now. GO FOR IT! NO REGRETS!

Oh man that was beyond fantastic.

May 21st!
- Japanese. English. Chinese! Hiro still doesn't join morning exercises.
- Miyako's leg makes Yuno blush!
- * xxx!
- Two new girls! Give us names! We thrive on trying to keep obscure tertiary Hidamari characters straight!!
- Yuno puns her way to embarrassment.
- Yuno is bad at rocks. But good at cute!
- Yuuno goes for brute force. o_O
- Hey, Yoshinoya actually had an excuse for dressing up this time, Principal!
- And Yuno's work is rated lower again. ;_;
- Nazuna knows acupuncture?

Holy crap, the preview promises very nice things for next week. But man... the first half of this ep blew my mind. Incredible. -Sae is tired writing. Hiro is sleeping with a stuffed cat and exersize equipment.
-"I have to wake up and make something doe Sae." The early stages of love. But she falls back to sleep. Still to early for love.
-Misato lured Riri to her room the same way Wile E Coyote lured the Roadrunner.
-Natsume. She isn't all hung up on Sae. Yet.

Sae has a table in her room and cabinets? There's more than just a desk and a couch? That's visual blasphemy of preexisting camera angles. I refuse to beleive there is anything in Sae's room except her desk, her couch, that painting with numbers (I bet Hiro painted it) and the small book shelf where the hidden camera is always set up.

-Miya knows chinese?!
-Yuno's making bad puns today.
-AHAHAH! Yuno's giant rock smashing the weeping lady cracks me up. Such a little weak girl with bad aim being so good at violence. The weeping woman strikes back with a curse curse.
-Next week Yuno spends the night in Miyako's room for the first time.

Traditional exercising continues.

Miyako, Yuno, Nayakama and Mami in the girl's bathroom. Poor Yuno, she just had to lose her keys. They've been flushed into oblivion.

Ah, Yuno's staying over at Miyako's apartment.

Yuno bath scene. Yuno can't find her panties.

Hiro, thanks for giving us messed up hair Yuno. And now we have messed up hair Hiro.

Time for Yuno to visit Nori. Yuno is confused by reading material from Nori.

Nori has her hair down. Ah, nice to see. Hopefully we can also see it it in better lighting.

Yuno and Nori are sleeping together. Can they resist the temptation and remain faithful to their wives?

Yuno has come to visit Nazuna now. So essentially Yuno is having a one on one with all five of them.

Nazuna and Yuno are cute together. I hear some onee-chan talk.

Well, due to the process of elimination Sae had to be next.

Chika must have amazing timing to call Yuno at this time.

Sae tries to listen into the coversation.

So Yuno doesn't sleep with Sae since Sae keeps working.

Mami and Nayakama are back. If only Yuno could have visited the two of them as well. However she might have interrupted a romantic moment.

Don't worry Yuno, Yoshinaya is here! She's here to be dramatic!

Land Lady has a box of keys for Yuno to test. Yuno manages to find one that will open her door.

The results of the opening are not pretty. Although I like the idea of Yuno clinging to Miyako.

Bath time and more of that text of evil.

Looks to be another split episode.

So in essentially this episode was a good chance for Yuno to spend personal time with each of the other five members of the core six. Re-watching this one later will be interesting.

Since I don't feel like digging up the x365 thread (and a new one for the DVD release won't likely start until, well, the DVDs are released :P)... my copy of the HS x365 Image Songs CD came in today.

The good: It's a good solid disc with a lot of good songs on it, including really pretty acoustic versions of Sketch Switch, Mebae Drive, and Ryusei Record.

The bad: the ~Acoustic&Hidamarinight version~ of Sketch Switch is not the one sung by the cast from their bathtubs at the end of x365, which was what I really wanted. Oh, well. I guess I'll keep looking for it...

As for Yuno sleeping around. I wonder who she got the furthest with. I just had to ask that.

Actually, about that. Back when I made the new thread for the original series, I had originally planned to start a new thread for X365 as well. Closer to the DVD release or rather when I got the DVDs.

However, we ultimately ended up deciding to keep up momentum and discuss the X365 episodes in that thread as well. So that thread is actually both the first and second season. Thus I don't see much point making that second thread now. Granted, I just realized I never did whatever I needed to do to get the thread title changed to include "X365" in it as well.

Definitely a fun little episode. I love how Hidamari can do a whole episode of nothing but Yuno spending the night with the other residents (ok, normally I'd reword that to not be misinterpreted, but there's really no point here :P) and it be completely awesome/adorable, with each highlighting the wonderful uniqueness of all of the residents. I loved the night light/no night light discussion with Nori/Nazuna. Good to know Nori can sleep with the lights on, she won't be bothered by Nazuna's nightlight.

It'll be interesting to see when vol. 5 comes out here whether this was an anime-original story or whether it is from the manga- obviously the Chika part wouldn't be from the manga (unless Ume has pulled her into the manga as well by now :P), but I'm having a hard time seeing how you'd draw the sequence of events where Yuno lost her keys in the first place in 4 panels...

Keys falling out as she goes down
Keys in toilet bowl, yuno falling.
Yuno's hand on flush.

The sleeping around bit could be in five sequential four-panel bits

Ah, that could definitely work. I think I'll skip thinking of my own version of it. On a side note, I believe in some cases if a scene won't work in a single strip, they'll use multiple strips for it.

The sleeping around bit could be in five sequential four-panel bits

In general, I like this idea. So long as each segments gets at least a few strips dedicated to it.

In regards to Chika, if I remember right, she technically does exist in the manga in the sense that Sae does have a sister. It's just that the manga never shows her.

Still, I do have to wonder about that sometimes. Which original characters are made by the adaptation company and which are made by the original creator?

So, I'm re-watching the episode and usual a re-watch leads to noticing additional stuff. Such as for example, all the "Orange X ____" stuff that comes up before each sleepover.

Now, the orange is consistent each time, but the other color changes. Meaning we can assume that Yuno=Orange. As for the rest? Miyako=Yellow. Hiro=Pink. Nori=Blue. Nazuna=White. Sae=Purple. Seems like all except for maybe Yuno are based on hair color somewhat. As Yuno's hair looks brown to me.

SO once Sae & Hiro graduate, the next girls should be green and black. *nods* Anyways:

-Beef!
-That's the weirdest Yoshinoya cold opener yet. And we don't even get to see her.
-Jump. Keys. Toilet. Flush. Yunocchi. Lover cup.
-This was all a secret plan for Yuno to have an excuse to sleep in Miya's room. Crafty.
-Miya knows ways to steal Yuno's panties easily.
-Salvidor Dali style Principals? Miyako you are a wacky artist.
-Sleeping side by side. Miya sleeps alone. Yuno sleeps next to feet. Poor tiny Yuno.
-So until she gets her keys back the other Hidamari girls will be passing Yuno arround every night? Oh my.
-Yuno is everyone's waifu. Please take care of her.
-Holy crabs Hiro has a massive case of bed head!
-I want a Hidamarisketch BIOS!
-Yes Yuno, take the step into computer graphics. You can do it.
-Landlady sucks at house cleaning.
-Nazuna's room is very angular and spartan.
-The combination of Yuno & Nazuna's adorableness is creating a cute singularity. I'm being drawn into their eyes. I can't escape the the moe event horizon!
-Sae is an eggplant?
-Yoshi thinks Yuno is homeless. And has a silly berret. Also she seems taller in this scene. As tall as Miya.
-Landlady finds the key in the shed. Oh wait she found ALL THE KEYS IN THE WORLD. Good luck Yuno... Oh wow she got it right on the second try. Yuno should go get a lottery ticket now.
-The stench of death! Yuno faint's into Miya's cleavage.
-Ducky! (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Rubber_Duck) I missed you too.

Well Yuno sleeping around (not that way you guys-- probably) almost makes up for not seeing the other girls bathing much at all this season. I'm still not on board with all this chronologicalness, but atleast they keep trying to mix things up here and there. Now they just need to give me an episode with the girls spending a whole day away from the apartments at the park or visiting with each other's families or another class trip.

That would almost work... but it seems like it would be rather incomplete without the reaction (her screaming). I suppose it could be done:

1) Yuno jumping
2) Keys falling out (obviously above the toilet bowl)
3) [Yuno & toilet entirely in frame] splash as keys land in toilet, Yuno's expression on seeing this, as well as falling toward the flush button but not having actually hit it yet
4) [shot of the other girls outside the stall] *flush sound effect* -> Yuno's scream

Alternatively, have her jumping as the final panel of the 'setup' strip before this one, and then just use Fudce's 2-4 as 1-3 and have my 4 after them...

Now I'm really looking forward to vol. 5 :p.... not that I wasn't already, but this makes it more fun...

Aside: I LOVE the launch countdown after she hits the button. :catgirl: Hidamari is probably one of the few series where I enjoy the manga and anime equally because of the advantages each format has and how well both are used in this show.

Watching the sequence over again, I of course had to watch the opener & let the OP play- and it occurs to me that they must have had WAY too much fun doing the foley for Yoshinoya going nuts behind the door before the OP...

Yuno rolled an epic critical miss with the way she lost her keys. I really don't think a plunger would work in that case, Yuno. :P

Lost keys mean sleep over time. Miya has Yuno's pantsu, Hiro has disastrous bed head, Nori maybe has a questionable computer, Sae gets weirded out by Chika calling Yuno and Nazuna is Yuno's imouto. Everyone's evening routines really highlighted the quirks of their character.

Yuno losing her keys made a really enjoyable episode. If I was her, I think I would have called a locksmith after a day or two but this made for a more interesting episode.

Episode 10:

May 28th!
- Morning exercises are becoming as much of a tradition as ending with baths is. I wonder if Hiro will ever join. :sd:
- Nakayama! And they remembered her mole for once!
- Ahahahahahhh! Wow. I was all impressed with Yuno's graceful leap, but then it all went to hell. :sd:
- Oh hey they actually said Mami's name. They rarely never say the minor characters' names.
- Haha, Landlady. It'll take her days to find the spare key... which means Yuno gets to sleep over Miya's... DON'T FIND THAT KEY! EVER!
- Yesss, BATHING! Yuno in a towel! I love life!!
- Yuno's bra! Honestly, I bet Miyako could just get in through Yuno's balcony door somehow.
- Sleeping on the same futon! Consummate your relationsh... oh wait I'm sure they have many times.

May 29th!
- Wait, this episode covers a bunch of days. Will Yuno get to sleep around with all of Hidamari-sou? THAT'S HOT!
- Lock pickin failed.
- Oooh, Hiro first. Hiro can show Yuno the path to womanhood better than anyone else!
- YUNOCCHI, DEKO VERSION! Holy crap, we've never seen her with a hairband! <3 <3
- Hiro's hair is scary.

May 30th!
- Nori's turn!
- Ahahaha, Nori's PC magazines cause Yuno's brain to reboot.
- Nogizaka Haruka parody in the magazine... and jeeze Yuno, a high schooler in Japan and you don't know anything about electronics. Well she has a cell phone at least.
- Ooooh, Nori with her hair down!
- Their faces are close! KISS!!

May 31st!
- Don't worry Nazuna, math sucks, you don't need it!
- Awwwwwwwwwwww, Yuno gets to play the senpai for once! She must be so happy.
- !!! More than just "Yuno-senpai" she's "Yuno-oneechan"!! Oh god, Yuno x Nazuna, CUTENESS BEYOND THE CUTEST CUTENESS.
- <3 <3

June 1st!
- Sae's turn! Where is she gonna sleep, the couch? I'm pretty sure Sae spends most nights at her desk. =P
- Chika called! Yes!
- Aww, Sae is the only one Yuno doesn't get to sleep next to. Well, Sae is pretty dedicated to her wife. At her manuscripts...
- You know, I hope Yuno didn't have any perishable food in her fridge.

June 2nd!
- Hahah, for the first time (actually, second, there was that bit with not letting Yuno turn her homeowrk in late in a previous season) Yoshinoya decides to be really strict about rules, and of course it wasn't actually Yuno's fault.
- But oh maaaan too bad this couldn't go longer, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see Yuno sleep over with Mami and Nakayama.
- ...or Yoshinoya could offer, heh.
- It was in the backyard the whole time. :sd:
- Five day old rotting tofu... And Yuno's face in Miyako's breasts!
- BATHING! Sad Miyako didn't burst in on her.

It's weird that Nakayama (Fukuen Misato) got a mention in the credits but not Mami... I guess they only credit once per seiyuu and Sawashiro is already listed as the landlady. Fukuen doesn't get listed as her other role (Natsume) since Natsume didn't appear this episode.

Once again, a wonderful amazing lovely spectacular adorable magical episode. And I would expect no less.

Oh no... the preview mentions Sae and Hiro's impending graduation. They're not allowed! They need to graduate and immediately take jobs at Yamabuki High! Next week is one of the split episodes, the first half taking place 3 days later than this episode and the second half going back to February, 3 days after Yuno's crazy fever dream.

Okay, there are some characters in this lovely image (http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/634967) who I can't definitively identify. [SFW image, NSFW site; you may get porn ads. Safebooru is still down unfortunately.] Have we come across them in the anime yet?

From the left:
Yoshinoya-sensei
Kuwahara-sensei
Mashiko-sensei
unknown
Kishi Maiko
Mami
Nakayama
Yuno
Nazuna
Nori
Hiro
Sae
Chika
Natsume
Ume-sensei
Principal
Miyako's temporary cat
Miyako
Landlady
Misato-senpai
Arisawa (? Unsure)
Toudou (? Unsure; going by the microphone)

First unknown looks familiar for some reason, but maybe that's just because I can imagine Sae's mom look like that (I know that's not who it is). There aren't too many adults in Hidamari and she isn't any of the obvious ones. The only teacher listed in the JP Wiki for Hidamari that I'm not familiar with is 池澤(いけざわ)先生 (Ikezawa-sensei) who according to the wiki I don't think we would have quite met yet anyway (I'm holding off on reading Vol. 4 for now). Can anyone confirm that that's her, though?

Arisawa and Toudou are uncertain, Arisawa moreso. We only see her in her school uniform in the anime so identifying her in casual clothes with her eyes closed in a huge group shot is not exactly an exact science. But the way the hair falls on her face (screenshot (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t299/anon09876/HidamariSketch-05Tortoise02779623-4.png)) was enough for me to put it as a tentative. I see no reason for any character to have a microphone unless they're Toudou, so that's where that guess goes. Besides, that makes the three on the right all Yamabuki alumni. Hmm, did the landlady go to Yamabuki too?

The image does lack Riri, sadly. But according to Wiki she's anime-only (man, the anime has some great anime-only characters) and since the artist uploaded this image to Pixiv (http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=8773054) on Feb 14, that episode wouldn't have been out when this was drawn.

And no Naoi-san, Sae's editor (screenshot (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t299/anon09876/HidamariSketchx365-061SpoonSubsDVD0.png)) either. I guess at a major stretch she could be the one next to Toudou but... naaaah. If it's anyone I know it has to be Arisawa.

Also lacks the Oribe sisters but at a certain point you have to forgive an artist for not being too ludicrously comprehensive. :sd: Eventually you start expecting Maiko's parents to be in there and then you know you've gone too far. =P

And now it's way later than I intended to stay up. Gah, I swear I will be able to identify every exceptionally minor character with a name in this show, even if it kills me (or causes me lack of sleep at least).

It struck me while rewatching it an paying attention to things how much they must have to keep track of things by the chronology- for example, when Yuno is at Miyako's place, she has Nori's old, too-short curtains up... I love the little touches like that.

I was also amused a few times when they showed them under the covers and they moved around, the pattern for the covers occasionally wasn't cut off where it should have been and overlaid the characters (since they use a static pattern for the sheets and such). :P

It's Yuno time and it's raining. Miyako visits Yuno.

Yuno and Miyako visit Nori. Nazuna is already there. How nice.

Yuno gets to use the computer! This should be fun and it is.

Yuno's found a stuffed animal?!

Nori's helping Yuno discover the internet!

Nori's getting plenty of screen time thanks to the focus of this episode.

Drawing with a computer. Nazuna takes a picture.

Nazuna has been defeated by Nori.

Yuno seems to have a knack for misinterpreting things.

Finally Sae and Hiro have arrived.

Nori is chatting with someone now.

Nori and Nazuna eye catch.

Yes, Yuno, watch the sky clear up.

Time for the other part of the episode.

The usual get up and go to school scene.

Suddenly giant shoes! Ah, it's artwork.

Seems some of the students are displaying artwork.

Yuno and Miyako start suspecting everything is art.

It's the return of Arisawa and she's happy to see Yuno.

Clearly, Miyako has a new rival. What? My delusional mind requires me to say that.

Let's think about the idea of Yuno-senpai.

Yuno vs. Technology was amusing... I have to agree that it's surprising that students in Japan wouldn't have at least a basic knowledge about computers. But then, Yuno isn't exactly you average student (nor are any of them, for that matter...)

Also, Nazuna's computer is.... an Xbox 360?

The graduation artwork story was fun in the manga, and it was nice seeing it animated. The non-linear nature of the anime makes Yuno's dawning realization that she's going to be a sempai all the sweeter given we've seen her get to play that role for a while now.

And the image at the end of the episode was entirely too adorable: Nazuna with a box full of chibi komimi Hadamari residents. Hiro is a bunny! Nori is a wolf! Miyako is a cat! (OK, no surprise there...) Sae is... a dog? Yuno... is impossible to tell since we can't see her tail, but very cute nonetheless.

-I want a Hidamari desktop.
-Miyako curses the internet. bad internet. You made Yuno sad.
-Yuno discovers a Furby. Furby isn't cute anymore.
-Nori has a secret past she keeps on her desktop. Need to learn to hide the oekaki doodles of Nazuna better there dear.
-Googling Yoshinoya? No girls don't do it! This can not end well. Oh wait, that's no where near as insane or funny as I had imagined.
-Miya's metabolism is like clockwork. And this show always makes me hungry.
-Nandaiyane~
-Hurray Photoshop!
-Aww Nazuna just came to have lunch with her Nori.
-heheh Miyako talking down to Sae & Hiyo. That's fantastic.

-Surprise art placements. Everything has become art!
-Yoshi glued cherry blossoms to herself...
-Misato's senior project closed down the girls bathroom for 3 weeks... Man I really wish Misato was in the show more.
-AHAHAHAH! Miyako. hehehehe. Yes Miya, Sae should make a larger bosom by next year.
-"Maybe we'll never graduate. Heh-heh." The always helpful Miya.
-Arisa strikes again. Literally. On top of Yuno.
-Yuno levels up to sempai. And then oyabun!

This show should never end. Ever. I won't be satisfied until there are atleast 365 episodes. Just keep looking further forward and backward in time. - Yuno broke it! ...it's just loading. Nori needs a SSD.
- I love how Miyako has her arms around Yuno this entire time. <3
- The matchstick solution was lame. It's all the internet's fault!!
- Ahaha, Nori's uncle is Bill Gates. But seriously, these girls are improbably technologically challenged. An apartment full of teenage girls in today's Japan and none of them had an internet connection!
- HAHAHA! I was just thinking that they might find Nori's porn stash (read: hidden cam pics from Nazuna's bathroom), and then Yuno immediately does!
- Oooh! A new teacher in the shaff list! Minaguchi-sensei! Another art department teacher.
- Ahahaha, Yuno, did you really want to google Yoshinoya? :sd:
- Gasp, you can order pizza online! Heh, oh Nori, thank you for bringing the light of civilization to these (adorable) Neanderthals.
- Awesome, she even does internet voice chat. Also, suddenly kansai-ben! NANDEYANEN!
- And she has a tablet too. Well that makes sense. Yuno is getting into it!
- Awwwwwww, Nazuna you are too cute. She likes seeing art in progress!
- Oh ho! Time to leave the young lovers along, Yuno and Miyako! Nazuna totally turned Nori on right here. =D
- Sae and Hiro join the fun too...
- Oooh, the sky is very green! Kind of impssible to shake the memory of Bakemonogatari 12 when I see that now. Yuno and Miyako should recreate that scene... ahem.

February 16th!
- A yeti transferred into Yamabuki High! Or it's just artwork.
- Art is everywhere!
- Hah, Yoshinoya made a shirt out of sakura petals. And it's coming apart...
- Hey it's Minaguchi-sensei! Her seiyuu is Katayama Kana. Seems to be someone fairly new.
- Toudou!! She's announcing in the background. And what exactly did Misato do... man I hope we can come back to that one day. There's a gold mine of pre-Yuno stuff they could develop.
- HAHAHAHAH! Yuno is being sentimental about the thought of her senpai graduating, and Miyako is all, "HEY MAKE BIG BOOBS!" XD
- Aw, Miyako notices Yuno's funk. She's not always good about getting her out of it though. :sd:
- ARISAWA-SENPAI!!!!! Fuck yes!!
- Oh shit, she pounces on Yuno! Hearts fly around! Wow, Miyako, you better keep an eye on your woman. You have competition. You just know that what Arisawa really wanted to do for her graduation project was a nude of Yuno.
- And off she goes. Arisawa, I love you!!
- Yes Yuno, you're going to be a second year soon. I think you'll do just fine. =D
- BATHING!

March 7th!
- Wait, what? How unusual, we never seem to jump around quite like this.
- Oooh, graduation. Bye bye, Arisawa-senpai. ;_; COME BACK TO VISIT! And hah, she's totally standing next to a brown-haired Hiro with her hair down.
- Congratulations~!

Looove ED. Was listening to this CD in my car as I drove to work today. Being up early in the morning is miserable but marble definitely eases the pain somewhat.

Awesome, awesome episode yet again! Ah... we probably only have one broadcast episode left. ;_; But they will give us more. They MUST! And yay the first vol BD will be mine tomorrow!

Next week, we jump more than a month to mid July. What awaits us there?

I admit I'd love to see Yoshi when she was a student- you know she almost had to have been a student there herself. And probably was getting called to the Principal's office even back then for doing the same kind of stuff she does now...
I believe she said at one point that she was. Didn't she sculpt Yamabuki-jizou as a student? Not only that, she had a friend who was said to be just like her...

Yoshinaya in bed talking the phone.

Hiro's finally excerising with them? Is this a sign the world is coming to an end?

Ah, the tomatoes have grown! They're taking pictures of them anda small bit of drawing.

Tomatoes have been gathered. Now comes the fun of eating them!

Nori, Nazuna and Yuno are shopping for ingredients.

Hiro, Sae and Miyako are making preparations.

Nori, Nazuna, and Yuno return to find that 101 is now a Ristorante!

How nice, the parents and children are preparing a meal together.

Dinner is completed for the core six.

Oh, and the Land Lady joins them.

Nori is nervous.

A Yoshinaya appears. A Yoshinaya gets a gift. A Yoshinaya leaves.

Yuno notices a star(?) and Miyako calls everyone out.

It's pan shot time!

The tradition of bathing!

Three Stars, I'm shocked.

Yuno as the last image!

Well, it's back to hoping for bonus episodes and another season.

Good things come to those who wait - and the episode definitly was good and I did have to wait.

A simple episode, but one that had been growing ready for the final of the series - tomato time. I'm not a fan of the fruit, but the episode was as sweet as a strawberry sundae and had as much love as a very lovely love love thing.

Hidamari, I will miss you until the inevitable bonus episodes, and hopefully we can meet again for Hidamari Series 4. Now, time to watch the X365 DVD that arrived this week. :)

This episode was sad simply for the fact that it marks the end of the season (at least the proper season- there will of course likely be two specials yet to come...), but was an excellent episode in general as far as what it covered and how it did it. We've seen the tomatoes grow throughout the season along with the new friendships that have been forged with the new first-years, and with the ripening of the tomatoes it's time to enjoy the fruits of those efforts- which involves everyone spending the day making tasty foods with the tomatoes and not in half (or less) of the beds as this might otherwise imply.

It's what makes HS so wonderful for me (and many of us) but such a turn-off for many others: we spend the entire day (Yoshi breaks excepted) watching the six girls make dinner & dessert. No more, no less. And it's cute, and fun, and wonderful to watch- but I know would bore the pants off some people. But seeing how all of them interact after half a year or so of time together is as delicious as any of the tasty tomato-based foods they prepare (I, for the record, love tomatoes as well and would have been drooling badly over their dinner were I not eating my own while watching the episode... though it did make me more interested in picking a tomato-growing bag and growing some of my own...). I'd honestly never even heard of tomato sherbet/sorbet before- but you can be certain that I'll find an excuse to make some down the line (though the recipe I found looks better than the one they used since it includes honey, cinnamon, and nutmeg...).

It's definitely sad to see the series end, especially knowing that it's rare for such a franchise to continue on for a fourth season, but even if it does end here (or rather, after the two presumptive specials) it's still one of my favorite shows and remains my favorite of the season in a season that has had a number on unreasonably good shows.

One thing that I got to thinking about early on when everyone grabbed their phones & Miyako grabbed her sketchbook- does she even have a cellphone? Thinking about it I don't think I've ever seen her with one- we always see the others and theirs, but I don't remember seeing her with one. She probably just uses Yuno's when she needs one since they're always together. The landlady should really install connecting doors between all of the apartments- or better yet, some sliding 'air walls' so they can open up the rooms and make it easier to have get-togethers.

I'm not much of a fan of them either. Actually, it depends on the form. I mean I do like ketchup and I do use sauce for spaghetti.

It's the fact that Hidamari Sketch can make scenes like that enjoyable is part of the reason I love the so much. It proves that you can enjoy spending quality time with people during everyday events and not just the more dramatic moments. Moments that most of us probably don't go through. Or maybe I'm the only one here who has yet to face a demon overlord.

My thoughts are more or less the same. The main thing Hoshimittsu has done is essentially once more confirm for me that Hidamari Sketch deserves to remain as part of my top four series. With it of course having more episodes under it's belt than any of the other three series in question.

Actually, those series and several others owe a lot to Hidamari Sketch. Since the series helped confirm for me that female art students are (at least potentially) wonderful. So are some of their none-art student friends.

Now if only I could afford the BDs or alternatively I could have confidence in an R1 release of them. Watching it BD would make everything even better than it already is.

One thing that I got to thinking about early on when everyone grabbed their phones & Miyako grabbed her sketchbook- does she even have a cellphone?

I would assume not. Mostly because Miyako tends to be the type to keep costs down. Thus I doubt she'd want to pay for cellphone service or anything like that.

That's kind of what I was figuring as well. This IS the girl after all who initially forgot to even pay her water bill- if nothing else, she'd likely forget to pay it and be left with a useless phone. I wonder, do they have pay-as-you go phones in Japan?

Yeah, I could easily see that happening. In any case, I'm re-watching episode 2 of Hidamari Sketch X 365. In it, we actually have Miyako borrowing Yuno's cellphone. Which in a sense confirms what you've expected. That she likely just borrows from Yuno is need be.

I won't be watching Sora no Woto tomorrow, and I won't be watching Hidamari next weekend. ;_; Thank goodness Durarara!! is continuing at least...

Episode 12:

July 12th!
- Yoshinoya is talking to... Kuwahara-sensei?
- Hah, they're still changing the OP. When the character symbols pop up on screen in the SHUWA SHUWA bit, in ep 11 they made stars fly out but they don't here. Probably some other changes too. And it depresses me that I won't get any more SHUWA SHUWA after this. ;_;
- Morning exercise! Hiro is going to join them! ...I'll believe it when I see it.
- Gasp, she does! Sorta. Then it's tomato time. I like how all the girls get their phones out, but Miyako has to record the moment manually in her sketchbook. :sd:
- Busty Bikini Balancing Miyako!
- Landlady is happy. She didn't even need to unsubtly hint as much as usual, Hiro just goes and invites her!
- Nori is an Italian! Er... damn now I'm really hungry. It's too late to start eating again though.
- Heh, poor Yoshinoya. She's really trying hard to seem teacherly right here, but it's obvious that it's not coming easy.
- Nori, art shouldn't be the subject you're worried about. :sd: Well, she's more digital than fine arts so I guess that's not too weird.
- HAH! The eyecatch is totally referencing that bit with Yuno and Miyako swinging the grocery bags, isn't it?
- Ristorante Hidamari!
- Tomato dessert? The internet will teach us! Nazuna tags along because she just wants an excuse to be alone with Nori.
- Hidamari-sou is a culinary hot spot! Three kitchens working simultaneously!
- Hahaha, Miyako with the scuba goggles.
- More Yoshinoya. She can't take this anymore! I hope she gets invited to Ristorante Hidamari too.
- ::suddenly starts wondering what Chiyo-chichi would think of all these so very red tomato dishes::
- A freezer full of ice cream...
- Finally it's time to eat! Damnit, damnit, damnit, I considered ordering a pizza this weekend but decided not to. I'm really regretting that right now.
- Haha, Miyako owns some interesting umbrellas.
- Landlady arrives!!
- Hah, the same scene has been on the TV all along.
- Wow, didn't expect Nori of all people to be so nervous around the landlady.
- The feast concludes. Poor Yoshinoya, she didn't get to join in. She did get some pasta sauce though, and seems quite happy. Aww, Yoshinoya, you're a good person, you really are.
- And everyone comes outside to look at Venus, the first "star" in the sky. <3
- BATHING!!

And it's over. ;_; You know a show has grasped the fundamental appeal of "slice of life" when the final episode boils down to: 1) Girls pick tomatoes, 2) Girls make dinner, 3) Girls eat dinner. The end.

With Hoshimittsu concluded, I can now say for sure, the Hidamari Franchise it getting a spot in my top 10 all time favorite series. Time to go do that now.

And the chronology spreadsheet (http://www.editgrid.com/explore/user/ano/Hidamari_chronology) is complete. Goodbye, Hidamari-sou. Until we meet again in the specials and season four (I can dream right?)! <3 <3

Hah, they're still changing the ED. When the character symbols pop up on screen in the SHUWA SHUWA bit, in ep 11 they made stars fly out but they don't here. Probably some other changes too.

I take it you mean OP in this case. Or alternatively maybe it changed so much the OP is now considered an ED instead. Comparing the opening in all 12 episodes would be time consuming, but interesting.

Although in the case of the first two episodes, one might want to use the DVD/Blu-ray versions instead. Since those should be using the finalized openings if I'm correct.

Indeed. One thing that also helps as shown by this episode is they kept things active. Ie making dinner actually involved making dinner.

Disregarding my indecisive nature, it's pretty obvious with new stuff having aired, if I were to seriously do an overhaul of the list a lot would change.

Hidamari Sketch would likely remain very high though. Any of the three seasons alone would put it up pretty high. The combined force of them makes Hidamari Sketch all powerful.

I've only ever really (and by that I mean, it's the only place I've ever bothered with it, and even that just in passing...) tried to keep track of my top shows on the place for it on AMV.org... and the last time I even looked at it was when I bumped Origination up to the top spot when it finished airing. That had me laughing the hardest. Hidamari is never an exceedingly funny show. Normally I just chuckle a few times. It's purpose is too sooth the soul and bring a smile. But that eyecatch joke was a wonderful call back to that joke in x365(?) that got me laughing out loud.

- Finally it's time to eat! Damnit, damnit, damnit, I considered ordering a pizza this weekend but decided not to. I'm really regretting that right now.

Yeah, I have definite motivation to update the list. It's just a matter of finalizing it. By that I mean the following. I've essentially come up with ten titles as it were.

So it mostly boils down to first confirming I want to keep the titles on the list. Second, confirming the order the titles should be in. Order of course sometimes being the tricky part.

Either way, you can be sure that GA will at least manage the number 2 slot if not the number 1 slot. It just depends on how I decide to calculate Hidamari's level three combo.

A nice big group episode to end the season. For a bunch of students, they always seem to eat very well. Nori also seems to know a lot about Italy.

Like the previous two seasons, there was a lot to like about Hoshimittsu. Nori and Nazuna were excellent additions and I really enjoyed them both. I hope they make more even if that means we'd see Hiro and Sae graduating.

Rather late to the discussion, but anyone noticed the VA for Kuwahara was changed? She sounds more childish as compared to the previous seasons, where she was like an elder sister to Yoshi.

And the flood of eyecatches - Shaft was really, really busy, yes? Dance in the Vampire Bund, this, and the BD/DVD reworks and the last net-broadcast episode for Bakemonogatari.

So after a long time, I decided to see for myself if they fixed the mistake of Nori going upstairs to her room. Which is kind odd since Nori lives downstairs.

It would seem they essentially animated a new version of that removes the mistake in question. There's also a bit more difference than just Nori not going upstairs.

Still what's truly important is that after the credits, there's a scene of Chika taking a bath. It's short, yes. However it's just long enough to make it clear how amazing and wonderful her breasts are. As well as her body in general. This is what we call extra footage with many many benefits.

Yes, out of all the things I can comment on, this ends up being it. I focus on what really matters.

Suwako Moriya

I haven't watched the episode yet, but I had to look through some images in anticipation and to see if they hint at something finally being animated. In any case, I'll say the following for now.

In the first segment it seems our girls will eat out and the place they eat out has the landlady as a waitress. Let me just say that she and those other girls shown deserve a bonus.

Oh, and Natsume is there too. There's also her friends, I believe. Yeah, I'm sure those are the same people.

Yuno takes a bath and thus universal order remains intact.

Now for the important part! If the images I saw aren't misleading then it means that the special Natsume story from volume 4 of the manga has been animated!

And for that reason, I felt compelled to comment. That and this serves as a good reminder that the special has aired today.

Time to watch this thing!

-Yoshinoya and the principal are being Yoshinoya and the principal.
-Shuwa-shuwa! Shuwa-shuwa! *noridance*
-It's the alternate version! The Hidamari special tradition is maintained.

-There's three other cute waitresses, including a cute one, a twintail, and one who looks like a Poplar with shorter hair (still long though)
-Landlady-san is a waitress!? Shouldn't be surprised really.
-There's a bell? I hope that's not near Miya
-Aw... Yuno wanted to press the button.
-Yuno and Nori in waitress outfits in eyecatch!
-Hamburger is so very Nori. And Hiro's choice is very Hiro.
-Lots of Yamabuki girls.
-Natsume & Sae meeting at the drinks bar... it must be fate.
-Nori and Nazuna are trading tastes... so cute!
-More service! (of both the fan and actual waitress variety)
-Miya-chan's skirt got busted.
-Orange water.
-Miya is singing :)
-New story...
-Natsume? Could it be...?
-a quick look at vol4 of the manga tells me it is.
-Natsume is cute on train.
-Can I hug her yet?
-There are shoes in Natsume's locker?
-And suddenly, Sae.
-It was love at first sight.
-Fate acted against Natsume as it kept them apart.
-Natsume plucks up the courage
-...but Hiro has already stolen away her love.
-And thus, our Natsume is born.
-Can I hug her yet?

That was awesome. 100% the Hidamari I know and love. Now we just need to have a day in the life of Chika, Mami, and Arikawa next week...

There's three other cute waitresses, including a cute one, a twintail, and one who looks like a Poplar with shorter hair (still long though)

Thus this may be the closest we get to a crossover between Working!! and Hidamari Sketch.

Landlady-san is a waitress!? Shouldn't be surprised really.

She's very good at being a waitress, very good.

-And thus, our Natsume is born.
-Can I hug her yet?

You can try, but there may be technical barriers in the way. I forgot the spell to transport you through dimensions. In any case, I love the way they handled the Natsume story.

That be great. Over all, this episode reminded me as to why Hidamari Sketch is as a whole my favorite anime series. The series is just, I can't think of a positive enough word.

And there are other complications as well. Like the one of 'take a number and get in line' variety. Armed with a baseball bat of soon to be both old and new Natsume fans. :)

Not if you include the fanart making reference to how Poplar's seiyuu also voices Yuno.

Yuno visits her parents! It seems like her mother got a make over. Or I could be wrong. I need to double check earlier episodes later.

I love how Yuno went towards the cat. Oh, and she gets to see some of her friends again.

Yuno returns home to a moment of amusement.

Our second segment involved a barbecue. I love how Natsume tried to climb in and the way she she rushed in when she thought Sae was in danger.

Nice of Miyako to get a picture of Sae and Natsume together.

Nazuna is love.

The previous episode had the advantage of a very special segment, but this was enjoyable as well. Having a Yuno focused part and more fun with the cast definitely helps/

The best part of the episode (which I went back and paused it on just so I could look at all of their faces more closely- and laugh all the harder) was the look on the respective girls' faces after Yoshinoya's "And don't do any adult things!" line.

Natsume, Hiro, Sae: Blushing HARD- likely because they're now thinking about wanting to do so...

Yuno, Nori, Nazuna: Blushing slighly, but more looking confused than anything.

Miyako: Probably thinks this comment involves eating expensive foods only adults can afford.

Both segments were a lot of fun- though it's kind of sad since it means that Hoshimitsu is now officially over. But on the other side- perhaps now a domestic license of the BRDs can be announced!

-Oh it has been too long since I have seen some wideface cuteness. Hey slightly modified OP images.
-Aww everyone's out exercising. Well Hiro is kinda standing there like a zombie. But she is on her feet earlier than her brain would normally allow.
I love the dots only background renderings.
-A giant Poplar waitress. Knockoff!
-Landlady is a slutty waitress? With a round razor blade necklace...
-Natsume fails yet again. Poor tsundere fool. Miyako does not enjoy her coffee.
-I forgot how often this show makes me hungry. *settles for ice cream* -They need to visit here more often and landlady needs to stay in that waitress outfit.
-No no. You're doing it wrong Nazu and Nori. Don't trade plates, spoon feed each other.
-Sae brings color into Natsume's world.
-Aww. Her little crush is crunched by Hiro's love for Sae.

I didn't realize how much I missed this show. The cuteness is like a familiar old warm and fuzzy blanket. Also I want to go out to a diner now to try all the drinks.

-Squeaky Yoshi slippers :3
-Can Miya survive without Kuno?
-Can Yuno survive all of her favorite dishes? Damn how many favorites does she have?
-Young bride Yuno.
-Old lady Yuno.
-Cat smothered Yuno.
-Even miles away Yoshi's wisdom can scare and confuse the unprepaired.
-Handstands hehe. Hey even old posing doll is doing a handstand. Oh little silly background jokes I missed you too.
-Hehehe old BBQed bangs.
-Meat! Meat! Fish! Dried fish? Marshmellows!!
-Hiro invites Natsume to the orj-- BBQ!
-Hiro & Nori's hair tied by Nazu's. <3
-Cooked marshmellows create a Yakitate like result in Yuno's mouth.
-Natsume is peeping. Yoshi is caring. Miya is burning/smoking/redrying.
-Emotionally flailing little Yoshi is adorable.
-"Don't do any adult things." Hiro's making a "too late" face there.
-Miya continues being squirrel like by picture bombing.
-No. No bath time. It's too soon. Don't end episooooode!

That was once again funtastically relaxing. Perfect pastoral moe moments. Now I shall sit here and wait for the next season to start. Any minute now. A forth season of Hidamari. Yup. Any time now. . .

Aegisub + BDs + script cleanup = finally a non-shitty, watchable version!

Special 1:

June 11th!
- Poor Yoshinoya-sensei. ;_;
- OP differences! I still absolutely adore this OP. So so cute.
 * Second verse lyrics.
 * Different face drawings in the "notebook". ("Yuno?", heh)
 * The girls are tired from dancing. Nori fanning Nazuna! <3 <3
 * Creepy rabbit. >_> And a clay model dude?
 * And probably other things I missed.

- Haha, good work Hiro! You're getting there!
- Coupons! Coupons bring her to life!!
- Ah there's the date. Time to update my spreadsheet! Though I'm only gonna upload it after Special 2.
- "All you can drink", now that's something that excites Miya.
- Hah. Normally going places in your school uniform is par for the course in anime, but since they live right across the street from school it's not like they can take detours and stop by somewhere in their uniforms much...

- Principal has Yoshinoya totally paranoid now...

- Still going on about how fun it is to pretend they're stopping off on the way back from school. Heh. They're so moved by the little pleasures in life.
- Cute (and stacked) waitresses. Cute, and even more stacked... LANDLADY!?
- Is it just me or is "Mogmog" a really unappealing-sounding name for a family restaurant?
- I was already hungry what I started watching, now I really need to pause and get some food. Man, some nice macaroni would be great, if I had any. But man, I don't know if there any any other girls who are more fun to watch eat food. Sure the K-ON! girls eat a lot, but it's mostly tea and sweets so I don't really count that. The Hidamari girls have delicious meals though.
- Ahahahaha, Yunocchi wanted to press the button. MEGABLUSH.

- !!@&*^!@&*(# Nori and Yuno in the waitress outfits! YES!
- Just how good were those coupons? I can't see Miyako ordering steak lightly. That's like 3 months' living expenses for her.
- Sae goes to refill drinks and... Natsume!!!! Being totally awkward and defensive and tsuntsun already. Oh Natsume... you are a true tragic heroine.
- ...;_; Tragic indeed. She can't stop herself from making Sae angry. She wants to express her love, but it comes out as unprovoked meanspiritedness. As soon as she realizes she went too far, there's this look of "oh shit"ness on her face. Natsume, Natsume, Natsume. You just want to love and be loved. ;_;
- Oh Sae. Heh.

- Landlady services Miyako! Ahem.
- Then she services all the girls at once! (With ice cream.)
- Eyecatch polaroid of Nori eating ice cream for some reason!
- Hahaha, Miyako, I'm not surprised. She's had so much to drink that her clothes are falling off!
- Kuwahara-sensei! Yoshinoya-sensei! Yoshinoya-vision kicks in...

- I love how they remember in the shot from the backyard that Miyako still has the hand-me-down too-short curtains.
- BATHING!

April 7th! (1st year)
- Ohhhhh man, it's this. I honestly found this to be downright depressing in the manga. ;_;
- Natsume has to go to the opening ceremony by herself. She's nervous.
- Ouch, her commute sucks. 10 mins by bike plus 42 by train. And sicne it's so far none of her middle school friends will be there. Natsumeee! ;__;
- And now the train is delayed! Man, sometimes I think Aoki Ume actually hates Natsume deep down. God this girl deserves a threesome so bad.
- Run Natsume, run!
- She went the wrong way. She's going to be late. She doesn't see anyone she knows. And now she's almost crying. Oh god this is so so depressing.
- But she perseveres! And hah, because nobody (except teachers) has a family name, she's listed just as "Natsume" on the class roster. :sd:
- ...Then just as it seems like something is going right, someone already took her shoe locker? =/

- SUDDENLY, COLORS! Sae brings life to Natsume's world! Too bad almost every other Natsume scene we've ever gotten ends with Natsume awkwardly annoying Sae and running away to nurse the wounds of her unrequited love. ;_;
- Speaking of love... this is totally the moment Natsume fell in love. And it's beautiful, if bittersweet.
- "I wonder if we'll get along. Maybe become best friends." ;_____;

April 17th!
- Natsume has settled in over these 10 days. Finally she's discovered the courage to go talk to Sae!
- ...But then it all goes horribly wrong. And on Aril 17th of her first year in high school, Natsume contracts the tsundere. Oh Natsume, I weep for you to the core of my being! It just wasn't meant to be.

AND IT ENDS RIGHT THERE OH GOD THIS IS THE MOST CRUEL THING EVER. NATSUMEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! ;_;

Aoki Ume, I ask you! What did Natsume ever do to you??

(Also: "Miya-cha--bubabibabobobibeba!")

Special 2:

June 23rd!
- Heh, four different pictures of Yoshinoya in four different cuts. One on the corkboard (which disappears later), one on the wall behind, and one on the door that magically changes to a different one when the Principal opens the door. :sd:
- And the one on the wall changed again! ...And I'm going to stop counting now.
- Yeah that outfit is... it's something.
- OP again! One change I would love to see is for the bit near the end to have roles reversed. Miya bonking Sae on the head with the ladle, Miya hitting Yuno with the frying pan, Hiro feeding Sae the lollipop, Nazuna blushing and excitedly banging on the table and scaring Nori.

- So they got Hiro out on June 11th but by the 23rd she had already given up? Oh Hiro. <3
- Yuno has left us! Noooooo!

- ...Heh she's making an impromptu stop home. Her dad is such a dork. :sd:

- Back at Hidamari-sou, Yuno's mailbox is grayed out!
- Oh wow, Miyako just went super wideface.
- Nazuna is sad. Miyako is sad... that she doesn't get an easy meal. You bitch! You're just using Yuno! Playing with her delicate heart! ;_;

- Heh, mom is totally spoiling Yuno.
- And that's a pretty funky clock.
- Silly mom, of course dad doesn't want to think about it. Because it's totally impossible! Yuno is very much taken already anyway!

- Haha, Yuno gets a compliment but the complimenter isn't too happy about the "obasan" bit. Time is cruel, old woman.
- Yuno gets a different sort of reaction to a couple of her old middle school friends, hah.
- Cooking! Still hungry... damnit if it weren't 5am I'd order pizza. ...wait what the fuck it's 5am!?
- Yuno gets smothered by a fat cat!
- Hidamari Sketch x NyanNyanNyan!
- "Arashi no Natsu!" >_>

- Sleeping in the shape of a 山 eh? :sd: Cat takes priority over dad!
- Yuno reveals awkward things about Yoshinoya-sensei...

June 25th!
- Yuno returns!! And, uh... sees something interesting.
- They want to do something fun for summer. That's what the B part is for!

July 30th
- Barbecue! MORE FOOD. No wonder Hiro is so weight-conscious. And I give up I need to go grab something to eat right now.
- Okay I have toast, will have to do for now.
- Heh, someone needs to explain "Olive" to Nori and Nazuna.
- Poor Nazuna, doesn't understand these art student jokes.
- Yuno wants to eat squid! I'm reporting her to Ikamusume ~degeso!
- Aww, Nazuna wants to toast marshmallows.

- NATSUME!!! Damnit Aoki Ume, be nice to her this time.
- Oh man, her tsundere swtch is like one of those hair-trigger pistols used during the days of Wild West duels. Sae and Hiro so much as smile at each other and BAM, instant tsundere! Sae has never figured this girl out. Thankfully Hiro understands her completely - and seems to be pretty sympathetic. Yes! Come to the barbecue, Natsume!
- ...The curved traffic mirror makes Hiro look heavier. Thank goodness she didn't notice.
- Ahahah, blissful Natsume in the eyecatch.

- All-meat! Better hurry up Natsume, it's all gonna be gone.
- Hahaha, Nazuna is totally adorable expressing her love for marshmallows.
- And Miyako is going to kill them all with drief fish smoke!

- Awwwwwww, god damn, so cute. Natsume trying to look over the wall! <3 <3 <3
- Man she's so genuinely worried for Sae, but Sae just jokes with her and that sets off, of course, the tsundere switch! Hiro just smiles.
- Introductions for Nazuna and Nori! Natsume looks a lot more nervous than either of them...
- GOD SHE'S SO CUTE.
- Haha, more melodrama from Yoshinoya-sensei. And some, uh, life lessons.

- Pictures! YES! Natsume gets not only a photo of her and Sae, but she gets Sae's number!
- Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww~~ Okay, that helps to make up for the "Natsume's Life Sucks: The Anime" of SP1.
- Miyako wants to make memories! Well, just slip into Yuno's room late at night and...

- BATHING!
- Hahah, everyone's stomach is on the same schedule. And woooooooah, totally need more of Nori with her hair down! Right now!

It's over! Again! But we'll get more, right? We need to get more! We must get more! It's still selling well, after all - S1 5.9k, S2 8.1k, S3 8.5k so it's actually increased all three seasons. And I know Shinbou/Shaft loooooooooove their sequels. So more Hidamari! Now! Three is not enough! A million is not enough! ...but let's start with a fourth.

That and the series also has the advantage of being willing to use "anime original material" and use it in a way that doesn't feel out of place with the manga material that gets adapted.

Also, even if they might have used some chapters from volume 5, I doubt they used all of them and we have chapters that will make up volume 6 coming out. So there's definite material to use.

Speaking of original material. There are some simple ideas. Like for example, the obvious one of a "A day in the life of Chika".

Ah yeah, I just automatically put it next to the other "Opening ceremony" entry in the list but that was Yuno and Miyako's opening ceremony. This is actually before Episode S3-09A because that was November of Sae and Hiro's first year. So S3-SP1B is the earliest episode chronologically we've ever gotten.

You seem to be missing the Fan Disc episode (2-03-31). Although it was never subbed, so I figure you might just be leaving it out on purpose. Not trying to be nit-picky or anything. Also, it seems someone on TVTropes is keeping a similar list (http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eplistafterhoshimittsu.png), although yours is much prettier and more informative. It's sad that Natsume in a sense seems to be her own worst enemy. The timing was indeed cruel, but somehow I get the feeling that even if that moment had gone better, things could have still fallen apart even if she found out about Hiro later.

There's another episode of Hidamari I've never seen? When was this released? Looks like nobody here posted on it either.

Oh and it's DVD only for some reason, that'd be another reason I overlooked it.

More edits: wait is it a recap? It's not even mentioned in the Wiki episode list. And being a recap of x365 would explain why no BD.

Editeditedit: "March 31st, the day before the new school year.
Time to have a look back through the diary at the previous year.
It's a clip show from the first series, with a smattering of character songs too. Barely any new footage."

I haven't seen that episode either. Checking the page at CD Japan, my first thought was "recap episode", and it looks like that's been confirmed by your edits. In any case, I think there was supposed to be a fan disc for X365 as well that covered season 1.

Which means we'll probably get a fan disc for ???? that will cover Hoshimittsu. In any case, it would be curious to see how the recap was handled. I noticed some shows do a better job of it than others. Well, in the context of being a recap of course.

Yea, after I posted I actually watched it (Have had it for almost a year, but was waiting for subs, lol.). As you said barely any new footage (Although it does have a nice live-action clip of one of the seiyuu recording a Radio Drama "Mieru Hidamari Radio x365" and some nice trailers [Sketch Switch PV, Sketch Switch PV Ver 2, and a x365 trailer].). The other screens look familiar enough, but I'm having trouble recognizing number 2. Maybe it's actually new footage or maybe it's just a scene I completely forgot about.

Let's say many lost their lives in the epic battle to obtain their own copy of it.

Oh hell yes!

I much MORE want Nendoroids of all the characters, though...

You know one of these days I need to get a Nendoroid just to say that Idid. It's just a matter of which character it will end up being. Note that a lot of the things I say that about, I end up never doing....

Here's a couple of good places to start:

Both of those look nice, but among the two I think I'd prioritize the second over the first. Nothing against Kirino, but I like Ui a lot better. I'll let you figure out the reasons why.

Oh, I would too. I'm unlikely to get the Kirino one myself, but since I have all five of HTT Ui is pretty much a given that I'll pick up. I'm hoping they round it out with Nodoka, Sawako, and Jun (though one, Sawa-chan I think, will likely be in the Nendoroid Petit set coming out later this year...).

I'd rather have a Manami Nendoroid than Kirino- or at least a Kuroneko one.

But I'd snatch up Hidamari Nendoroids the instant I saw them available for pre-order... especially since they're already pre-designed for it in the original source...

Yea, after I posted I actually watched it
Yeah so I took a quick look at this too just now. I didn't watch it all since it's 43 minutes of recap and no translation but oh man, it ends with an Aoki Ume image song! I have no idea such a thing existed. Bwhaha. Oh and Yuno's song at the beginning was cute too. Yu-Yu-Yu-Yuno chan-chan-chan-chance!

Okay yeah that's all I have to say about it.

Edit: Oh right the live action bit with Asumi Kana. God I love her. She's cute, and hilarious. I think my favorite thing about her is how absolutely everything she says comes off at least slightly sarcastic. The heck is that little gesture she does where she puts her right hand to her face? Either a nervous habit or just an in-joke from a previous radio show or episode of this.

Edit2: Okay, moved this to its own subthread since I had more to say than I expected. I died when Asumin choked on her introduction after the break. XD

Nazuna seems like she needs a hug. I'm not sure if Nori was much help in this case.

Nazuna is so completely adorable, maybe even unexpectedly so. Wasn't expecting her to out-cute Yuno, but it kind of seems like she has so far. Really surprised that's Omigawa Chiaki's voice too...

They're rubbing in the fact that Yuno's shorter.

I just knew they were going to make a joke of that as soon as they started raising the chairs, but it never stops being hilarious no matter how expected it is. :D

I love the Oribe hair salon twins. Shame that it seems doubtful they will show up again.
