Have seen and liked:
Anita King (ROD the TV)
Shigure Asa (Shuffle!)
Canaan (Canaan)
Chiba Kirino (Bamboo Blade)
Edward Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist)
Shishio Gai (GaoGaiGar)
Takei Hisa (Saki)
Index (To Aru Majutsu no Index)
Harima Kenji (School Rumble)
Louise Françoise Le Blanc de La Vallière (Zero no Tsukaima)
Andou Mahoro (Mahoromatic)
Takara Miyuki (Lucky Star)
Minase Nayuki (Kanon)
Kotobuki Ran (Super GALS!)
Teletha Testarossa (Full Metal Panic)
Triela (Gunslinger Girl)
Yoko Littner (Gurren Lagann)
Isayama Yomi (Ga-Rei Zero)

Only removed three. Sorry, never really got into Aria-shachou himself.

Top 5:
Chiba Kirino (Bamboo Blade)
Takei Hisa (Saki)
Louise Françoise Le Blanc de La Vallière (Zero no Tsukaima)
Minase Nayuki (Kanon)
Teletha Testarossa (Full Metal Panic)

Cutting down to 5 was unusually hard. That doesn't bode well for cutting to three... Asa, Yomi, Index and Yoko just missed this cut.

VOTES:
Chiba Kirino (Bamboo Blade)
Louise Françoise Le Blanc de La Vallière (Zero no Tsukaima)
Minase Nayuki (Kanon)

Well, that wasn't as hard as cutting to five, actually. Louise was the automatic vote. Nayuki was right behind. I did have to struggle a little on Tessa vs Kirino... but I gave Kirino the edge in the end for being completely gay.

Opted for Asa Shigure, Nayuki Minase, and Yoko Littner. Happy to be able to vote for all three.

Time for some reverse order!

Two girls that I had my eye on as draft candidates were taken back-to-back in this round, and as soon as the drafting process for Round 7 had concluded, they instantly became my other two votes.

So in conclusion, I voted for Yoko, Asa and Nayuki. All amazing girls in their own right.

My Top 5 consisted of Asa and Nayuki, as well as:

Hisa Takei (Saki)
Harry Mac- err, Kenji Harima (School Rumble)
Miyuki Takara (Lucky Star)

As of Ep. 17 of Saki, Hisa is my favourite Saki girl, with her strong leadership qualities, cunning demeanor and modest beauty. Her personality is what I find to be her most attractive quality - akin to another particular Shizuka Ito-voiced character. I really wanted to vote for her, but the one-two knockout of Nayuki and Asa being drafted this round happened, and I like them too much to not vote for them.

Hario is one of the driving forces of the hilarity that ensues in the School Rumble universe and still has a lasting impression on me despite it having been over three years since watching School Rumble and my current lull in the purchasing of the manga. As for Miyuki, I enjoyed her quaint personality and she looks so cute when she bestows her knowledge onto her friends - it's a pity that she wasn't seen as often as the other three girls of the core group.

Other characters that I know include:

Anita King (Read or Die -The TV-)
Canaan (Canaan)
That Short Dude (Fullmetal Alchemist)
Louise Françoise Le Blanc de La Vallière (The Familiar of Zero)
President Aria (Aria the Animation)
Reika Kitami (Bible Black)
Triela (Gunslinger Girl)

Index, Yoko, and Asa were my picks this time and unlike the previous couple rounds, they were pretty easy choices without any strong competition.

Chiba Kirino, Index, and Teletha Testarossa. There were a number of other girls that I liked, but Anita King was the only serious competitor for my vote that I had to pass over.

President Aria (Aria the Animation)
Ran Kotobuki (Super GALS!)
Teletha Testarossa (Full Metal Panic)

Wow, this one's gonna be tough to whittle down...
Asa Shigure (Shuffle!)
Chiba Kirino (Bamboo Blade)
Hisa Takei (Saki)
Index (To Aru Majutsu no Index)
Nayuki Minase (Kanon)

Now the last three... even tougher..

Gai Shishio (GaoGaiGar)

Reika Kitami (Bible Black)

Nayuki and Miyuki automatically get votes. I have narrowed down the rest of the list to Louise and Tessa. I need to flip a coin. ... And Tessa it is!

This round I went with the two characters voiced by both Luci Christian and Toyoguchi Megumi. :) Third one was a tough choice, but I decided to give it to former team member Harima.

I guess I'll do this something's way:

Characters I know and like:

Anita King (ROD the TV)
Asa Shigure (Shuffle!)
Canaan (Canaan)
Chiba Kirino (Bamboo Blade)
Edward Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist)
Gai Shishio (GaoGaiGar)
Hisa Takei (Saki)
Index (To Aru Majutsu no Index)
Louise Françoise Le Blanc de La Vallière (Zero no Tsukaima)
Mahoro Ando (Mahoromatic)
Miyuki Takara (Lucky Star)
Nayuki Minase (Kanon)
Ran Kotobuki (Super GALS!)
Teletha Testarossa (Full Metal Panic)
Triela (Gunslinger Girl)
Yoko Littner (Gurren Lagann)
Yomi Isayama (Ga-Rei Zero)

Most of those removed were ones I'm just ambivalent about, only one I can legitimately say I don't know anything about was the Bible Black girl.

Top Five:
Yomi Isayama (Ga-Rei Zero)
Nayuki Minase (Kanon)
Canaan (Canaan)
Anita King (ROD the TV)
Teletha Testarossa (Full Metal Panic)

Not to hard really, very few people this round leaped out at me as "must votes"

Top 3:
Yomi Isayama (Ga-Rei Zero)
Nayuki Minase (Kanon)
Anita King (ROD the TV)

First two were easy (my pick, and Nayuki always needs more love), but the third was a toss up really. I went with Anita because dammit, she's the paper ninja!

Once again, first vote is for my own character, "Meganekko Goddess" Miyuki Takara. My other two votes will be among these six:

Ed "Too Short" Elric
Louise "the Zero" Françoise Le Blanc de La Vallière
"Walking Scripture" Index Librorum Prohibitorum
"Yellow Braver" Kirino Chiba
"Sleepyhead Track Star" Nayuki Minase
"Whispered Captain" Teletha Testarossa

I already have decided one of my votes. As for the other vote, I am still thinking about it.

Ok, looks like I've got a chance of not finishing last this round :)

Hmmm 3 votes... Kirino of course and Hisa since I thought about picking her instead of Yuki. 3rd vote will come down between a submarine captain and a paper user....

Since everyone seems to be doing it, I will do it once, and only for this round :P

Know and like:
Hisa Takei (Saki)
Chiba Kirino (Bamboo Blade)
Fumitsuki Nanakorobi (Happy Lesson)
Kenji Harima (School Rumble)
Mahoro Ando (Mahoromatic)
Nayuki Minase (Kanon)
Ran Kotobuki (Super GALS!)
Teletha Testarossa (Full Metal Panic)

Neutral towards:
Anita King (ROD the TV)
Asa Shigure (Shuffle!)
Edward Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist)
Miyuki Takara (Lucky Star)
President Aria (Aria the Animation)
Triela (Gunslinger Girl)

Don't know:
Canaan (Canaan)
Gai Shishio (GaoGaiGar)
Index (To Aru Majutsu no Index)
Yoko Littner (Gurren Lagann) [Sure, I know who she is, but have not seen all of GL]
Yomi Isayama (Ga-Rei Zero)

NOT a fan of:
Louise Françoise Le Blanc de La Vallière (Zero no Tsukaima)
Reika Kitami (Bible Black)

And so I voted accordingly.

Spirit Of The Stage
02-22-2010, 12:53 PM
Ran and Canaan were the ones I had to drop, as after Triela, Kirino was the instant second vote but considering my fave male character is on there, Harima got number three.

Hisa since I thought about picking her instead of Yuki.

Heh, I considered Yuki instead of Hisa at some point. :)

To be honest the thought of drafting someone from Saki didn't really cross my mind. However if it had, I would have likely chosen one of those two if they were still available at the time.

Regardless, one of the two has already won my vote. As for the other one? She has a chance of winning the vote, but she's still in a battle with others to prove herself worthy of standing next to Index.

Mahoro Ando (Mahoromatic)
President Aria (Aria the Animation)
Triela (Gunslinger Girl)

Hm, I'll try that other format:

Seen and liked:

Chiba Kirino
Edward Elric
Gai Shishio
Hisa Takei
Kenji Harima
Mahoro Ando
Miyuki Takara
President Aria!!!
Ran Kotobuki
Triela
Yoko Littner

Top 6:

Gai Shishio
Hisa Takei
Kenji Harima
President Aria
Ran Kotobuki
Triela
(and Yoko would go here if one of the others wasn't present)

Votes:

President Aria!!! He's adorable. Plus, a fluffy light kitten with blue eyes named Aria is snoozing next to me as I type this, so I must vote for him.

Ran Kotobuki: I love GALS. Ran is the essence of GALS, she keeps things moving.

Gai Shishio: because GaoGaiGar is so much fun, and it's not a character I expected to be drafted. Apologies to the other 3 in my list (especially Hisa Takei, my fav from Saki!!) Hopefully I can toss a vote that way next year...

Easy round for voting, in large part because most of the other characters I didn't vote for I either don't like that much, or haven't seen yet. Tessa was an automatic vote :beatingheart:. Hisa is pretty awesome, so she got my vote too, and the final vote went to the Fullmetal Alchemist.

Asa Shigure (Shuffle!) - Beautiful little green-haired angel. My favorite Shuffle! girl.
Mahoro Ando (Mahoromatic) - Dirty thoughts are bad.
Teletha Testarossa (Full Metal Panic) - My number 2 anime goddess (number 1 is Mugi-chan from K-ON!).

Went with Asa, Anita, and Kenji.

Certain characters, I skipped including because I either barely remember them and/or uncertain about them.

Like, but no plans to vote for
Shigure Asa (Shuffle!)
Canaan (Canaan)
Louise Françoise Le Blanc de La Vallière (Zero no Tsukaima)
Miyuki Takara (Lucky Star)
Teletha Testarossa (Full Metal Panic)

Primary Vote
Index Librorum Prohibitorum (To Aru Majutsu no Index)

Competing For Slots 2 and 3
Chiba Kirino (Bamboo Blade)
Takei Hisa (Saki)
Minase Nayuki (Kanon)
Kotobuki Ran (Super GALS!)

One more day before the end of this round's poll, so now I reveal my selections. As a recap, here is my pick 6:

Ed "Too Short" Elric
Louise "the Zero" Françoise Le Blanc de La Vallière
"Walking Scripture" Index Librorum Prohibitorum
"Yellow Braver" Kirino Chiba
"Sleepyhead Track Star" Nayuki Minase
"Whispered Captain" Teletha Testarossa

As usual, my first selection is for my own character. She is the smart one who is powerless without her glasses, so with her in sight, my first vote goes out to "Meganekko Goddess" Miyuki Takara. Second vote was a slam dunk as she fights for, well, some teacher's job. She is the yellow soldier of the kendo team, and for that, "Yellow Braver" Kirino Chiba gets the second vote from me. Finally, this cute, young captain of Mithril got to that position at age 16. She is no ordinary girl to say the least, and for that, my final vote for this round goes out to "Whispered Captain" Teletha Testarossa.

It was a tough choice, and I kept going back and forth on it. However I ultimately went with the following three.

Votes
Index Librorum Prohibitorum (To Aru Majutsu no Index)
Takei Hisa (Saki)
Kotobuki Ran (Super GALS!)

As for why, I voted for the two aside from Index, I'll figure that out later. Well, that's seven rounds down. I guess I should move on to round 8. Maybe it will be easier or maybe it will be harder.

A great win by the Full Metal Alchemist, considering that female characters usually get most of the love here. Well, I guess the glasses were off as my Miyuki got only four votes, but didn't have high expectations considering that she plays second fiddle to Konata and Kagami. But thanks to the three who loved Yuki-chan.

Updated Scorecard (http://www.mania.com/aodvb/blog.php?b=2770)

First off, congratulations to Lumberjack for winning Round 7. With the vast abundance of moe girls in this year's draft, it's nice to see a male character win a round for a change.

Secondly, thank you to those that voted for my Nayuki and showing your support for the Nayuki Nation. Though I was hoping that she would crack the top 5, she did help me become the biggest mover on the table, jumping 4 spots from #16 to #12.

The top 3 spots still remain the same after Round 7 - Buster Blader 126 (who's probably still celebrating after Canada won the gold in men's hockey) is still leading with 119.5 points and 1 win. Proximity is still second with 117.5 points and 2 votes. EmperorBrandon is still third with 108 points, and Westlo is just 1 point behind in 4th place with 107 points.

One sign that a show is popular on a certain message board: when one of the show's mascot characters ends up finishing second in a popularity poll.

The Aria President tying for second is definitely one of the fun highlights of this year's Anime Draft.

You're right, the votes are all screwed up like they were in some other polls recently. For example, one name under Canaan but two votes. Ed has 16 names, not 18. Kirino and Tessa have 15, not 16. Etc.

Whatever poll problems with VB have started up are messing up the draft as well. Doesn't look like the scores are reliable anymore.

Well if he wants to dunno can opt to not make the votes public like how I run the Weekly Releases polls. I know it's a temporary solution but at least this way the results can have some sense of reliability.

but I'll wait and see what he has to say before I do anything in terms of making any adjustments to the scores.

I started a thread in the Forum Feedback section asking about it, and this is what Chris said:

We had opened it up temporarily to deal with a few other polls that we were doing a push on to the outside readership.

So if that's the case then I guess those anonymous votes are valid :relief:.

Not public in what sense? Not seeing who votes for who? That seems like it would create less certainty, not more.

We had opened it up temporarily to deal with a few other polls that we were doing a push on to the outside readership. So if that's the case then I guess those anonymous votes are valid :relief:.
Er... that's kinda a problem. Those people could have voted for 4, 5, 8+ characters. And even registered users could add a few extra votes on the side as an anon. A few points is generally all it takes to separate quite a few characters.

bci110
03-01-2010, 09:56 AM
I did a count of all the votes. First number is the number of votes that is displayed on the poll and the second number is number of names. Affected characters are in bold:

Anita King - 15; 15
Asa Shigure - 10; 10
Canaan - 2; 1
Chiba Kirino - 14; 14
Edward Elric - 18; 16
Fumitsuki Nanakorobi - 4; 4
Gai Shishio - 3; 2
Hisa Takei - 8; 8
Index - 7; 7
Kenji Harima - 14; 14
Louise Francoise - 10; 9
Mahoro Ando - 10; 10
Miyuki Takara - 4; 4
Nayuki Minase - 13; 13
President Aria - 16; 15
Ran Kotobuki - 10; 10
Reika Kitami - 5; 5
Teletha Testarossa - 16; 15
Triela - 8; 8
Yoko Littler - 12; 11
Yomi Isayama - 2; 2

Based on this, Edward still won the round but now there's a 3-way tie for second if Teletha and Presiden Aria lost one of their votes.

As for the extra votes, for now, I'm letting them stand, but if I have reason to believe there is ballet stuffing, then they will be nulled. I'll do a more thorough analysis on the anonymous votes later, and post here if I decide to make any changes.

Good, then I don't have to do any adjusting for this round. Thanks.

I got here first so...*groans* A pun worthy of Fudce - and that's not praise...:P

Triela just below middle of the pack - that's works, I expect last 6 rounds to be much worse than the first 6, but at least some people recognize her awesomeness. Now, excuse me, I have some Italian's to snipe...

I guess you're just trying to keep people on their toes.

Congrats Lumberjack!

Coach Lumberjack, Edward's always been really popular, but do you think Brotherhood helped out with the vote? Was this a result you expected? Anything else you'd like to add?

Thanks to all who voted for Ed. Yes, I think Brotherhood helped out in the voting and renewed interest in the Fullmetal Alchemist franchise.

To be honest, I didn't think Ed would win this round. I thought Tessa was going to take this round and, if any male character was going to win, it would have been Harima (who I also voted for).
