4-Koma Anime about a group of girls going through high school. One of which is divine and wonderful being. Yeah, I just feel like it's time for a re-watch of this. For various reasons.

If you're late due to bike troubles, steal a student's bike. Yukari is such a role model.

I have to admit I would like to know the measurements.

That cat is quite evil.

I have a soft spot for Chihiro for some reason.

I wonder if Chiyo's skill is because or in spite of her family.

Tomo makes quite an entrance and has a strong impact during her segment. Also, she's the runner up.

Episode is still missing something. Something it needs to be perfect. Suddenly Ayumu enters and the universe become a better place. I just love her entrance and the music that plays.

Scenes focused on Ayumu and her voice is love. It's nice to be reminded of how wonderful it is.

Ayumu gains the nickname Osaka. All thanks to Tomo and I'm still surprised the others accepted without a second thought.

Just think in less than a month, it will be the 8th year anniversary of when the series started airing in Japan. Maybe not as fancy as say a 10th year anniversary, but still an anniversary.

On a slightly related side note, I'm tempted to start up another 4-Koma Anime related discussion thread later for a different series. One that involves stars and luck, but that's another story.

Yeah, I know I still have some current series to finish. However my Winter series are either ones I'm close to finishing or ones I'm having trouble motivating myself to progress in. Besides, I figure with series like this, I can re-watch at my own pace. Whatever that may be.

Ayumu with a cloth in her mouth is cute.

Ayumu couldn't beat the prodigy in P.E. Never mind that she was the first to lose.

Poor Ayumu, she experiences the pain that is hiccups.

The mystery of the twin tails. They can be detached! The dream of Ayumu must be telling the truth.

Thanks - now I've got the urge to rewatch this - not that it's a bad thing. And to this day, I still think Yuki Matsuoka's Osaka is the best voice I've ever heard in Japanese voice acting. ABSOLUTE PINNACLE OF LOVE.

Given she has a father voiced by Norio Wakamoto, who is pretty much the embodiment of 'awesome', I'm going to go with 'because of'. :catgirl:

I'd love to have the time to re-watch this, but I'll settle for living vicariously through Suika's doing so. :P

Dang it Suika, are you trying to tempt me into (re)watching another series? Hmm, actually I'm not sure if I rewatched all of Azumanga when I got the DVDs myself. I should probably watch something else in my DVD backlog. But Azumanga was so much fun.

On an unrelated related note: I found out my main computer is from 2002. because I had to get out the boot disc to try to save it. Had a power outage last night and now it won't boot to windows, or even safe mode. Hurray for laptop.

Ayumu asks if they're rowdy.

Chiyo has quite the home.

The fewer people that die the better. Best warning ever.

Remember Osaka is the culprit!

Evil Ayumu planning to do evil towards Chiyo is a bit unexpected.

A different brand of swimsuits in this episode.

Poor Kaorin, if only she could have gone.

I'm still not done rewatching Hidamari Sketch x 365... and the Aria the Origination thread is going to be starting fairly soon! Doing the posts for that will eat up a huge chunk of my time for a couple weeks. I have wanted to rewatch Lucky Star for quite some time, almost did it a few months ago in fact, but there's no way I'll be able to do it any time soon. Hold off a bit on that one, if you can. :sd:

As for this, I'd be up for rewatching it in theory (haven't seen it in years) but just keeping up with 1.5-2 dozen new shows + 1 rewatch is always hard, adding another two cour rewatch on a fairly quick timeline (yikes, ep 5 already) is even tougher. Especially when I do things like go back and rewatch all 10 episodes of an ongoing show like Durarara!! over Saturday-Sunday...

Well, I took off from work today so I might plow through the rest of x365 right now and clear that off my plate. That thread ended like a month ago. :sd: Intended to do it on Sunday but Drrr as calling. Then maybe I can watch at least a couple eps of Azumanga Daiou.

Why is there so much good anime? ;_;

Ah, yes, I do need to find a way to fit Aria the Origination into my watching schedule. Well, with several winter series ending in a couple of weeks the schedule will lighten. However there's no telling yet how heavy Spring will be for me.

I'll think about it, but it depends on how long "a bit" is supposed to be. Well, it probably would be a good idea to be careful how many DVD series I have on my plate for obvious reasons.

(yikes, ep 5 already)

*Checks time stamps on post* Looks like I did go through those episodes in a short time period. Perhaps it's a good thing I got distracted by other series. Ie some stuff I needed to catch up with a bit. Also, a bit of avatar making.

It's a bit too early for this level of Osaka love. They didn't figure out how to make magic with her until later in the series (and if you're a dub watcher, it's before Kira Vincent-Davis settled on an accent).

At this stage of the show, it was Sakaki (whose introduction was perfect) and Tomo that made me a fan.

I agree. Her appearance alone made the show a whole lot better, as it gave Tomo a very different character to play off of then the classic straight-man Yomi, and she's absolutely adorable and hilarious from the moment she steps into the room (well, adorable from the start, and then hilarious when she gets told she doesn't have to try and speak without her accent...). There's really not a 'bad' character in the bunch, but Ayumu/Osaka is a large part of what made me love the series so much- and I certainly didn't have to wait until later to realize it...

True enough. But I thought, unlike the other characters that all arrived fully formed, Osaka took time to develop into what she was. There was experimentation going on there. Little bits like the "grain of truth", bubble floating and perfectly breaking chopsticks were there, but weren't dominant yet. It wasn't until around the 5th episode of the animation where proto-Osaka turned into the Osaka of the rest of the series.

Compare her to, say, Yukari who walked into the series with all the comic beats to her character figured out.

Yukari's probably my second favorite character in the series. Or third. Chiyo's cuteness sort of defies the laws of mathematics and doesn't allow me to properly decide her place. That, or she comes as part of a pair with the divine Ayumu.

I've definitely got a soft spot for Sakaki, though. She reminds me of... me. Quiet, cool exterior, but instantly melts in the presence of kittens.

But none can replace the perfection that is Ayumu.

Might as well rewatch at least an ep of this while I can.

Episode 1:

- Yeaaah... Soramimi Cake is definitely an experience. That it is. Other than Umi Monogatari, I don't know if I've heard Oranges and Lemons since Scrapped Princess. Well technically SutePri's songs aren't under the O&L name and UmiMono is only the Itou Masumi half but that voice... oh yes that voice. It's unmistakeable.
- Chiyo-chan~ Kaneda Tomoko is nearly as "unique" as O&L. :sd:
- Chiyo-chan, you're not supposed to read what others write!
- I wonder if Kaorin is the force that got my yuri love going. She... very well may be! Too bad Sakaki's more into bestiality. Poor Kaorin. ;_;
- Speaking of Sakaki, I was never all that into her cat-obsession subplot. It has some great moments (like anything involving Chiyo-chichi) but one thing I really remember feeling from back when I first watched this show is that parts of the middle dragged when it got a bit too much focus. Not that this stopped it from being in my top 10 for years.
- Ah, Takino Tomo. Your seuiyuu has... not been in anything in quite some time! Even though she's so young (still under 30 despite this being an 8 year old show). Guess she found other stuff to do.
- OOOOOOOOOOOOSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!! !!!!! Er, I mean, Kasuga Ayumu!! Matsuoka Yuki is so very wonderful in this role. No wonder Osaka has always been one of my top tier characters. In fact for a couple years after this first aired, she was #1 or 2.
- Shikkari! Shikkari! Shikkari! Shikkari!
- And the Sacred Name is bestowed upon The Goddess!

~Raspberry Heaven~ and Azumanga Ouji.

This show would fit in perfectly with the golden age of 4koma anime we're so happily experiencing these days. It was truly ahead of its time!

One thing that is a bit unique about it is the comedic timing. It's very slow, very drawn out. Lots of long scene repeating the same thing, with characters just staring at another character while some slow, sorta funky music plays. Sometimes this results in pure brilliance. Sometimes it just kills the joke. Far more the former than the latter, though.

And it just occured to me that Yukari would get along so well with Hidamari's Yoshinoya-sensei...

It's important for girls to tuck in their shirts, apparently.

Osaka will get to experience a tokyo sports fest.

Yes Tomo, the spot light must shine on you.

Tomo will compete against Sakaki with her cuteness!

Tomo's cuteness (and sexiness) is better than Sakaki's coolness.

Class 5 must be defeated!

I predict that Ayumu will lose her shoe.

Chiyo discovers the challenge of helping Osaka with stretches.

Getting help from Tomo was not a good idea, Yomi.

Chiyo's words of encouragement make it clear who needs it most.

How the heck did he even manage to become a teacher?

The only ones capable of beating the team of Chiyo and Ayumu in a three legged race are everyone else.

Support from Tomo means nothing....

Well, at least Chiyo can use cuteness to cheerlead.

Osaka with glasses!

Class 3 is victorious over Class 5.

Kaorin is in heaven. Kaorin is in hell.

Yukari wins enough money to pay Nyamo back!

The class wants their juice.

I love the golden age. I'd love it even more if certain manga got licensed, certain anime got licensed, and certain manga got anime adaptations. I also love Azumanga Daioh for starting me on the path to enlightenment.

I dunno... I think they'd have an amusing time out drinking (while Nyamo & Yoshi's contemporaries tried to keep some semblance of order...), but their approaches and attitudes toward teaching are so very different. Yoshi is enthusiasm for the arts personified and despite her quirks is an excellent teacher. We never really get a solid bead on the actual quality of Yukari's teaching, but she has nowhere near the enthusiasm and overflowing love of teaching and her students (at least outside of their providing her a means to go on vacation at the beach :P) that Yoshi exhibits all the time. Though they do both generally act like they're closer to their students' ages mentally than their real ages.

That, and Yukari flatly refuses to give her Three Sizes, while I believe Yoshi outright volunteers hers at one point. ;)

On to the fourth ep now - I'm really enjoying watching the show again. Seeing as I haven't watched it in Japanese since catching a few eps years ago, I'm going the sub route this time 'round. Though chances are I'll be going back and forth between language tracks like I usually do. (just means it'll take me twice as long to get through the series, which is no bad thing, really :) )

Hey, it's everyone's favourite pervert, Mr. Kimura! while you have to admire his honesty, sometimes it's best to keep certain things to yourself. :)

And Osaka tries her best to master the art of floating. Seems a lot of people are giving it a go - Yukari seems fairly adept at it herself.

Loved Sakaki's expression when they were talking about 'cat-paddling'.

It's all about how she longs for cuteness, but is physically trapped in the body of a cool girl. Cute vs. Cool, and she's stuck on the wrong side of the divide. It's why she's the most moe-inspiring character in the show. ^^

That she is, but overall I liked a bunch of the others (Osaka, Chiyo, Kaorin, Yomi) better. She's probably on par with Tomo and Kagura for me.

I liked her struggle with cool vs cute, just not necessarily the cat part, or not to the extent it's dwelled upon I suppose. But as I said, this is Azumanga, even the "bad" things are still generally pretty good.

Over time they started extending the scene way beyond what was necessary for art purposes, often around Sakaki (see the scene where Chiyo rides Mr. Tadakichi) and/or cats in general, which was more the problem.

I thought the gags themselves worked though. Then again, I've got more than few scars from petting stray cats myself.

Kaorin is in heaven. Kaorin is in hell.I have always wondered if the symbolism of the images were unintentional or intentional!

As Kaorin realizes she's going to dance with Sakaki:

*A ringing church bell
*being buried in yellow roses
*The fighter jet flyover with rainbow smoke trails.

I do wonder if they chose those images only because they were festive. Did they really wanted to go this far and have Kaorin come out of the closet?

I love Sakura Nogawa's voice. I love her screaming and high pitched squeaks.

Episode 2:

- Tokyoans (Tokyoites?) stop when the light is red. Osakans cross when the light is red. Osaka... stands there lost in thought. <3
- The entire first part of the episode is just one glorious Osaka moment after the other.
- I love how the entire cockroach scene goes by without grabbing Osaka's attention at all. She has very important things on her mind. Shikkari, Osaka-san.
- Volleyball. Kaorin is happy!
- Kaorin gets jealous when she thinks she has competition...
- Ah yes, Osaka and Chiyo tossing the ball. One of the early examples of stretched out gags, though I think they cut this one off right before it becomes a negative. So it's still amusing.
- Yeah, this is definitely still Matsuoka Yuki's best role. Osaka's little self-satisfied "eh heh heh" when she splits the chopsticks neatly is something I have never ever forgotten in the years since I watched this.
- Haha, Chiyo trying to scare Osaka. Good luck with that.
- Osaka is able to hold her breath for 5 seconds...
- Heh, they are just so many silly amusing little moments in this show that it's hard to pick which ones to comment on. But I love Osaka's reactions to Tomo and Yomi not understanding her bean knowledge pun. Chaunen! <3 <3 <3
- Chiyo's hair is detachable! Osaka is truly a scholar and a scientist.

Cafe vs Haunted House? Such a tough choice.

The legend of the comment box.

There's no way we'll ever know who suggested the stuffed animal thing.:P

Ayumu's expression while she was being traced is just wow. Ayumu gets to be the model.

Sakaki meets the pet dog of Chiyo. She then spends time petting it. Maybe, a bit too much time. Why ride a horse off into the sunset when you can ride the family dog?

Animal ears are a quick way to get a costume.

Ayumu in a giant cat costume.

Which now Tomo is wearing. What will Tomo do now?

Why she'll run through school like crazy. Which is more likely to scare customers than attract them.

Err even I'm not perverted enough to want a cup of pool water.

One is a cat and err the other is a dog. Sad when even the maker can't tell which is which.

Confuse the customer even more.

Chiyo in the cat costume does not work.

Chiyo and Sakaki are devastated to find out who was in the costume. Poor Sakaki.

Yukari just had to suggest burning the stuffed animals.

Even knowing it's a person in the costume doesn't make it any less weird watching people march behind it.

Chiyo probably shouldn't have come home in the costume.

Her adorable tones in this episode basically is what made me fall in love with Osaka - the voice is near perfect - when she does the bean knowledge (I know I'm gonna spell this wrong but hey - MAME CHISUKI!) I felt a warm fuzzy feeling in my heart.

Kasuga Ayumu dreams about Chiyo. Apparently Chiyo has the ability to fly due to her twin tails. Twin tails that control her. Osaka has failed to take them off correctly. Osaka must fly away.

Tomo's dream is quite egotistical. She's so awesome, she can get a 100 within 100. Also, she saves kittens and defeats bank robbers that are quite familiar. Chiyo and Yomi are no match for Tomo in this dream world.

Sakaki meets the father of Chiyo and the word will never be the same again after this.

That's not a very effective maid.

Chiy's father is err angry.

Relax Sakaki, Osaka is here to wake you up.

On Tomo's dream: this dream shows why Tomo is my least-favorite of the Azumanga girls, given how she's nothing but a very annoying girl who needs to be smacked.

On Sakaki's dream: I think it's best to take in mind the fact that her dream in the anime is actually two different dreams in the manga, and that each part reflects Sakaki's development throughout show.

Part 1: The ending of that part, in which Chiyo's dad tells Sakaki that she'll most likely not have a cat as a pet seems to be a warning to her that her main dream (wanting a cat of her own) will not be achieved if she keeps holding back her the fact that loves cute things.

Part 2: The fact that Sakaki's dream ends with Osaka showing off items that would mean good luck for the upcoming year suggests that Sakaki, via getting closer to Chiyo-chan, has finally opened up her true side, and hence will probably have her wish finally come true in the upcoming year (aka senior year, since this dream is separate from the first dream in the manga).

Episode 3:

- And the Nyamo nickname is unearthed! As Chiyo gets buried.
- Team Sea Slug! Osaka has a unique aesthetic sense. Also, great team there. Osaka and Chiyo on the same team... I also like how in this segment we can just completely forget that there are other students in the classroom. :sd: Only 5 are involved.
- This show's eye catches have always amused me.
- I think my favorite thing about Nyamo is the "aaah aah aaah aah!" scream she makes when she's trying to stop Yukari from saying something incredibly embarrassing.
- Yukari speaks nonsensical gaijin-ese!
- Ahaha, Osaka. "I always wanted to try slipping on a banana peel". I'm fairly shocked she hasn't before...
- Hey wait a second, Tomo just came to a logical conclusion about something. Shocking.
- You can really hear Kero-chan poking out from Nyamo sometimes, and it's... ...a little disturbing. :sd:

It's time to be second year students. Osaka worries about classes changing. Chiyo tries to give her hope. Yukari gives both Chiyo and Ayumu hope.

Kaorin, face facts flowers hate people that try that game with them. They probably make sure to adjust their number of petals to screw you over. It's revenge for pulling their petals in the first place.

Tomo makes her grand entrance! She's ready for the second year!

Chiyo is envious of Tomo and Yomi. Those two have been togeher since grade school. Where as Chiyo has no one like that. Gee, I wonder why.

Sakaki, Yomi, Tomo and Chiyo have all made it in the same class. However Ayumu is not in the class. Poor Ayumu.

Oh wait, she's under the name Osaka. Never mind.

It took the murder of several flowers, but Kaorin is in the same class as Sakaki again.

Ah, Kagura's in the same class now. She goes right to Sakaki to have a conversation. Kaorin decides to be creepy in the background.

The main advantage to teachers not wanting to remember names is it helps keep the class from shuffling too much. Of course, the teacher will always deny that's the reason.

Kagura, your real rival is Tomo not Sakaki. Time to give each other titles.

The sports clubs want Sakaki to join their club.

Chiyo demands respect from the first year students. She may be a genius, but she's still childish.

Tomo reveals that eating early is a sign of being a second year.

Yukari brings a kitten to the class. It will never survive on its own.

Let's hold the kitten. Let's have the kitten run away when Sakaki tries to hold it.

Don't worry, it will survive on its own. Kagura is looking quite white there. I'm not sure if I noticed that the first time.

So it seems like the second year will be in some ways like the first. Except with an added Kagura element.

Kagura, if you wanted to know what I.T. stood for, you could have just waited several years and asked Miyako. Not that I can think of many examples off hand, but the I.T. question feels common.

Kagura spends quality time with Sakaki. As nice as Kaorin's err admiration may be sometimes, I think Kagura x Sakaki might work better.

Sakaki at bat, Kagura is pitching, a female baseball team anime is born! What?

Poor Chiyo, it's like the ball was aiming for your head.

Tomo's bust has gone up by three centimeters! My bad thoughts have increased by thirty percent at least.

Kagura is doodling and Sakaki is upset by the doodles.

Sakaki, just like with some humans, there are animals that are pure evil. That cat happens to be one of them.

Only in your dreams Sakaki, only in your dreams.

It's revenge for pulling their petals in the first place. It was a landmark moment for Ms. Yukari. It's the first time we've seen her show compassion and tenderness to anyone. It adds depth to her character, and shows she's only mostly lazy and selfish.

Seeing Mr. Kimura creep out Kaorin and Ms. Yukari was still awesome.

I can imagine Yukari loudly declaring "I'm taking Kagura!" while Ms. Kurosawa doesn't realize Yukari is drafting for Sports day.

Kagura, your real rival is Tomo not Sakaki. Time to give each other titles. Kagura, you have been downgraded.

An episode focused on Chiyo. Where essentially she gives us her thoughts on her current life and some of her friends.I feel if I only could show one episode of Azumanga Daioh, this would be it. It has everything in the Azumanga Daioh experience concentrated into this one block. It'd be great bait to hook people on the series.

I think it's crazy that Tomo deduced correctly that Yukari was purchasing a video game. Is Tomo a more hyperactive Ms. Yukari? I say no because Yukari seems to serve only herself, while Tomo wants a rise out of everyone. Is teaching in Tomo's future? It's very possible. Tomo may have what it takes to manage a classroom of teenagers.

Mr. Kimura staring at the sky earlier in the episode was nice. However, he showed his true colors. Why are the boys sweatdropping? Back in episode 4, they admired Kimura for being honest! Which is it, boys?

Chiyo worries about what Osaka might do.After this scene, people started asking "Is Osaka Autsitic or does she have Asperger's?" I say no on both counts because she seems capable enough at functioning in life. She just has different way of expressing herself.

We have a different type of fanservice this episode. Twice, we saw Yomi want to beat the *&%^$ out of Tomo. Oh so funny! Again, Tomo getting a rise out of Yomi. But there are healthier ways of making sure someone is interested in you, Tomo.

Wait, wasn't the last swim class separated by gender? Notice Kimura was still "observing" PE.

Tomo runs over Chiyo in the pool and Ms. Kurosawa screams! GREAT PANIC SCREAM AYA HISAKAWA!

I love how Tomo just kept spinning the broom around. Yomi, nice head shot. Way to take out the threat.

Osaka has great broomwork but is bad at dustpan, as Chiyo put it. Osaka, I would like to introduce you to the sport of Curling. Sweep hard and keep up with the rock, okay?

The windows on Chiyo's front doors are the same shape as her pigtails, and "Father". Coincidence or destiny?

I wonder when was the last time I jump roped. Probably years ago, and I'm sure never got very high. Going on a tangent. I thank the writers for giving Chiyo this dimension in her character. At the beginning of the episode, she looked forlorn as she imagined herself as a normal elementary school student. She did it again as she watched the normal girls play. Chiyo is stuck in an awkward place between child and adult. These moments showed almost sorrow and possibly regret at making the leap forward.

The character of Chiyo was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Elementary and middle school had nothing left to offer her, yet she had to develop emotionally like any other 11 year old. She may be more mature than Tomo and Kagura, but she needs to be a kid. Thank you Sakaki for grabbing the jump rope and giving her relief for a little while.

Heh heh heh, Bondage Tomo.

I can't wait to get olderYou will eat those words.

Chiyo must search for an idiot! Chiyo finds Tomo! Chiyo tears up the paper. Why was idiot an option in the first place? Is this school evil?

Chihiro gets replaced by Sakaki. Kaorin is happy. Chihiro returns. Kaorin is angry. It's scenes like this that make it impossible to believe Kaorin doesn't swing that way.

Wow. Tomo is extra angry in this episode. Maybe she's suffering from a mood swing.

Tomo makes the one mistake she shouldn't have. She hits Yukari. Her life is doomed.

Tomo's priorities are either straight, cruel or both.

Yomi, is falling asleep naked such a bad thing? Well, I guess it depends on who's the one falling asleep naked.

I love how they relied on text to tell us what Chiyo and Yomi were saying to each other because otherwise, the bragging from Kagura, Tomo, and Osaka would have drowned them out.

Thus Azumanga Daioh turns into a war anime! Or rather the girls decide to have a snowball fight.

I love her smile as she holds it. Ayumu is quite scary in adorable way.

Once more it's time for Osaka to study Kagura's tan.

The lack of summer has Tomo depressed and she spreads the depression to Ayumu.

Motivating those two is not an easy task, Chiyo.

I'm not so sure about Kagura's method.

Yukari is also lacking motivation.

For the record, the primary motivation for doubling up today was Osaka with knife. That and I didn't have time to watch an episode yesterday. So this makes up for it.

Is there any better reason than Osaka with knife?

Legend has it that those who try to think of a better reason will wake up to something shiny.

Or perhaps a week of daily commutes in the Yukari-mobile.

Oh yes, that moment. One of the CMOF when it comes to Osaka, especially considering some of the AMV Hell clips using footage from that moment (the best being the one setting Osaka's idea of waking up Yukari with a frying pan to "Don't Fear the Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult).

Osaka's desires for a bread eating contest have been fulfilled. I love the way she asks about.

So you use bread to catch an Ayumu? Who knew?

Tomo wants juice from Yukari once more.

Time for Yukari to use Osaka aka Yukichi to explain why she doesn't profit.

Tomo and Kagura mess around.

Kagura doesn't gain weight easily. Osaka doesn't need to eat that much. Yomi is not happy.

Time for some quick sports festival events.

Costume race time. Tomo is a policewoman. Chiyo is the perpetrator.

No one will stand in the way of officer Tomo.

I like how Ayumu just had to ask what crime Chiyo committed and then she casually points out the two won.

Ayumu prepares for the bread eating contest. She's determined! Too bad the various bread types leave her confused. In the end, she got melon bread.

Yomi and Chiyo are in cheerleader outfits. However Sakaki, Tomo, and Kagura get to wear boys uniforms.

Kaorin is once more being Kaorin.

Don't worry about the relay race Chiyo. You've got Kagura and Sakaki.

Plus, clearly Tomo will save us all. Also, follow the advice of Sage Osaka.

Tomo's good start would have been more effective if she hadn't wasted energy.

Tomo reminds Yomi that it's a diet.

Chihiro, she does exist!

Ayumu's strategy has a glaring flaw.

Sakaki activates ponytail form! Her powers will lead them to victory.

Or would have if not for the fact Yukari was the anchor.

Yomi, juice is important!

To be honest, it wasn't my first thought either, but once TGB said "that kind", the mind wandered, and that was the only logical conclusion for that train of thought.

Kaorin usually provides all the yuri goggle material I need for AzuDai. :sd:

Without the former boss cat around, the Biting Cat decides to form an army to attack Sakaki.

Except Sakaki gets saved by Mayaa. As it traveled far to find her.

A small animal running towards a 17-18 year old vs a large animal running towards a 12-13 year old. Let's see the difference.

Ayumu enjoys the heated table.

Tomo learns a painful lesson or at least experiences pain.

Ah, been awhile since the cooking song.

Sakaki spends quality time with Mayaa.

Yomi, using another person's hand is cheating.

Tomo shall quiz Chiyo and impress Chiyo with her knowledge.

Tomo shall quiz Ayumu and be impressed by the knowledge of Osaka.

Chiyo suggests the idea of Ayumu becoming a teacher.

Yukari doesn't react well to that suggestion.

I'd like to be taught by Osaka. Wait, that came out wrong.

Ayumu, Tomo, and Sakaki. They know exactly what to do when at Chiyo's place.

Gather around Sakaki if you get lost.

Ayumu teaches us that playing with the bell is the most important part.

Tomo has received bad luck! Tying is good. Tying is bad. The problem with conflicting information.

The Knuckleheads shall chase Yukari for allowance. The knuckleheads shall run from Yukari.

Yukari ruins their confidence in the shrine.

Ayumu has come up with a charm involving splitting chopsticks neatly. After multiple tries that don't count, she learns how to from Chiyo.

I love the way Osaka suddenly starts scolding Tomo because Tomo failed to do it correctly.

It's time for Ayumu to say "Oh My God!"

Yes, three years go by pretty fast. In fact, they're over in just whatever the run time of the 26 episodes together would be. What?

Chiyo has split many chopsticks.

Kagura has managed to get in! Yukari had faith in her. Sure, she did.

Poor Tomo and Ayumu.

Well, at least Sakaki managed to get in to hers.

Time for Chiyo to celebrate with Ayumu and Tomo.

Yomi remains the only to not have gotten in. Fate is cruel.

Yomi shall get in, she is determined.

Ayumu has high quality tissues!

Eye drops make me nervous.

Ayumu has a cute sneeze.

Only Tomo would find Hay Fever fun.

To pay attention to the speaker or pay attention to that sound?

Tomo shall stand up! The crowd shall follow her will.

The time has come for the graduation song combined with quick scenes.

Chiyo is full of tears.

Yukari has wrecked the mood.

I like how Osaka threw together a quick donation box.

Yukari's happiness has been restored.

One has to wonder what an alternate Azumanga Daioh following Nyamo students would have been like.

Run for your life, Kaorin!

Chiyo suffers because Yukari just had to do it.

Taking a picture of Kaorin is scary.

Yukari can actually say something nice and touching.

Tomo is having way too much fun with the fact Yomi hasn't gotten in yet.

A charm powered by Osaka is clearly what Yomi needs.

Ayumu looks lovely in that outfit with the hat.

Yomi trusts the powers of Chiyo more than she does the power of Osaka. Yomi is a heretic.

Yomi has found her number.

I have to wonder if Yomi secretly enjoys hitting Tomo.

Let's hoist Yomi up. Wait, she's too heavy. Let's hoist up Chiyo instead.

The series ends with the six of them walking together.

I predict in the future, Ayumu will become the ruler of the world.

Well, that completes this re-watch of Azumanga Daioh. Even today, I'm still fond of the series. Just the presence of Ayumu alone makes it worth watching on occasion.
