This truly awesome manga got confirmed to get an anime in the future.
Wiki synopsis
Keima Katsuragi, a second-year high school student, is an avid dating sim gamer. He is known on the Internet as "The Capturing God" for his legendary skills to be able to "capture" any 2D girl in games. However, in his actual school life, Keima is known as otamegane, a derogatory portmanteau of the two words otaku and megane ("glasses").
At the start of the series, Keima receives an e-mail offering him a contract to "capture" girls. He accepts what is thought to be a challenge, and a demon from Hell nicknamed Elsee appears. She asks for his cooperation to help her in catching the runaway spirits. These spirits hide themselves inside the girl's heart, and Elsee suggests that the only method to force the spirits out is by "capturing" their hearts—making them fall in love. Appalled by the idea, Keima refuses after clarifying to Elsee that he is only interested in "capturing" 2D girls and that he detests reality. Nevertheless, with the contract already accepted, Keima would have to help Elsee no matter what; if they fail, both Elsee and Keima would lose their heads.
I think the majority of the fanbase reading this have been using a Lelouch voice for Keima in their head lol... everyone wants either Jun Fukuyama or Mamoru Miyano to voice the main character, Keima.
This manga along with Mago were the two adaptions I was fiending for this year, now I need Sket Dance to get announced...

I remember reading some of it awhile ago, but for whatever reason I sort of stopped reading it. In spite of the fact that what I read was decent.

Awesome news indeed. I've been reading the manga recently, and it's definitely among the better ones I've read. Definitely gonna watch this. Oh, and...

...Definitely. I'll be really disappointed if neither of them end up voicing him, because really, it'd be a perfect fit.

Wait. What? I didn't recognize this at first, but I read some of this. The premise was interesting at first, but I thought it worked better as a one-shot. Still, I'll check the anime out since I may like it better in that form.

I haven't read the manga, but I've heard good things about it and I've been hoping for an adaptation of it. Hopefully it gets a good studio and staff working on it.

"I can already see the ending!" (Sorry couldn't resist.... )
Considering the title, I am hoping they will take advantage of the format and do things like faux CG screens and such. And there are a few things I really do want to see animated--Keima's god-mode before his six screens; Elsee's cooking--especially her stay-fresh bento.
I've been reading this manga off and on (on a site that will not be named). I like it well enough that I'd purchase the anime (since last I checked the manga hasn't been licensed by anyone).

I can't remember which forum but it was filled with people just posting that lol.
Ah man I can't wait for this to get animated, so totally hyped...

I actually heard about the license, but totally missed this thread. One of my favorite ongoing series.

Oh yeah, if one of those guys don't get that gig, someone should get arrested somewhere.
edit - but the recurring quote that I always think of is
"Else, let me show you something good"
I don't even know why :P

Surprisingly Manglobe is animating this, should be their best selling show easily.

Also, the staff has been revealed (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=11571) (I guess?) Looks interesting to me, as I tend to like stuff Takayanagi and Kurata have worked on.

Still not sure what went wrong with that one. I had my issues with it, but would have expected it to sell at least averageish.
Anyway looking at Manglobe's other series, it wouldn't be saying much for this to sell the best, heh. Not necessarily bad shows, mind, just not ones that I ever heard sold well. Although I don't know how Champloo sold and can't check at the moment.

If it follows the manga reasonably well it's going to be a much better show than Blacksmith and thanks to said manga it's fanbase is much bigger pre airing. It's one of the enjoyable manga series going atm and I pray they get Miyano or FukuJun to voice the lead.

So, Keima's voice has been announced... It's neither Fukuyama nor Miyano. Damn.
Keima: Shimono Hiro (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=7636)
Elsee: Itou Kanae (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=66684)

I've been a fan of Shimono Hiro since he debut'd in RahXephon as Ayato Kamina.. RahXephon also happens to be my favorite anime tv series...
I think he can pull it off well enough, Miyano or FukuJun could've slept walk through it and excelled but Hiro's not a bad alternative at all.

So, in case you hadn't seen it yet, there's a PV out. Can be seen here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxVvgR3Pye0).
...Well, the animation looks nice. That's really about all that can be said regarding this video, considering how it shows practically nothing...

It's pretty much a "this show is over 6 months away" pv.

Indeed. Now I'm just curious as to how many episodes this will have, which should give us some idea of how much material they're gonna cover. (Personally, I'm hoping for a 2-cour series covering up to the Tenri-arc.)

Volume 10 of the manga, which is coming out on the 17th of September, will include an exlusive bonus DVD containing a prologue to the anime. (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-08-04/the-world-god-only-knows-manga-to-bundle-anime-dvd)
Ok, I now feel extremely tempted to import that book. Does anyone know of any stores where I might be able to get it?

CDJapan will almost definitely have it. They don't carry many regular volumes of manga, but they seem to carry all of the LE volumes that get released. Amazon.jp will definitely have it, but their shipping for books is terrible (if you just get that item, you'll pay about $34 in shipping) so you probably wouldn't want to use them unless there were at least several other things you wanted to buy as well (as each item would only add another ~$4 to the shipping cost).

If you're only buying one volume, CDJapan or HMV.jp would be your best option. Alternatively, you can use YesAsia. Amazon.jp shipping sucks if you're buying one book.

Ah, right, HMV was the other one people like to use. The problem with YesAsia is that their selection of manga isn't that much better than CDJapan's and I'm not sure if they tend to carry LEs even when they don't carry other volumes in the series. It is a place to check though, I meant to mention it.

Yes Asia has more than one might think. You just need to search in Japanese (insert other languages) (http://www.yesasia.com/us/search/%E7%A5%9E%E3%81%AE%E3%81%BF%E3%81%9E%E7%9F%A5%E3%8 2%8B%E3%82%BB%E3%82%AB%E3%82%A4/0-0-0-bpt.48_q.%E7%A5%9E%E3%81%AE%E3%81%BF%E3%81%9E%E7%9 F%A5%E3%82%8B%E3%82%BB%E3%82%AB%E3%82%A4-en/list.html) as their romanization is rather inconsistent. Bk1 is actually the best place for manga, but it does not have an English interface.

Yeah, their romanization can be really wonky at times, which can make finding some things a pain. I didn't think to search in Japanese though, since I'm looking at the site entirely in English. I noticed the language options at the top, but I never really thought of the implications of that. I'll have to keep that in mind the next time I'm looking for something and don't have any luck searching in romaji.
And there's some amusing fail on the publisher name on Yes Asia's product listing for those books. They list the publisher of the Japanese book as Xiao Xue Guan. Um, yeah, I don't think that's correct. But apparently that's how you pronounce the characters for Shogakukan in Chinese.
