<div>With the comic book based movie "The Losers" about to hit, the film's director is talking about other things that he'd like to hit up in the years to come. In talking with MTV's Splash Page while promoting The Losers, White talked about a project that's been in discussion hell for years with a lot of interest but has never made it to the greenlit stage yet for a number of reasons...

I still stupidly want this to happen.

Never gonna happen, least not with the mech designs owned by Big West :) They could probably do it if they totally redesigned the mechs ala Transformers. Still dont think they can use "Macross" since isnt that still in legal hell since HG still claims total global ownership outside of JP.

I think this would be a bad idea all around considering the track record of these kinds of films. They almost never live up to their original counterparts at all.

I'd also like this to happen. Its not like they can make it worse than Dragon Ball Evolution right?

I just hope for some cool toys, then even if they fail to make the movie interesting (or even palatable) I can get something I want from it.

Yes its all about me and my wanting of toys. What is wrong with that? :P

Has to be better than Wild Wild West as it failed on both counts.

If it at least increases the chances of more Macross coming here...
....
nah. :P

I have been considering getting Macross/Robotech toys for a while though (besides trying to get every train Transformer)

Some of the really cool Robotech toys were made before you were born. A 3 and something inch scale (non transforming) Valkyrie fighter, a SDF-1 bridge playset, any number of scale figures and even some dolls. A good number of which were US exclusives.

Chris Roberts still owes me $6 and 90 minutes in a dark room.

Well, I'm a fan and I do want the Robotech movie to happen, maybe they have to work the script to portray a Macross type story and get CG artists to make reasonable facsimiles for the SDF-1, the Veritech fighters, Destroids and Zentradi mecha or maybe HG and the movie company might have the pull to work an arrangement with Big West. one can hope because if one wants to see a live action mecha movie I'm a little tired of having to rewatch Robot Jox (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robot_Jox) (a good B type movie anyway ;) , let's not speak about Robot Wars (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robot_Wars_%28film%29) and Crash and Burn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crash_and_Burn_%28film%29))

PS1: The Losers was filmed in Puerto Rico, so that's a point in it's favor in my book. :)

PS2: Wing Commander wasn't that bad, it felt like those old WW2 submarine movies most of the time, even if the Kiltrathi moved slower than a lead weight in a drum of molasses and the SFX wasn't up to par...

I liked it too, but it felt like a step backwards, most Gundam fans will rather not remember it exists, it doesn't even appear on Badai Ent's site.:depressed:

This'd probably turn out like crap, but the Macross fan in me wishes it would happen. :P

If only because we'll never get any more Macross.

Damn it.

As do I. Even if the Macross story, characters and designs remain off limits, there's still a (potential) kick-ass movie in the very concept of military-issue transforming robots being utilized to protect Earth against various alien invaders.
