FUNimation made a couple of brief simulcast pick-ups recently with Dance in the Vampire Bund and Baka and Test but both of those were short run shows that ended just a couple of weeks after they picked them up. On their Facebook page tonight though...

While I would have rather Crunchyroll simulcast any series I watch, I'm fine with FUNimation getting what Crunchyroll doesn't, as long as they upload the episodes to YouTube, even though that's usually a couple of weeks later. Oh well, at least it means they have the license. How about Senkou no Night Raid if Crunchyroll doesn't get it?

I think Angel Beats! seems like a shoo-in for Funimation. For various reasons, of course, but T.K. is voiced by one Funimation's video engineer and production assistants, Michael Rivas. Not that it gives Funimation any priority, but it gives them good reason enough to want it.
I wonder if this message will be part of this (via Twitter)...
I am smiling. My friends, you will want access to http://www.FUNimation.com tomorrow.

Well, the odds of it being anything I want are slim, but congratulations for those who will like it.

Huh...thats...interesting. I wonder how that happened.

What a Michael Rivas in Japan (http://www.havmercy.co.jp/michael/profile.html) may look like. Website ( http://www.mikerivas.com/) and blog (http://michaelrivas.wordpress.com/). Given his work, it looks like he may be working with a Gaijin talent agency.

Is it wrong that I see that photo and wonder if he used it to apply to get the position of the new Doctor after David Tennant was to be written out? :sd:

I think the Michael Rivas that's voice acting in Angel Beats may be a different person from the Michael Rivas who has worked for FUNimation. Need to try and find confirmation on that (as otherwise the ANN entry is confusing as it is now).

So is working for a Gaijin talent agency. But I'm told the pay is good.

I spent about fifteen minutes trying to confirm it one way or the other, searching in English and Japanese. It's certainly possible that it could be the same person, although I'm skeptical.
[Edit] What a Michael Rivas in Fort Worth, Texas looks like (http://www.myspace.com/mesorivas). He's also much older.

Then he can afford to dress better.

More simulcasts are nice (especially more than one), and hopefully it'll be something I'm interested in.

I'm really hoping for Senkou no Night Raid and Rainbow. I think Night Raid in particular would be a wise thing for them to get.

Here's hoping that whichever series they have, they won't take took long to reveal what they actually are. After all, the Spring season is already active.

I forgot that there was still shows that haven't aired yet. Yojou-Han Shinwa Taikei and House of Five Leaves could be possibilities too.
If Yojou-Han Shinwa Taikei is as good as Maasaki Yusaa's previous things have been, I really hope Funi grabs that too.

I'm thinking Night Raid and potentially Rainbow as well.
I'm also going to go on a limb of sorts and say Kaicho wa Maid-sama!, only because they're overdue for another shojo title, in my opinion. Either that, or some other title that we're not expecting them to stream.

Considering this is Funimation, the chances of it being a show I want are very slim. The changes of it having competent subs and the stream actually working are even lower. More than likely I will just skip it, or wait until the episodes are up on YouTube or Hulu.

...maybe not, I hate their player. :P
...and then there is the long wait time for poorly encoded DVD and BDs.

Most (all?) of these new shows are native HD and if Funi releases them on Blu-ray there shouldn't be any problems with the video quality. That's one thing Funi does get right. I don't know about the DVDs though.
The long wait time doesn't bother me but I understand why it does others.

The long wait is annoying, but it doesn't bother me as much as some people, because I know that DVDs will be coming out eventually (which is better than before the show was licensed, when I'm not sure if the show will be released at all). Having said that, I do wish that Funi could release their shows a bit faster.

That depends on our opinion of FUNimation. If it's a show I really love, it will annoy me. If it's one I merely like, I don't mind them having it. On a side note, when did you translate Disappearance?

About a month ago. Well, it took quite a while, of course, as it's more than 2000 lines.
Coolest part was actually going to Imagica film studios to do the final checks.

Here's hoping that I'm actually included among that group. As always my main expectation is that we'll get the information soon. So I can move on to the "Yay" or "Nay" phase.

Well, one nice advantage to them getting K-ON! and simulcasting K-ON!! is that we'd have a much better chance for a Blu-ray release coming out here than we would with other companies.
And to be honest, I think to only release the series on DVD here and skipping a Blu-ray release would be rather cruel. Kind of like an evil so close and yet so far scenario.
Granted there's a question of whether or not Funimation is even interested in a show like K-ON! and it's sequel K-ON!! in the first place. That's always the biggest hurdle.

Oh, good. Time to update my sig.
In case people are curious, "The Tatami Galaxy" is the official international name that the production committee decided upon.
A literal translation of the title would be something like "Compendium of Legends of Square 4.5 Tatami Sized Rooms"
As in rooms like this:

It'll be nice to be able to watch both "House of Five Leaves" and "The Tatami Galaxy" (Yojo-Han Shinwa Takei) as I was curious about both series.

I can see why this is a good idea. noitaminA is kind of hit or miss with me though (I liked H&C, Nodame, and Moyashimon, for example).

Acquiring an actual time slot is an interesting development. However the real key is going to be how I feel about each individual show in the time slot.
Of course the real question. Is this going to be their only Spring 2010 related simulcast announcement or is there more to come?
