Pokemon Diamond & Pearl Anime Ending; New Series in the Works

With the official announcement of Pokemon Black and Pokemon White last week and the 13th movie premiering this July to signal the start of the 5th generation of Pokemon, it was just a matter of time for the Diamond & Pearl series to end. TV Tokyo will air the final episodes this fall. No word yet on when the new series will start airing, but it could start right around when the new games hit the streets.

With Canada being so far behind (they're only at around Ep. 130 or so), it'll take me a considerable while before I start caring about the end of D/P. It's been a fun ride, though. The D/P saga has churned out a good chunk of good episodes, for reasons such as having more characters make recurring appearances, the plot, Ash losing more often, and a new rival who's more of a douche than Gary/Shigeru ever was!

I'm far behind on it too, but I try to watch some of the new episodes whenever I can.

I'm just curious as to whether they will keep Hikari/Dawn for the new series or if they will have a new girl companion for Ash. I guess that depends on what the sprites for the female character in the new games look like.

It could be said that I am caught up - just with the Canadian broadcast. :catgirl:

Chances are that Dawn/Hikari will be replaced by the end of D/P. I don't see why they would, to be honest.

& on a side-note, they should really incorporate the male playable character in the story somehow (D/P or the new one). After all, they already have virtually everybody else in the games.

It does feel a bit quick, but I suppose it's expected. This was probably the slowest journey for them. I don't think Ash even has his eighth gym badge yet (suppsoed to be in the summer). Usually my method of "watching" is through the ep pics on serebii. Other times I'll try to keep up with watcing raws on other sites and if I wake up early in the morning, watch it on CN (they have horrible schedule).

Yeah, I'm expecting Dawn/Hikari to be replaced with a new girl and Ash to still be the main protaganist. I'd like them to reset the series, but it wouldn't make a difference either way.
