I don't like this one at all. The border is way too busy and does not mesh well with the central image. The image of Romeo and Juliet isn't bad, but I'm not a big fan of the pastel color pallet it uses.

I have seen this main artwork before. It's very appropriate for the boxset and I really like it. I will pass on this though as I own the half season sets.

Not a big fan of how the border partially frames the images. It's a very nice drawing though. They certainly could have done worse.

Looks nice. I may pick this up eventually. Although the border looks kinda big...like it covers too much of the front of the box

Very pretty cover! I really didn't care for the episodes of this that I saw, but the huge amounts of praise I've heard for it do make me wonder if I should give it another chance.

No. I hate this, if I can I'll try to get the half season sets, barring any on disc changes.

The image is nice, I don't like the border much though - it clashes a bit, the colours/contrast need to match up a bit more.
Might look better in the real though.

Same. This set took a long time to materialize though... for a while there I though it was going to go OOP like Wallflower (currently is)...

I was kinda hoping they'd do a Blu-ray release of this, but I'm thinking that's not likely now, unless this set sells remarkably well.

Anyways, looking forward to this being released.

I just got the half season sets and was delighted to find out that this cover was the cover for one of the DVDs. I am so glad I went for the older release and it cost me only $12 for both sets.

It's expected to be especially for the first complete collection release.

4 discs would probably be a digipak release ala Slayers, wouldn't it? Thought FUNi only used thinpaks for the 2 disc release + flimsy artbox...

Digipaks are not used very often by FUNimation. Thinpaks (w/flimsy artbox) can be used for 4 discs or more.

So can Liteboxes, which they have been using lately with their re-releases.

I don't think they've used digipaks for TV series since Slayers. All their most recent releases have been thinpaks and multi-disc keep cases. Their most recent digipak release (made with really nice, thick foiled card stock) was for both the Blu-ray and DVD release of Evangelion 1.11. Their 3 and 4 disc thinpak releases tend to use double disc thinpak cases.

EDIT: Ah, too slow.

Didn't Ouran get special treatment with its Complete Series release with that jazzed-up digipak release on DVD/Blu-ray back in late March?

Oh right, there was that. FUNimation has multiple people working on their packaging design, so there are occasional exceptions. The person in charge of Ouran's is a huge fangirl, so she wanted to put together something special.

I am not really crazy about the colors on this release. Too many pastels or something. Nevertheless, I have been looking to purchase this series, so I think I finally will with this release. Hope it rocks.

I know. I got mine brand new for $12 total. I wonder if they overproduced these and had to unload them on a liquidator?

That may be the case. I've seen them at every Newbury Comics I have been to for $10 a pop. Newbury Comics is New England CD/DVD/vinyl/pop culture type chain.

Hmm, I got the Complete Collection set in the mail yesterday. ^^ This is the first time that I've bought a complete series set from FUNimation that comes in two thinpaks so I don't know if their other releases are like this too, but I noticed that the surface of the box is rather "smooth." I don't know the right word to use, but that's the only thing I could think of. Maybe someone here might know what exactly I'm trying to say. Anyway, some pictures for those who are curious:

Thanks for the pictures! It does look like a pretty nice release. However, since I heard it's not that great of a show, I'll wait for a price drop or S.A.V.E. release before I get it.

Im thinking of picking this series up. I never really checked it out. Neither fansub, nor rental or anything like that. But i noticed a dealer i buy artboxes from on ebay has the entire collection for 15 bucks with free shipping, new. The thing is its the part 1, part 2 version. Was anything changed between that version and this one? Or are they the exact same disks? I must say after looking at the pictures EnigmaticWarrior posted (thanks) i really do like the artwork for this release.. but 14 bucks is hard to pass up. Are these the exact same disks, just in different packaging?

MORE importantly though, does anyone know if Funimation pulled any of their trademark BS butchering for this release? I.e. changing, or removing OP/ED's or anything like that? I was quite pissed when i saw what they did to FMP, and read about the utter crap they pulled with the Seto no Hanayome ED

I wont be picking it up if they did any garbage like that.

You need to stop bumping every single thread which is about an anime you're interested in, you could of just asked in the ED credits thread.

I own the two parts and this set is just them repackaged and I didn't see any of that credit stuff.

Kenshindono
03-20-2011, 07:42 PM
whats wrong with bumping a thread for the series to ask a question? o_O I figured posting in an existing thread about the series was better than making a whole new thread to ask about the differences between the two and to ask about any funimation shenanigans

Im not aware of any ED credits thread, i figured this was the best place to ask, and seemed the most relevant from my search. So this is definitely just the original DVDs repackaged? Hmm guess i'll have to decide if the snazzier art is worth the extra money. Im still wondering if they butchered anything in the show. ED credits or anything else

They haven't touched it. This is a box art forum to discuss box art, not really the show itself.

If I remember correctly, the 2-part sets had no (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xu1lK5GUVt8) artwork (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGguALlmiMQ) on the DVDs themselves, while this complete collection does.

Hope this helps.
