Beignets, from the Cafe Du Monde. Take a dough somewhat similar to the kind you'd use to make buttermilk biscuits. Deep fry it. Cover it with a mound of powdered sugar. Eat it while still hot.
It is GLORIOUS. Doughnuts are ruined for me forever, because I can not imagine a more delicious deep-fried confection than these beignets.
If you ever go to the French Quarter and decide not to get beignets, then I will never speak to you ever again.
