This one's a little late, as I've long since received and am currently enjoying my most recent bounty, but I felt I was overdue for another shopping confession.
It's now been over a year since Right Stuf ruined my life, and things seem to have gotten worse. Until a little over a month ago, I had never spent more than $70-80 on anime at a time and $60-70 or so in the Dark Lord's domain. I usually tried to practice
some sort of restraint. However, the recent offerings of the Weekly Specials were the perfect storm to utterly ravage my measly wallet.
FUNimation's been doing a bang-up job of selling me on Soul Eater. I went from having very little interest when they first announced their license to mild interest over the past year to putting the series on my wish list, all before I had even seen a single episode. So of course, when RS put the first 2 sets on the Weekly Specials, it was a no brainer. Love the show, love it, and the stickers they tossed in are pretty nifty.
I had wanted to see Rebuild of Evangelion 1.0 for a while if only to hear the revised English cast, but I dropped the ball on both seeing the film in theaters and picking up 1.01. Thus, I finally snatched up the 'final' version of the movie, 1.11 on Blu-ray, my second title under the BD format. Very gorgeous release, by the way. Top to bottom high quality release from the packaging to the video itself. I can't stress that enough. While I have nothing against them myself, if FUNi treated all their licensed titles like this and made less fan-unfriendly decisions, maybe people would have less to bitch about.
Finally, there was Becky Miyamoto. I had seen a few episodes of Pani Poni Dash a few years back, but I never got around to buying it. After discovering the evil that is Right Stuf, I found that there was a
very affordable bundle for the entire OOP ADV singles release + box. Unfortunately, other titles were higher up on my priority, so I kept putting it off. After they tossed it in the Weekly Specials, however, I lost any excuse to keep procrastinating. Glad I got the original release with all the crazy sign subtitles.
All three titles (Soul Eater Parts 1 and 2, Eva 1.11 BD, and the PPD! bundle) went under a single purchase, and I called it my "Right Stuf Customer 1st Anniversary" order. It set me back a whopping $112.96. Yes, that's nothing compared to what some of the crazies here have spent on a single series, but that's a lot for
me, damn it.
