Obscure + Confusion = The Land of Obscusion! The name might be temporary, but I like it. And, see, there's already an English logo for this show!

My Top 12 Needed Anime License Rescues video is up!

Posted 06-28-2010 at 10:30 AM by LordGeo
Once again I do a Top 12 video, and this time it's all about the license rescues! Of course, this is my personal list, and naturally there will be people wondering where certain titles are (I can already guess that the Top 3 I missed will be Sailor Moon, Utena, and Cardcaptor Sakura, with I'm Gonna Be An Angel being a close fourth)... But again, this is my personal list.

Feel free to look, and if you want to add one to the list, go ahead and post a comment!

Part 1 [Numbers 12 to 7]
Part 2 [Numbers 6 to 1]

Oh, and if you don't want to hear parts of it, YouTube does have that Zuzuvela button right now...

I thought that these videos were really fun to watch. I agree that I would love to watch the original Digimon and it really needs to be released on DVD uncut! Boxsets would be ideal. I've also been interested in seeing both Eat Man series and really wish that Vertical would consider publishing the manga series. I've always wanted to see Bastard! to. As for all the other series, I'am familiar with most of them, but dont really have much interest in them. Although I wouldnt mind Tekkaman Blade II, since I have interest in the original.

I'd also agree with rescues for Sailor Moon, Card Captor Sakura and Revolutionary Girl Utena. I never got around to collecting any of them and I sure wish I had cause I'd probably really enjoy them.

A title that I've always been interested in but seems to have gone out of print and with its previous releases becoming really expensive, would be Betterman. I always thought it looked pretty awesome. Another title that I would really like to see rescued would be Devil Lady. Now I already own it, and consider it to be one of my favorites. Although it might be a hard sale considering the animation looks a lot older and it can be corny at times.

Like I said I enjoyed watching these and thought they were well put together. You should consider doing more similar videos in the future.

Also when I was about five, I bought a Macron1 VHS tape at our local Dollar Tree and I thought it was awesome! Thats about all I remember about it now and I have no idea what happened to the VHS tape, but hey I only paid a dollar for it. I also hope you dont me commenting on this entry.

I don't mind at all. I did say that comments are encouraged.

I'll admit, looking at the list now, that it is focused on the action-heavy titles (though Eat-Man isn't always about the action), but I can't help that as I love action titles. But another thing I took into consideration when making this list was whether or not these could be actually viable rescues. If you notice, most of the entries are shorter titles, small OVAs or 12-episode TV series, with the longer titles, Dancougar mostly aside, having a heavy or least some real nostalgic value to them.

And the Gundam entries are just my own personal rant... I mean, really, Bandai has now re-re-released just about every Gundam they ever brought over with only 0079 TV (though we did get the recent movie trilogy re-release), Wing, and G remaining for the most part. What's up with dat?

I'd imagine one big obstacle that'd prevent Macron-1 being released would be the music rights. Saban's version used a lot of cover versions of '80s pop songs during the show, so there might be a problem there.
Mind you, I don't remember any '80s songs used when I first saw the show, but that was back in '88 and my memory would be a little fuzzy anyway. I don't remember any Srungle footage either, but the show I'd seen back then was the European version which didn't include footage from that series. It had the same theme tune, though.

Good selection, by the way. I could certainly go for a re-release of G gundam, that's for sure. Never did get 'round to picking up the second box set. Dancougar is one of those shows I'd heard about but never seen, so I've always wanted to see that one too.

The other problem with Macron-1 is that its terrible.

Now, don't get me wrong, I loved it as a kid, I rented it constantly from the video store, but...I found a few tapes of it at a Big Lots some years ago, and I watched them...and its truly amazingly terrible.

It actually does not make any sense. At all.

Yeah, just listening to Macron's opening makes you confused about the story. But like I said, I mostly put it in there on the off-chance that we could get GoShogun in its original form over here.
