2010 Picks of the Week - Company Breakdown (First Half)

The first half of the 2010 anime retail season is over and now it's time to list the releases that won the weekly Pick of the Week polls on the Mania.com forum. The list covers the winners from January 5 to June 29 along with their distributor:

Carrying over the momentum they gained from the tail end of the 2009 retail season, Section23 dominated the Pick of the Week awards in the first half of 2010 by winning 13 of the possible 26, of which 12 of them under their Sentai Filmworks label (the other was under the Maiden Japan label). They might not be known as A.D. Vision anymore, but the company some fans are dubbing as neo-ADV have still managed to maintain their poularity among the anime buying public. FUNimation was a very distant secons with only 3 wins. Ponyo scored the first-ever PotW win for the Blu-ray format. Collections have completely taken over the market now as Ikki Tousen Dragon Destiny Vol. #3 was the lone winner of the now-dead singles format.
