The Big Three O

While Anime USA was this past weekend, it will be later in the week before I post my report on it. The reason for this is that there's a more important thing for me to cover first: the fact that I turned 30 years old today.
My birthday began immediately when I got home from the convention when I discovered that while I was gone, my parents bought me a new bookshelf for my bedroom (after all, I'm the type of person who ends up getting a number of items and need a place to put them). For now I moved two certain types of items onto that shelf to give room for my other shelves for other books:
1. All my US volumes of Negima (with 23 volumes purchased so far, it's best that it gets its own shelf so that way my manga shelves can hold more room).
2. Peanuts books (because the only thing cuter than a 10-year high schooler and a book loving Ministra Magi is a little yellow bird named after a major US concert).
As for the the rest of the shelves, that is still in debate, although I do know that DVD's of some kind will be appearing on the shelf eventually (be it anime, classics that I want to show to my niece when she gets older, or a hodgepodge of discs).
A half day later (remember, I got home from Anime USA around 12:30AM Saturday night), the main festivities began with my eldest brother and his wife coming over for their usual visit (although I'll be receiving their gift, as well as the gift from the older brother who had just become a father, later in the month). After showing my brother the "grocery witch" Rifftrax short (and talking with my family a little bit), we headed out to Outback for lunch (I chose this over Golden Corral for numerous reasons, one reason being the fact that the place is usually very crowded on Sundays). In the end, Outback was the first of two places that I went to today that have had some remodelling this past week.
The other place that recently remodelled was my local Best Buy, which I went to with my father after Outback while the rest of the family picked up the birthday cake. I went there to pick up something to compliment one of my birthday gifts, the Rock Band 3 keyboard for the Xbox 360. While I was there, I did look at the new layout of the store (thank you, local Best Buy, for having the anime section in a different aisle from the horror section when it comes to DVD's) and try out the Kinect.
Upon arriving home (I would have gotten their earlier if my dad didn't need to gas up), it was time for some cake as well officially receiving my birthday gifts (with I picked up earlier, but saved up until today). Most of the gifts consisted of video games (got five games in total), with the rest consisting of the latest book in a series of Bloom Country collections spanning the entire run of the comic strip, the latest MST3K DVD collection (I'M DRIVING WITH MY MIND!!!), and a piggy bank that keeps track of how I have in it in coins (need to install some batteries before I can use it).
There's still some business that I need to get done birthday wise (i.e. my gifts from the elder brothers, an office party tomorrow). However, for now it's been a decent birthday.
