The 2011 Anime Draft - bci's Rapid Fire Segment (Part 1)

During the course of the drafting phase of the 2011 Anime Draft, studio host Buckeye fired off his version of Rapid Fire (one of the featured segments on FOX NFL Sunday). The questions were asked at the conclusion of each round. The questions are general in nature and are designed to give a broad overview of my opponents and who I'm considering to vote for along with my own characters. This post covers questions from the first 6 rounds. The second part of my Rapid Fire segment will be posted after the conclusion of the drafting phase.

After Round 1:

If you did not get your first choice, which character was your first choice that got taken by somebody else?

I couldn't answer this question because I managed to receive my first choice - Ikamusume. So I started answering the Rapid Fire questions with the second part of the Round 1 segment:

What characters were you hoping to take later that went in round 1?

The only characters in Round 1 that I was thinking about taking later were Major Makoto Kusanagi and Fate Testarossa, but moreso I wanted to take the Major because she has more firepower. Plus I had her before in a past draft.

After Round 2:

What is your game plan for this draft? Are you playing to a theme, picking all your favorites, going for all the popular characters in an all-out effort to win, or maybe a combination of those tactics?

Ika-chan is fed up with the humans polluting her oceans and wants to exact revenge on humanity. But she's too clueless and naive to do it alone - so I volunteered to assist her by forming a team than can help her achieve her goal of world conquest. It'll be a mix of characters with weapon skills, special abilities (like Kaname Chidori's "Whispered" ability), magical abilities, intellect, and the like.

Right now it's Ryo Hayakawa (of Princess Nine), but I haven't completely decided yet.

After Round 3:

Of the characters that have been drafted so far, who was on your list of characters for your first pick?

Ika, Taiga Aisaka, Alice Carroll, Sora Naegino, and Kaname Chidori. I only submitted a list of 8 characters so only 3 characters on my entry list remain undrafted.

After Round 4:

Everybody has made at least four selections. Did you get everybody you wanted so far, or did somebody beat you to the punch for a character that you really want? Who have you crossed out from your list of possible targets for later rounds?

Yomiko Readman, Ikaros, and Victorique were the characters I was considering drafting in later rounds, but so far I'm very fortunate to obtain the characters that I wanted. Hopefully that will continue later on in the draft.

Which of your competitors draft class do you like the best based on the characters on that team? Which draft class overall do you like the best based on theme?

Based on characters: I like Spirit's team a lot, especially since he took what I feel was the steal of the draft with Victorique. I also like Proximity's team.

Based on theme: ape2020, but he's always been creative with his team so no surprise there. Your theme's pretty good, too.
