There is no set strategy to this blog. Mainly when I feel like talking about a game, anime, etc, or making a random comment I will. So yeah I won't be as fancy or preset as others.

As of current my two images are Kuga Kokage from Sketchbook ~full colors'~ (left) and Awara Chikako from GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class (Right).

Spring 2011 Avatar Plans

Posted 03-10-2011 at 02:47 PM by Suwako Moriya
Seeing a commercial for A-Channel is a good reminder of the fact that it's only a few weeks before the Spring shows.

So the question is which to avatar-ize. There are a few maybe ones under consideration, but for now the three main ones that stand out are

A Channel

Manga gives me definite confidence in the Anime. Assuming the adaptation is respectable.

Also, it's 4-Koma, so there!

Nichijou

Sometimes 4-Koma and sometimes not, but I like what I've seen so far. So yeah.

The World God Only Knows 2

Given that I worked on the first series and liked it, I'll do some work on this as well.

-------------------

Anything else will depend on two factors. How I feel about some shows and how pressed for time I am.

I've yet to decide fully, but if you hadn't have leaped at God Only, I would have.

Looking at the Spring Guide...

I'll probably do the Kampfer specials, and there are a few others that might catch me if their episodes one impress, but nothing that leapt out in the same way that Madoka and Gosick did for the Winter season.

I hope you wont mind me using your blog - the first new series of the Spring 2011 season for me...

Hanasaku Iroha

I've just seen the trailers on Crunchyroll and the character designs are cute. It has a high class line up of seiyuu, including of course Aki Toyosaki.

If I minded, I would have complained in the past about it, since this isn't the first time we've used this entry to go back and forth in regards to who is doing what series.

Plus, it makes things easier anyway. As opposed to splitting up such discussion across two entries.

In any case, since you've decided to Hansaku Iroha, I'll go ahead and pass on it myself. Not that I was planning to do it, but it was one of those titles dependent on how the first episode went.

Right now, my main concern will be finishing up some Winter series and possibly putting others on hold because when push comes to shove, A-Channel and Nichijou will become the main focus for me.

Let's see I'll definitely finish Merry. I'll likely finish Dragon Crisis. Decent chance I'll finish Stratos. It gets more questionable in regards to Onii and Fractale.

Given the number of Spring series airing, even if we cut out the obvious, that still gives plenty of series to consider making avatars for.

I've made a few other notes of things that look interesting - some of which amuse me for various reasons. I wont post them here, but there are four other series.

Looking at the cast, it seems the series pairs Toyosaki Aki up with Itou Kanae again. That seems to happen a lot, but I'm happy it does.

I thought I commented on it, but I guess I didn't. So I will comment now in regards to "God Only Knows".

Had I not done the first season or had I ended up hating the show by the end, it would be easy to pass on doing the second season. Let someone else handle it.

Yet because I put so much work into season 1, there's the whole completionism thing going on for me. Plus, assuming there will be additional girls introduced in season 2, there's the whole being fair thing.

Not that I complete every series. I give up on some shows due to time. Others due to them falling apart. Also, some just become less avatar-able.

Another series that might be tempting me is Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi. In part because of the lead female and her orange hair of lovely.

I considered Hoshizora, but decided against it.

Well, that just gives me even more reason to make sure the orange hair gets some love. Assuming of course I can fit into the schedule.

Predictable as ever - Battle Girls makes my yurisenses twinge... The characters look fun, and hey - it's Koihime Musou in Japan. It even has the same plot (as the game). I might avatarise that one.

Heh, if the show fails to convince you to avatar-ize it, I'll take it as a bad sign for it.

One other series under consideration is Aria the Scarlet Ammo aka Hidan no Aria. Depends on how I feel after watching a bit of it. I think it should be replacing Infinite Stratos in terms of TBS airing.

Aria Ammo looks interesting at first (non watching) glance - so I'll consider that too.

Aria seems like a similar arrangement to IS, airing on TBS (and in the same slot if what Suwako says is trued) and based off a novel published by Media Factory. I wonder if Sentai might be simulcasting it too.

Unless the information I have is wrong, Hidan no Aria is definitely taking the slot of IS. However that won't be for another week. So it will be awhile before I can test it.

Speaking of testing. I tested out Ore-tachi Tsubasa or whatever. The WTF reaction of the first episode on one hand provides some level of curiosity, but on the other hand sort of makes avatar-izing it questionable.

On the other hand, Dog Days is some what tempting if for no other reason than the cute girls involved and fun nature of the first episode.

That being said with A-Channel, Nichijou, Hidan no Aria, and Hoshizora as candidates, I have to think about it carefully.

Well, the good news is I'm just about done with Winter, making it easier to focus on Spring. Maybe it's good for me that two of the shows mentioned haven't aired yet.

Ok, three, but one of them aka A-Channel airs today on MBS. So, yeah.

No need to worry about Dog Days, I've already got episode one downloaded and ready to roll out.

All right then, in that case, I'll skip it to save myself time. Back to work on Nichijou. Even though I still need to figure out the names of some people and the Japanese Wiki only does me so good for obvious reasons.

Also, it's just as well anyway. As there is still God Only Knows 2 to concern myself with and I need to try out Soft Tennis later for the heck of it.

Don't forget, I might also be willing to do Aria if I like it.

True, but I sort of a habit towards TBS shows for some reason. Or at least shows that have aired on TBS. Not that I've done them all.

I never bothered with Nyan Koi for example, and you ended up doing Amagami SS.

Still I'll see how things go before I decided whether or not to skip it.

In any case, Denpa should end up airing in Merry's slot next week. So that's another show for people to test out.
