One of the measures I use to determine series quality is if I become emotionally involved in it enough to shed a few (or in some cases a lot) of tears at the powerful scenes. With one exception, every show in the top 5 this year was powerful enough to get me to cry, and some parts still get me a bit misty-eyed just thinking about them.
5: Nobody's Boy Remi
Probably the show that the fewest people got a chance to see, Remi was one of the 3 titles ImaginAsian released...
I spent the better part of today trying to track down a record that I had chicken pox 20 years ago, only to be informed by my mother that she recognized what it was when I got it, and she never took me in and we just dealt with it. So I get to go get the blood test done for it tomorrow. To unwind, here are the next 5 of last year's top 15.
10: Red Garden
I could blame this on how much CSI I've watched in the last two years, but every so often I do come...

Years ago - 2003 and 2004, I think - I started doing top 10 lists for the year. It was a lot of fun, but then I got lazy and the amount of anime I was watching dipped, so the idea was on hiatus for a couple of years. Normally I would revitalize it with a top 10 again, but... *Note - in this case, saw means "all the way to the end." As many of you know, the endings to shows...
I saw an article on Anime News Network about an American girl who had gone missing in Japan, possibly to commit suicide. It's a sad story - but then I clicked on the forum thread about it. Oh my god. The nastiest things possible to say in such a situation were written there, along with people defending these nasty things to more sensible posters and the moderators. It really made me feel ill. Therefore, I decided the internet needed some sharing and caring, so I post this pic:
I admit it, I sort of stopped paying attention to new seasons for a while because I had so many other shows to watch. There were one or two I'd follow, but that was the most. I figured this season would be the same, but then came Gonzo's streaming, ANN's revolving reviews and watching an op/ed pack on nico nico douga, and it just... expanded. So after an episode or two, I've yet to see something I don't want to see more of. Here's a list of what's caught my eye so far this season.
