Cycling thoughts

This month marks the third anniversary of me becoming a cyclist commuter. And after three years and approximately 5000 miles, I've noticed some things about cycling.

Most drivers (around here, at least) are very polite and careful when it comes to cyclists. I've passed by, or been passed by, tens of thousands of cars in the last three years, and 99.9% of those encounters have been perfectly satisfactory or better, for which I am very grateful.

Sadly, it's far easier...

Why my brothers are awesome

So, we are having a family gathering. My brother, who used to post to these forums quite a lot (as Arcturus) is visiting with his fiancee.

My parents asked her where she had traveled around before. She mentioned that she *had* been to Niagara Falls before.

At which point, my two brothers and I *simultaneously* yelled out "NIAGARA FALLS? Slowly I turned..."

Yes, we rule.

But while I have your attention, I see that the great Jane Russell died yesterday. Surely one of the sexiest women in Hollywood history, and a perfect comic partner to Marilyn Monroe: while Monroe was an almost supernaturally sexy ditz, Russell was a more streetwise version, almost like a clever big sister--and with one of the most amazing figures ever seen in the movies.

Here she is doing an impersonation of Monroe in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
