Seems to me that AM has become an afterthought. At least they are still doing something.

I commend them for still going, although I do wish they would have picked a smaller project

Matchless Raijin-Oh 2nd Season Gets Subtitle-only Release
posted on 2012-06-02 22:40 EDT

The American distributor Anime Midstream announced at its panel at A-Kon on Saturday that it will release the second season of the Matchless Raijin-Oh (Zettai Muteki Raijin-Oh) television anime series. The company revealed that the second season of the show, which starts with episode 26, will be released with Japanese audio only with English subtitles. Anime Midstream has been releasing the first half of the series with both Japanese and English audio tracks.

The company noted it expects to release volume 4 in the series, which will contain episodes 16-20, on DVD in "a couple of weeks." Additionally, Anime Midstream noted it hopes to release volume 5, which will contain episodes 21-25, by the end of the summer. The company will dedicate volume 4 in the series to voice actress Cassandra Hodges, who passed away last June at the age of 28. The company also noted that it does not have the rights to release the four-episode Matchless Raijin-Oh OAV sequel series.

The company first announced its license to the 51-episode television anime series in 2009.

The company also announced at the panel that it is relocating from St. Louis, Missouri to the Dallas, Texas area.

Re: Anime Midstream's Matchless Raijin-Oh

The second half won't be dubbed, huh? Seems like history is repeating itself, given what happened to Gaogaigar. Then again, since both won't be entirely dubbed, I guess it evens out. Raijin-Oh's dub was rough around the edges anyhow (also, I'll be more encouraged to look forward to and enjoy Rica Matsumoto's performance as Jin  ).

After all, the circumstances are much more understandable for the dub cancellation in this case (whatwith Midstream being beginners and all that). At any rate, moving to Texas may be beneficial for Midstream in the long run, since it's been proven to be the breeding ground for licensing company greats, as long as they avoid Illumitoon's pitfalls.

Pity about the follow-up OVAs, though. I just hope the next series they can acquire is shorter and won't come with a silly, outdated condition.

With that said, my condolences to Cassandra. Dying at such a young age is horrible. :( What Midstream is doing is very considerate, rather.

It doesn't really surprise me that the dub was dropped for the second half. I'm just surprised that they are still working on it.

- What are you guys up to right now? I heard a while back that you're relocating to Dallas, and I'm just wondering about the status of that, and when we can possibly see more releases. Would future dubs be done in Dallas?

- While we cannot comment on the status of future projects at this time, we are preparing for the upcoming release on Raijin-Oh volume 5. We have maintained several of our staff from our original St. Louis location and look forward to providing further releases for our fans.
