A very cute, touching episode. Shizu is my favorite so far, but Kuro and Ako were also pretty cool. The backgrounds were also lovely.

- Ao-chan's voice for Shizuno is really really fun. Just listening to her talk makes me happy.

- Hahah, Nodoka's boobs amaze the world even now.

- Oh how I missed supernatural mahjong.
- Swimsuits! And holy crap Kuro is stacked.
- Awww... Shizu doesn't want her beloved majhong club coach to leave. ;_; So melancholy.
- Ako leaves. Nodoka is going to leave. Shizu is going to be all alone. ;_;

- Nooooooooo pants, nooooooo panties! Go go Shizu!
- Ako grew up very very pretty.
- And Ako, Kuro and Shizu form a new mahjong club. <3 <3

Holy shit, I could not possibly have asked for a better first episode. Having Nodoka as the familiar hook through which to introduce the new cast worked perectly, and I am already completely, utterly in love with the new girls. Spectacular first episode!

It runs in the family.

And this is why I didn't want to discuss a lot of spoilers. Nodoka being around for most of the first manga chapter/episode was an incredible surprise for readers and I wanted to have that surprise present for anime-only viewers. It's a great way to tie this series to the main series. The new characters are wonderful, and yet we'll add more next episode as the other two join in!

That's her normal clothes during the summer. On the DVDs released in 2009/2010 for the original series, they put "picture dramas" on volumes 3-7 (and on the BD-Box) where there's a few images with audio provided by the seiyuu. Picture drama 7 continues from the end of this episode. There's subs out for the DVD versions now.

Saki fashion always was a little... different. Maybe she's taking a page out of Kunihiro Hajime's playbook.

Oh god this episode. SOOO AWESOME.

Love Shizuno, Ao-chan's voice is perfect, and she just so blatantly isn't wearing a thing under that sweatshirt. And it only gets better when she chops the sleeves off. Damn.

I knew Nodoka was going to be involved, but really liked how this played out. Ako is stunning with her longer hair, and Kuro is just gorgeous.

Really looking forward to what happens next.

I'm pretty sure its actually the exact same dress from before...only...modified to handle expanded assets. And good god is it hot.

-The cherry trees are in bloom. I didn't know they could bloom pantsless lolis though.
-Little girls play Majong. I thought it was just a game for old people and illegal gamblers.
-The color palette in this show is ridiculously pink. The background characters have nice adorable design though.
-Sexual harassment sempai.
-What it's over already? Oh just a playing montage.

-Shizu hates pants.
-"Nodoka's on tv. I wanna be on tv. We must defeat Nodoka!"
-Damn it Nodoka show some shame! That outfit covers less than naked apron.

I am sad that my favorite character will likely never be seen again. I shall miss you background girl with big round eyes who can't close her mouth.

That girl amused me so much with her facial expression. Actually, they do all seem to be named in the credits and listed on the official site if I'm not mistaken. That might be a sign they will show up again (as listing very minor characters on the official site is unusual, but it does happen rarely).
