Episode 1
Why hello there Tomoya and Sunohara.
Hyoutarou may be even more apathetic than Tomoya, and Fukube is definitely nothing at all like Sunohara. Eru is...very energetic. Also very cute. And "Chitanda" is an unusual name. Huh...Hyoutarou seems to see something in Eru's eyes...and then suddenly her hair grows like vines and wraps him up. What? And then mysteries. Well, that was certainly interesting. And very, very good. |
Re: Episode 1
Episode 1:
- A gray high school life. Heh. Really that doesn't sound too bad. Colors can be dramatic. - Heh, they really are so very Tomoya and Youhei-like, at a first glance anyway. - Huh there's this weird sort of very subtle blur filter on things. It's interesting, I'm not sure what to make of it yet. - Everyone, meet Eru. I love her already. <3 - The OP! Visually, it's amazing as always for KyoAni. The song isn't bad by any stretch but I think it's going to need a few turns to grow on me enough to consider importing it. - Oh man I'd forgotten Eru was Satou Satomi. Ricchan! Wendy! - Heh, Houtarou's plan to have a one-person club has been destroyed. - Eru's eyes are sparkling! She's found a mystery! - God she's beautiful. Like, seriously. - Holy shit, that hair scene. Wow. - Ahaha, wow. Houtarou is powerless against Eru. Eru doesn't need a water gun of plot convenience like Tsuritama. She just uses her MAGICAL EYES and you bend to her will. Oh and her crazy hair. - Nice funky animation in Satoshi's scary story scene. - Hmmm, what is Houtarou up to? Trying to squirm out of joining the classics club? - He's got her hooked in on the story. I'm not sure to what end though. - Ahhhhhhhhh, right. Heh. Instead of dealing with a more troublesome mystery they'd never solve, just set up something Eru will get excited about, but that takes way less effort for you. Clever. - But as Satoshi points out, that doesn't seem to be all... Ridiculously beautiful animation, and no less than I expected. Very nice feeling to the first episode. Beyond the obviously beautiful visuals, all its strengths were very subtle, but no weaker for it. And I really like all three characters so far. Can't wait for Mayaka next week. |
Re: Episode 1
An absolutely gorgeous work from KyoAni. The use of colors, lighting, and background art/movement help set the stage in what looks to be a real world. It's like Shoushitsu, but in a TV format!
All three of our main characters introduced are wonderful. Houtarou does a wonderful job as the slacker/brains of the group, Eru is absolutely adorable (especially in Houtarou's delusions), and Satoshi is Sunohara again! While in terms of huge events, nothing happened, but we got to know part of our main cast well and how they normally are. Given how KyoAni adapted The Second Raid, I'm not surprised at the pacing. It's slower than other shows, yet not slow enough to feel dragging. I like this style after seeing it in TSR and more recently in Morestsu. Music-wise, Hyouka hits the right notes for me. I love the classical feel that Tanaka is going for and how it accompanies the mood. The OP is soft, yet powerful. I'm definitely importing it. Put everything together, and I'm regretfully considering importing this again. If only it wasn't 11 volumes... |
Re: Episode 1
It occurs to me that they never actually addressed what the "Classics Club" is actually for.
...not that it matters, probably. |
Re: Episode 1
The animation was spectacular. Especially the eyes.
Wendy is pure love. Well, main dude does turn out to be a chuunibyou asshole. I also don't think the voice fits his character design. Hopefully he gets over it soon. The power of Eru's eyes compel you to be more positive! Fukube, on the other hand, is just pure awesomeness. |
Re: Episode 1
-Our hero is a lazier Kyon.
-Chitanda is a funny name. I shall simply call you Tanda-chan. -I think they locked you in Tanda-chan because you are a crazy dryad. -Tanda-chan is curious! -Houtaro went out of his way to make sure he didn't have to go out of his way... Okay. Kinda slow yet very fitting for something I just watched in the dark in the rain. |
Re: Episode 1
Well that was one of the most beautifully animated episodes of anime I've ever seen.
More importantly, Chitanda is adorable and a lot of fun. And there's very obviously something going on with her eyes. And so far, I actually like both of the guys. |
