Re: Seven Seas Entertainment [General Thread]

Just discovered this while discussing the most recent volume (volume 4) of A Certain Scientific Railgun.

In the original, Misaka-Imouto refers to herself as Serial #9982. Seven Seas mistranslated it as #9992.

Side-by-side comparison of raw/official translation

---

There also seems to be a print error that a few people have reported (myself included).

That's a shame. I can deal with it, but when they reprint volume 4 I'll be sure to buy it again as I've already bought this and would of bought it if I already knew this earlier, too.

Got a quick reply this morning from Adam Arnold, the Senior Manager for Seven Seas' manga line. Good to know those errors will be corrected in the next printing. I'll likely purchase a new one, as well.

Is the number important?
I was planning to order volume 4 of Railgun today or tomorrow (before my Got Anime? membership expires) and I am wondering if this is a good reason for putting it off.

EDIT: I am not bothered by the print error. I just want to know if the difference in the serial number has any effect on the story.

Somewhat; though later in the volume (near the end, actually) it's stated as #9982 (the correct translation) -- so it was just that one spot that it was incorrect.

As reported earlier, Seven Seas has confirmed that the Dance in the Vampire Bund manga will soon be wrapping up (all pointing towards volume 14 being the last release)--

I saw a while back on your Twitter, that you mentioned Dance in the Vampire Bund would likely be wrapping up (in Japan) at volume 14. Did Tamaki Nozomu or Media Factory confirm that?

It would seem that Seven Seas has picked up one of the many Alice manga spin-offs, this time with Alice in the Country of Joker: Circus and Liar's Game (ジョーカーの国のアリス~サーカスと嘘つきゲーム~).

The first volume is being solicited for February 1, 2013.

No official PR from Seven Seas yet.

North American publisher Seven Seas Entertainment has confirmed that they will release the Alice in the Country of Joker: Circus and Liar's Game manga adaptation of QuinRose's Joker no Kuni no Alice fantasy romance adventure game. The manga began its serialization in Ichijinsha's Monthly Comic Zero-Sum manga magazine last April. The first volume of the manga is currently listed for a February 1, 2013 release. The title tells the story of the protagonist, Alice, who finds herself in a fantastic circus-prison world that changes drastically depending on the season.

Seven Seas has also confirmed that they will be releasing Hazuki Futaba's Crimson Empire: Circumstances to Serve a Noble, the manga adaptation of the QuinRose game of the same name. The manga began its serialization in Ichijinsha's Zero-Sum Ward magazine in 2008, and has been collected into three volumes so far. The game tells the story of Sheila Rozann, a maid who serves the second prince of a royal family who also acts as his bodyguard, having been trained as an assassin when formerly enslaved.

Seven Seas Entertainment announced last year that it licensed the manga adaptations of another game in the franchise, Alice in the Country of Clover (Clover no Kuni no Alice). Tokyopop published the first Alice in the Country of Hearts (Heart no Kuni no Alice - Wonderful Wonder World) manga adaptation in North America, and Yen Press has since picked up the license. The Alice in the Country of Hearts: Wonderful Wonder World anime film opened in Japan last July.
