Hello!

This survey is SUPER important to us and we appreciate your help.

To prove this: From the survey results, we'll select 10 people to get an early Christmas present. One DVD/Blu-ray of your choice and another for a friend (or you can keep the second one for yourself)

All of this info will be safe and secure. These answers will shape how we go forward in 2013 and beyond...

This survey is a little long -about 30 questions, but please stick with it! There's a progress bar up top to keep track.

Thank you for participating in our survey. Your feedback is important to us.

This survey will close around November 20th. We'll announce the people selected to get the DVD/Blu-rays a few days after.

Lance Heiskell
Your Friendly Neighborhood FUNimation Guy

Re: FUNimation Fall 2012 Survey

I took the survey.

The questions about whether or not we buy sub-only sets and from who were the ones that stood out to me the most.

I wonder what it could possibly mean. :sd:

I can't imagine FUNimation is actually going to start doing sub-only releases.

Probably not, but it's interesting that they asked, nonetheless.

Yes, definitely interesting.

I just took the survey. Pretty much, I felt compelled to let my opinions about streaming be known.

Re: FUNimation Fall 2012 Survey

I just finished the survey. Certainly some interesting questions. Especially the Sub Only thing.

It's clear that for Sentai and NIS Sub Only is working for them. Funimation would be pretty stupid to ignore that fact. I do agree that it is unlikely under the Funimation Brand that they would release anything Subtitle only. It's too strong a link that if an Anime gets licensed by Funimation it gets dubbed. The question isn't even asked. I doubt Funimation would want to break that as its less hassle for them.

BUT i can totally see them opening up a new brand for sub only sets. A brand that only true industry followers would know was linked to Funimation. Separate everything but keep it in house. So separate Industry Panels, Logo's, Website Listings etc. I think people should want Funimation to do this too. If they do it means we'll get more shows.

Also it would make sense for them when it comes to judging weather to take a show they are streaming and license it for home video release. They could easily set out to goals to hit. One for sub only and the other gets the dub.

Like i said the success of Sentai and NIS Sub releases is I think becoming harder and harder to ignore for Funimation.

I don't think they need to go to such extremes. All they would need to do is create a specific sub-only label and at their industry panels clearly separate the FUNimation titles from the sub-only label. They could probably separate their announcements as follows:
  • Streaming and simulcast announcements
  • Sub-only label announcements
  • FUNimation dubbed release announcements

Re: FUNimation Fall 2012 Survey

So I just got an email from Funimation about this survey and it says

"So there's this survey...
It might possibly help shape the future of the anime industry. You might want to take it.
Just saying..."

I think sub only releases from Funimation are very possible in the next year from Funimation.

Re: FUNimation Fall 2012 Survey

I filled a survey out a couple days ago. Got another email today, and had forgot about it. The first half seemed the same, but the second half felt like a LOT of new questions. And it didn't bark when I put in my email at the end. I wonder if the extended it with more questions? Or maybe I just didnt finish the last one?
