Kimi ni Todoke Discussion Thread
This is Mamiko Noto's other series this season. It's shoujo romance anime about a girl who looks creepy, but is actually very sweet. Oh, yeah, Production I.G. is producing it. It has Mamiko Noto as the lead, so it's a MUST watch.

*Watches Preview* Yeah, I'm definitely trying this one out.

Episode 1
If the initial watch is any indication then this series has definite potential. Noto Mamiko is definitely working nicely as Kuronuma Sawako. Perhaps I'll have more thoughts later. Either way I'm interested.

Re: Episode 1
I really liked this adaptation. The colors make everything come alive a lot more. It was true to the story and although they had a lot to cover in episode one (prologue had 60 pages in the manga) they did a good job. I'm already looking forward to episode 2.

Re: Episode 1
I don't normally go for straight-up shoujo, but the Production I.G name is enough to make me try a lot of things I wouldn't ordinarily try. Watching Kimi ni Todoke, the first thing I noticed is the distinctive visual style. It's as impressive from an artistic standpoint as it is from a technical standpoint. The second thing I noticed is that the female lead is voiced by Mamiko Noto, whose voice I'm generally not that crazy about, but ends up being a surprisingly good fit for the character. So my initial impression was really positive. The "shy, misunderstood girl falls in love with kind, handsome guy" thing isn't particularly original, but there's almost certainly more to the plot than just that--it's only the first episode, after all. I don't know if I'll be able to stay with the show for its entire run; the shoujo-ness of Ouran led me to drop it after six or seven episodes even though it was a funny show with its heart in the right place. I'll be sure to give it a sporting chance, though.
