Google Maps Japan + Satellite
Don't know if this has already been mentioned, but Google Maps for Japan is available. It looks like Tokyo is the only one that has street level sat. images though.

I had to do a show and tell at work recently, so I put together a few Quicktime panorama VRs from the pictures I had. The files are pretty big, so be patient. It works better if you save the files...

Programming the IME/Kotoeri
Both Windows (IME) and OSX (Kotoeri) have pretty good Japanese language engines for inputting Japanese. For programmers, they also provide APIs to access that engine and use its language analysis...

Sony has officially dropped (http://www.sme.co.jp/sme/pressrelease/20040930.html) their LabelGate copy protection scheme effective 11/17+ releases. Hopefully they'll see an increase in CD sales now...
