Re: Anime to test BD players upconversion?

Really? When I watched the opening sequence, I thought the I saw the whole thing break down compression-wise around the scene of the characters floating on stars as Haruhi is running with the...

Re: FUNimation to fans: We WILL do single DVDs!

I'm so glad that I had an urge to go look at TRSI this morning! I preordered NHK #6 the instant I spotted it.

To any FUNi reps lurking around here: Thank you for being reasonable about this! I...

Re: FUNimation / Geneon New Title Solicitations (Dec 08)

Aaaaand screw you Funimation. I'll rent the last discs of both series and sell the rest. No sale for me, Funi...[/QUOTE]

My sentiments exactly. I'm debating whether I want to wait for my roommate...

Re: Anyone else spotting Karin?

I *FINALLY* spotted Volume 4 at Best Buy yesterday, but I don't have the first 3 Volumes, so it was kind of pointless. I think I'm going to buy all 4 through Amazon with free Super Saver shipping...

Re: Funimation: Welcome to the NHK

All I have to say is this: I own volumes one through five of "Welcome to the NHK", I am eagerly awaiting volume six, and I will not be buying a collection to get the last four episodes after I...

Re: Anyone else spotting Karin?

Well, if online retailers aren't getting it that doesn't bode well for me being able to snag the artbox on or offline... I guess I'll have to wait for a cheapo collection, if it ever comes. :(

Oh...

Anyone else spotting Karin?

So has anyone else been able to locate any of the Karin releases that were supposedly coming out yesterday? Every random ZIP code I enter at BestBuy.com has them listed as unavailable and the site...

Manga Entertainment released both the OVA and Movie versions of Macross Plus on DVD- the OVA's are bilingual and were also released on VHS. The movie version is subonly.
They also released Macross...

Re: Fond memories of ADV

My second Anime on DVD purchase was the Robotech Collection boxes ADV put out around 2001. The sheer amount of extras they released with all seven of those boxes really impressed me. I mean, the...

Re: What recently canceled ADV discs "escaped" into the wild?

The only one I've spotted is NHK #5. I snagged all four copies at that Best Buy and I haven't seen a single copy since (one copy for myself and the other three for those who asked for it here). I...

Re: ADV retains Best Student Council and Robotech

Ok... So I panicked when I snagged the Protoculture Collection. I'm glad they haven't lost everything, including their shirts. :) I still think they moved 5cm to out-of-print because they're...

Re: More ADV titles discontinued

The title that was pulled was Robotech, the 1980's-era Macek baby, not the more recently-released SDF Macross, unless that one's been pulled by HG too. I speculated on the very first page that the...

Re: If ADV released Evangelion Platinum on Blu Ray, would you re-/buy it?

http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=1405

After 3 years, DVD was very slowly being adopted as well. Many were clinging to their VHSes and LaserDiscs at the time and calling DVDs a fad. It may not...

I, like some of you, am mainly concerned that we're going to start seeing something along these lines (http://i32.tinypic.com/3532jnm.jpg) in R1. I'm glad that these shows aren't totally dead, but...

Re: If ADV released Evangelion Platinum on Blu Ray, would you re-/buy it?

Yes. Yes, I would. I'd mumble the entire time I was standing in line at the checkout, but I'd be there in a micro-second.

Re: Kanon volume 6 (and other ADV titles) suspended "indefinitely"...

The way I understand how ADV works is that there are two rights at work here: The Japanese distribution rights and the ADV dub rights. The Japanese distribution rights are purchased from Japan (duh)...

Re: Kanon volume 6 (and other ADV titles) suspended "indefinitely"...

Hmm... That'd be nice if they could work out details. If Lace bought the rights to the dub from ADV, who at this point I'm sure would welcome the revenue, they'd just have to negotiate the...
