Re: Sentai Filmworks licenses Psychic Squad (Zettai Karen Children)

No, they normally don't.

and Sentai pretty much always keeps their OP/EDs as the Japanese BD/DVD releases have them as well, normal logo Japanese credits and everything.

So I'm really not sure...

Re: Anime Boston / Sakura-Con 2012 Discussion Thread

I can't imagine that Sentai would just announce this without reason. If I were to speculate on what happened, then I would guess that Sentai contracted the dub studio to produce the dub with the...

He did the voice of Shesshoumaru, not InuYasha.

Re: 1 & Only Discontinued / OOP Anime Thread
Personally, this is how I feel it should be. 12 or 18 months between re-releases is little ridiculous in my opinion.

Re: Media Blasters update: Record of Lodoss War & an upcoming "really big" anime title?

The problem doesn't seem to be that MB doesn't want to release it, but the fact that Kadokowa doesnt have any acceptable masters for it. The only masters available right now are the old LD ones and...

Re: Fate/Stay Night OOP?

Geneons deal with Funimation expires sometime ago. They renewed some of the series but it does not appear that Fate Stay Night was one of them. The last boxset has been out of print for a while now.

Re: Sentai Filmworks licenses Kurenai

"Today, Sentai has licensed nearly all of Japan. Funi will have to settle for Okinawa."
Re: Sentai Filmworks licenses Kurenai

These days, the license is not the expensive part, at least not in most cases. The localization and dubbing costs are where it gets pricey. A lot of shows now have little or no upfront cost and the...

Re: Media Blasters lays off 60% of its staff

Well it depends on how one looks at it. MB decided to add extras that weren't originally approved by Toho. I don't know why you would put extra materials on DVDs/BDs that's not approved by the...

Re: Media Blasters lays off 60% of its staff

Even if everything is true, you can't necessarily assume anything incompetent or sinister is going on. It could be as simple as money is very tight at the moment and they have to prioritize who and...

Re: New This Week: Releases for the Week of February 21, 2012

Broken Blade on Bluray is already on it's way to me. I enjoyed the first part on Anime Network and I'm looking forward to seeing the rest in HD.

Re: Media Blasters lays off 60% of its staff

There are a few copies for sale on eBay, but we have no way of knowing if it's Media Blsaters selling them. I wouldn't jump to conclusions based on hearsay from an obviously angry blogger.

Re: Sentai Filmworks licenses Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works

Aniplex only picks up titles that they produced. This was produced by Geneon.
Plus TBS seems to have international rights. Given that, it's not really surprising that Sentai landed it.

I have to say I'm surprised to see GetBackers being released in one complete set, but I guess they did the same with Orphen after all. It's also nice to finally see the Guin Saga Bluray. I have to...

Re: New This Week: Releases for the Week of January 31, 2012

The only definite for me is ef - A Tale of Memories on bluray. In fact, it's probably the release I've been most excited about in a long time.

I may pick up the Phantom bluray later as I never...

What were you expecting to hear? "Yep, they're toast." Not gonna happen on ANN by a company rep.

Anyways, sad to hear more people losing jobs.
Re: FUNimation Sues A.D. Vision, Sentai, Others for US$8 Million

So a thought just occurred to me. We know that most of the various companies in this lawsuit acquired some sort of assets from ADV. however, it doesn't appear that Sentai or Switchblade did. They...

Re: Media Blasters lays off 60% of its staff

Yes, they laid of several employees a little while back. That mainly had to do with the closure of their manga division.

Media Blasters had several additional businesses besides anime distribution,...

Re: K-ON!: Complete Collection (Anime Legends)

Because sadly hardly anyone bought the first few volumes in stores.

I would grab this if it were bluray, but it's a definite no on DVD. I guess I will try to pick up the K-On! bluray singles before...

Ah, so I guess Kobato was licensed from someone else and not them?

You know, that's a very, very good question. The DVD sets from Sentai don't have any logos from the Japanese licensor,...

Re: Bandai Entertainment to Stop Releasing New DVDs, BDs, Manga

There was some nasty fallout from the failure and closure of NewType USA. Allegedly, Kadokowa was angry with ADV for attempting to renegotiate terms and ultimately pulling the plug. Since the...
