It doesn't have the nostalgia for fans that the original show did, which is a major hit against it.

They definitely wouldn't have been able to afford the original...

I sort of expect the reason why a box of the relicensed OVA 1/2 isn't solicited yet is so that hopefully they could just do a big 1/2/3 box BD, but like you said, 3 doesn't have a BD in Japan yet.

A friend and I reviewed the DVD together and honestly, both of us looking could not find the commentary.

The DVD case itself doesn't list a commentary either. Is it hidden somewhere on the disk?

Every upscaled BD they've done since (and including) Ouran has been quite good.

And they outclassed the Japanese FMP and Fumoffu on BD.

Dragon Ball films were cropped to the aspect ratio they were intended to be seen at in theaters, not much of a problem there.

It actually appears slightly cropped on the top, and then stretched to widescreen.

I'm not just talking about the commentary. As I said, I don't remember the commentary exactly, he has been specifically mentioned by writers at conventions though.

Still doesn't change what the explained reason from multiple staff members of the original series/film is, which includes Omega in most lists of who missed out due to not existing yet.

Which does ignore that while Astrotrain does appear in the film, he doesn't really do much that could be defined as 'showing his personality.' Outside of the line about getting back to Cybertron I...
