I would be far more inclined to buy anime in a full boxset rather than in two parts.
Especially in the UK when a full release isn't guaranteed. I wonder who is forcing these restrictions on...

I don't know how expensive they are, but I know for smaller screens 1080p is possible with Vizio. I don't know if it's budget or not though, and if so how good they are...

I completed Braid earlier, total play time is 6.4 hours according to Steam.
I found out that after the main game there are optional stars to also collect, which don't have any particular benefit...

Braid.
This game is absolutely epic, one of the most original games I've ever played. Basically it's a platformer with HD 2D graphics and you have the ability to fast forward and rewind the action...

I started Lock's Quest yesterday, it seems to have all the polish of a proper JRPG game, and it's really original, made by the guys who're doing Scribblenauts, I recommend anyone to pick it up =)
