Re: [US] Laputa: Castle in the Sky

So this has definitely been verified for the movie, and is not just a case of the subs having an uncanny similarity in most places? Easy way to see for sure is to check whether or not the key line...

Re: [US] The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

So no nasty surprises like overlays or anything? If not, glad to hear that this is a safe purchase!

Re: [Blu-ray] Baccano! Complete Collection Review

Why on earth is this release spread across three discs? 16 episodes with two PCM audio tracks should fit more than comfortably on two BD-50s. Are they only using single layered discs?

Regardless,...

Re: (US) Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind

Hi Pepperidge,

Wow... it feels like I'm having a flashback...

Seriously, in 2011, we STILL have U.S. companies giving NO CREDIT to the original Japanese Seiyuu (Voice Actors)?!

Does anyone...

Re: (US) Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind

No, the Nausicaa BD definitely doesn't have dubtitles. They are literal subs, as far as I can tell. Also for the record, the first Kiki DVD that Disney released didn't have literal subs either.

One...

Re: [US] Summer Wars

Watching this again, I noticed a bit of an unfortunate flub in both the subtitled and dubbed translations.

(minor spoilers)

At the end, the Ueda baseball team was supposed to emerge victorious...

Re: FLCL: Complete Collection (Blu-ray) (Classic Line)

So, what exactly are the special features and audio codecs used on this release? I don't think they've been officially confirmed anywhere.

Re: Evangelion: 2.22 You Can (Not) Advance (Blu-ray)

Gah, that blue banner looks hideous! Hopefully it's just some kind of insert wrap-around and not actually part of the box!

Re: FLCL: Complete Collection (Blu-ray) (Classic Line)

Personally, I'm only getting this for the uncompressed audio. Although I am still anxiously awaiting to hear details on the special features.

Re: Evangelion: 2.22 You Can (Not) Advance (Blu-ray)

I wouldn't mind this packaging if FUNimation offered some kind of program to get a matching slipcover for the 1.11 BD. The inconsistency is pretty glaring.

Re: (US) Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind

For whatever it's worth, we could try writing letters to Buena Vista on the lossless issue for Ghibli releases. That's what I'm doing.

Utilizing BD Live for subtitle translations?

BD Live is definitely a concept lacking practical application. But I was thinking the other day: could it be used as a way of downloading subtitles? I mean, if subtitles are liberated from being a...

Re: Mushishi Blu-ray Box

I talked to the director, Nagahama, at SakuraCon this year, and he confirmed to me that the series wasn't produced in HD. So... definitely an upconvert.

Re: Hulu.com Launches Channel for Free, Legal Anime Streams

Why so confident? Broadcasters like CTV and Global are probably going to be a far greater hassle to deal with than any of the companies you named, and they're the main reason Hulu.com is being...

Re: Gurren Lagann, Vol.1 + Artbox (LE)

Geez, Bandai is actually doing this as a six volume release? They really need to get with the times - I was really hoping this show would be done in boxsets. As much as I love Gurren Lagann, I'll be...

Re: BD Review: Dragon Ball Z Movies: Dead Zone/World's Strongest

But despite this, they're not currently using alternate angles? What's the point of continuing to abstain from them if technical limitations are no longer a concern?

Re: BD Review: Dragon Ball Z Movies: Dead Zone/World's Strongest

Is FUNimation using alternate angles on their Blu-Ray discs? Or have they abandoned them in that format as well? I'm interested in knowing if they would bring about any significant drop in quality on...

Was RahXephon even produced in HD? I'm not sure if waiting for a Blu-Ray release would even be worthwhile.

Re: Bandai Entertainment @ NYCC 2008

Re: The Second (or Technically, Third) Coming of Bandai Ent.?

God, I'd love to see that. The question is: how would they be streaming it? Bandai doesn't exactly have a good track record in terms of the number of hoops you have to jump through for something...

Re: Links to the Two World Wide GONZO Shows--Made Just a Little Easier...

Do the ads show up for you all the time? It's good to know they're there, but I haven't seen one yet. They really need to get a more reliable system working for that.
