Re: TRSI / Nozomi Ent.'s next announcement is ???

Can't say I'm even remotely interested in a dub-only edited and cut version of this.

I'd rather see an uncut subtitled only Japanese version, as the obvious reason for the non-inclusion of Japanese...

Re: [US] Ghastly Prince Enma Burning Up

I really wish all US anime licensors would flat out refuse to ever agree to a locked subtitles arrangement. Not only does it force them as condition of license to cripple the product, but a minor...

Re: TRSI / Nozomi Ent.'s next announcement is ???

I do hope they start doing blu-ray soon. DVD-only is fine for putting out an old SD series from 6+ years ago, but simply won't do for anything more recent.

Re: [US] Persona 4: The Animation

Good to see the video quality is respectable. Too bad the product is dead on arrival. If Sentai is ever able to restore the Japanese audio onto these discs, I'd probably get that, but I'd never waste...

Re: Martian Successor Nadesico: Complete Collection

It looks kinda weird.[/quote]

There's a reason it looks weird: It's the cover of the CD single (http://www.shop-yamada.com/ab/CDSP-KIDA-159.htm) for Gekiganger III (catalog...

Re: Sentai Filmworks licenses Persona 4: The Animation

Not sure of Sentai's own position in this case, it seems their hand was forced by paranoid Japanese licensors. I would strongly advise Sentai to delay this release if they feel JP audio can be...

Re: [US] bunny drop (Usagi Drop)

Usagi Drop is obviously awesome. Seems NIS may have underestimated it's awesomeness or they'd have made more. Hooray for adorable anime! :D

Re: Is This a Zombie? (Season 1)

Funimation would do better to delay this until they can get blu-ray. DVD-only just doesn't cut it anymore for any current release that has an HD master.

Re: bunny drop: Complete Series Premium Edition (Blu-ray / DVD Combo)

I don't really feel like paying an extra $17 for a magnet frame so I'm staying with my TRSI pre-order. ($12.91 CDN standard shipping + $4 higher base price) vs. TRSI free shipping. Looks nice though.

Re: Boogiepop Phantom (TV): Complete Collection (Keepcase)

I bought this series when it first came out, contained a number of visual edits (for translating signs, slates, JP credits replaced by English, etc), but I was wondering if this new release uses the...

Re: Why doesn't FUNimation use video branching on Blu Ray?

Coming up on the 4th year since Japanese became inconspicuously missing from their home video releases, I can only say, I hope to see Japanese credits start appearing on their blu-ray.

Re: RightStuf's Nozomi Ent Announces MARTIAN SUCCESSOR NADESICO Complete Collection L.E. on DVD for Sept. 2012

I wonder if the contract would prohibit them from fixing any fixable errors in the video stream? They are *in theory* re-encoding anyway, and if it's a interlacing/field swapping problem which is...

Re: Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo boxsets

Nice

I am always floored by the extent to which they really *do* seem to care what a single fan, or some fans, might think.

As far as I know, this *is* probably the first time it's ever happened...

Re: [US] bunny drop (Usagi Drop)

Did NISA ever release anything hard subbed? (or otherwise prohibit turning subs off on a BD?)

I was not aware that this was ever a worry, at least at NISA. :shy:

Re: Bakuman to end its run in WSJ in 2-weeks

Ha, when I read the thread title I thought WSJ was "Wall Street Journal". I can just imagine the corporate suits eager with anticipation for the final chapter. :P

Re: [US] Squid Girl

Amazon.com is indicating "In Stock" on this item, but I too have it ordered at RightStuf and it's still showing "On order from manufacturer".

Hopefully it won't be too much longer.

Re: [US] Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt

Looks like Funimation *intends* to get a BD out, but Kadokawa are being dicks about it (refer to some of the other threads about this issue).

Hope Funi can breakthrough on this and get a BD release...

Re: Sentai Filmworks licenses Psychic Squad (Zettai Karen Children)

I personally hate it when the opening is redone in English. Good on Sentai for keeping the Japanese karaoke. I'm quite sure Japanese (R2) DVD releases often retain these as well, so I fail to see the...

Re: Kadokawa and their International Blu-Ray Debacle

I never buy anything that's been obviously gimped for whatever reason, and when it comes to high definition anime, I won't be buying anything until a BD version becomes available. I hope others do...

Re: Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo boxsets

[Hyb] or [S] would clearly be incorrect labels because there's no subtitles.

For what it's worth, when I catalog my own anime in Excel, I use a system like this: A: JP, EN; S: EN (which is...

Re: Sentai Filmworks licenses Psychic Squad (Zettai Karen Children)

I've come to accept a certain degree of macroblocking on openings so long as the rest of the show looks fine. There's usually a lot of motion going on at any given time during the opening sequence.

Re: [US] K-ON! Season 2

Excellent news! Now I really hope Sentai goes back and does K-On! Season 1 on Blu-ray. It seems entirely plausible that a Sentai first season would have Tsubasa-o kudasai instrumental untouched, and...

Re: Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo boxsets

I don't like the way this is worded.

One of my pet peeves about the US industry (especially kids targetted releases), is companies even when they have access to Japanese audio, but can't...

Re: Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo boxsets

At least Japanese audio is on there.

I get the feeling this PR statement deliberately omitted crucial details. Is it that they couldn't be *bothered* to produce subtitles? Or did TOEI forbid them...
