Re: The OAVs/Omakes on R1 DVD Thread

The collected Wedding Peach edition had Angel Robo and maybe something else missing, I believe.

Magic Knight Rayearth only had *some* of the "who will it be" segments, but I believe the new release...

Re: Discotek Media's next OVA series license is ???

My guess was Cutey Honey, given that 1) Discotek tends to license things from Toei, and 2) it's the only item in Wikipedia's list of Toei anime that is an OAV, falls under "so bad it's good", and is...

Re: Discotek Licenses Captain Harlock

I hope there's some way they can get the old Ziv dubs of Harlock. They're legendary, and actually pretty important to the history of the series in America, even if they were only 4 episodes.

Re: Sentai Filmworks licenses Mouretsu Pirates

Because everyone knows what a Mouretsu is.

I hope this is one of the cases where the Japanese insist on a stupid title, and even then, it's still a stupid title.

Re: "Trigun: Badlands Rumble" in Theater This Summer!

I watched this in an actual theater in Atlanta (and had flashbacks to watching one of the old Streamline theater releases, especially since the theater also had four 1980's arcade games in it). It...

Re: TRSI / Nozomi Ent. Acquires Original Dirty Pair movie/OVAs, Dirty Pair Flash, Gasaraki, Nadesico (TV/movie), Gekiganger 3

Incidentally, I have vague memories that more than one Dirty Pair movie had a similar issue, but the only one which I really knew about was Project Eden...

Re: Supernatural the Animation - home video release set for July

Well, it only says subtitles for the hard of hearing, and this is a release from a non-anime company, and releases from non-anime companies tend to dubtitle a lot.

Re: Section23 Films Announces August Slate

Night Raid has an episode 0, a special (takes place after 7), and an episode 14. Therefore, according to this description, they have left out a special episode.

Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya

I just saw this at NYCC/NYAF. It was very good. It was also very long; they had advertised it as taking up a 2 hour slot but in fact they didn't cut it at all and it lasted 2 hours and 45 minutes. ...

Re: Sentai and Funimation panels at Anime Weekend Atlanta

I asked if they were going to license rescue the Ghost Sweeper Mikami movie considering that they got the TV series. The answer:David Williams said he hadn't even though about that but now he'll...

Re: Fist of the North Star: The Movie (Re-release)

Yeah, but according to comment 2 above the one in the store might not include the fixes, cover or not... has this been confirmed or refuted yet?

Re: Would Little Norse Prince ever be released on DVD?

I wonder if Discotek would ever release it. It sounds like something they might do, considering they already released things like Animal Treasure Island and Puss and Boots.

Re: Fist of the North Star: The Movie (Re-release)

Well, I refused to buy this because of reports of the bad subtitles. Of course, I now want to buy one.

What can I do to be sure I get a copy of the fixed version?

Re: MangaBullet.com interviews Jimmy Taylor, Executive Producer of Anime Midstream!

Are we already forgetting the audio problems on the first disk? Just because the Anime on DVD review ignored them doesn't mean they didn't exist.

Re: Status of Case Closed, as per Adam Sheehan

We've seen this before for other series. If the license fees are too high for the sales, it's better off going unlicensed. That's the only way the Japanese companies are going to learn not to...

Re: Editorial: Honesty in Packaging

Well, consider this. What else is the information about upscales going to be used by the consumer for, except for the consumer to not buy the disk? As far as the company's concerned, the only...

Re: The Death of Anime

While that's not false, it weakens the original argument. That started out as "when you get anime in a way which reduces the author's and publisher's income, you are helping to kill the industry". ...

Re: The Death of Anime

But this is still true of the other methods, to a large degree. While rentals don't contribute nothing, they contribute, oh, maybe 5% of what an equal number of purchases do.

And they still...

Re: The Death of Anime

I'm going to point this out again: If you're complaining about this, you're not really just complaining about fansubs. There are legal methods of watching anime that result in content creators being...
