I'm kind of surprised it did so little. I would have thought Up would be more popular in Japan, given Russell. But I suppose it is only the first week. Also, I don't think this includes BD sales.
For whatever reason, Japan seems to like name changes when it comes to Western movies. Not sure why though. To me, at least, "Carl Jiisan no Sora Tobu Ie" isn't nearly as good as a title as "Up." But I'm also not Japanese. |
Just like Hollywood is allergic to movie titles longer than 3 words, Japan is allergic to titles that don't form complete sentences (or clauses).
Even "Seinfeld" was renamed "Tonari no Sainferudo" (The neighbor Seinfeld)
