It would, although I concur it is likely small. While I'm hesitant to call it a trend yet, it does appear that parts of the Japanese industry are experimenting with being more friendly to non-Japanese buyers (subtitles and importing titles to parts of Asia to sell directly). I definitely welcome it.

Uh, lots of late night anime sell well. In fact, the best selling TV anime since 2000 was late night. While being prime time certainly helps for more exposure, if the show is good enough, it will still sell regardless of the time slot.

Was the insult really necessary? I'd be highly surprised if otaku with tastes like mine had worse hygiene than people with your tastes in shows (who are, incidentally, still mostly otaku in Japan).

I can't explain to you why Dog Days would appeal to my segment of the market any more than you could explain to me why Production IG is popular. Well, I suppose I could try, but I'd have about as much success as explaining to the average American fan why K-On! is so popular. You either get it or you don't.

Amazon.jp is not the only store in Japan, and price is not the only factor. Plenty of otaku still buy stuff at Animate, etc. While I don't deny the Amazon trends are useful, it is only a small part of a much larger market.
