After 6 days, it's at least ¥400,000,000. Whether that means ¥400,000,000 or ¥499,999,999 I don't know, but probably closer to the former since days 4-6 were weekdays.

What's more interesting is the second statistic: related K-ON! goods have sold ¥28,000,000,000, aka 28 billion yen, aka about $360 million USD. I don't know what time period this is, but with an utterly gargantuan number like that I'm thinking it's got to be the sum of every piece of K-ON! merchandise ever sold. We're talking over a third of a billion dollars here.

Breaking it down a bit...
The DVDs and BDs for seasons 1 and 2 combined come to about ¥5.2 billion yen.
Figure there's got to be at an minimum 2 million CDs sold for another ¥3 billion yen, maybe.
Live event videos come to, very roughly, about ¥0.8 billion, maybe closer to ¥1 billion by now.
Movie earnings are at least ¥0.4 billion so far.

All comes to about ¥9.4 billion, at a really conservative estimate that undoubtedly undercounts.

But either way it shows the power of merchandise. That ~¥10 billion from DVD/BD/CD/Box office is still barely more than a third of what it's pulled in, assuming the ¥28 billion isn't already excluding any of the above. There's no way K-ON! isn't one of the most profitable otaku properties ever.

We do have a number actually, and a good bit higher than I'd guessed. Forget ¥600m, it's nearly ¥700m. ¥691,086,400 (almost $9m USD) to be more precise. It should breeze past Shoushitsu at this rate, which is damn impressive. ¥1bn really could be happening.

Third weekend brings total earnings to ¥943,034,250 after its third weekend. It must have passed ¥1,000,000,000 by now, and the holiday weekend is coming up. I think that officially puts it above everything from at least the last few years that isn't Evangelion or Shounen Jump/Conan/Ghibli/Pokemon-type stuff aimed primarily at younger kids, and it still has a good bit of life left in it, I'd think.

Here's some comparisons posted for other big movies (in units of 100m yen):

Evangelion 1.0 (Total 20)
*2.80→*7.25→10.35→12.95→14.75→16.05→16.95→17.45
Summer Wars (Total 17)
*3.70→*6.90→*9.30→11.10→12.6→13.6→14.3→15.2
FMA Shamballa (Total 13)
*2.25→*5.04→*7.23→*9.17→10.90
K-ON!
*3.19→*6.91→*9.43→11.39

Surprising how it's overtaken Summer Wars at an equivalent point, although I don't expect K-ON! to hit quite ¥1.7bn, let alone Eva's ¥2.0bn. Damnit I want to watch this movie.

Looks like it has topped 1 million admissions.

Update 2012-01-10
http://yaraon.blog109.fc2.com/blog-entry-6506.html
Total is now ¥1,455,230,000. It's on its way to 1.5 billion yen, giving far it more in common with the top tier of mainstream kids' movies than otaku fare. For comparison:
- I'm thinking beating Summer Wars (¥1.7bn) really is possible, though it might still be a little while.
- To put it another way, it could double Shoushitsu's total gross.
- Comparing apples to oranges a bit, if ¥1.45bn were the total disc sales of a TV anime, it would already be #21 since in the 2000-Present list, with just 110 minutes (~4.4 episodes) of animation. And it hasn't sold a single BD or DVD yet.
- This is roughly what a 2 cour TV series selling 20,000-25,000 (F/SN, Clannad, Railgun, Love Hina) per disc earns over its entire run, or a 1 cour TV series selling 30,000-35,000 (AB!, IS).

Total is ¥1,500,100,000, as of Monday, I believe. Slowing down a bit, but fantastic, the ¥1.5 billion mark!

Update 2012-02-14
http://yaraon.blog109.fc2.com/blog-entry-7353.html
More updates. Up to ¥1,650,000,000 after 72 days. Essentially tied with Summer Wars of all things.

Update 2012-02-28
http://yaraon.blog109.fc2.com/blog-entry-7692.html
Up to ¥1,690,000,000 after 86 days. Amazing, ¥1.7bn is guaranteed now. I wonder how much longer it'll be in theaters.

Update 2012-03-06
http://yaraon.blog109.fc2.com/blog-entry-7879.html
It's reported that the movie has now overtaken the ¥1,700,000,000 mark.
This apparently means it has officially topped Summer Wars. The only franchises to have a higher-grossing movie in the last five years (maybe longer?) are the usual mainstream "kids & family" movies: Ghibli, Pokemon, Doraemon, Conan, One Piece, Inazuma Eleven. Plus the decidedly not "kids & family" Evangelion.
Sure, K-ON! must have relied more heavily on repeat-viewings than those did, but that's just a measure of the love fans have for the series. And it's something no other late night anime can claim to have achieved, not to this degree at least.

Update 2012-05-01
http://yaraon.blog109.fc2.com/blog-entry-9197.html
Over ¥1,900,000,000 total? I... wow. It's nearly matched Evangelion 1.0. ::mind boggles::
