Due to the web volumes SAO is a unique beast, you can't compare it to normal novels, even western fans who read translated summaries of the web novels know more than Japanese fans who stick purely to the LNs, though of course I'm sure that amount is miniscule.
Like you mentioned in your earlier post, they will never hold a midnight opening, why would you when you can read the contents of the next 4-5 novels right now? If kawahara the gawd decided to extend SAO past his web versions... than maybe... we'll probably have another 2 anime seasons before it gets to that point anyway.
It's great that Kawahara was able to get a publisher to print his novels, but that just means it was a successful series prior to being animated just like Haganai
was, though its anime is much more successful sales-wise.. Suzuku was trying to say the adaptation
would be more successful than Haruhi
's was. I've given evidence in the post you quoted to say that the adaptation for Haruhi
boosted its novels higher in 3 months than Sword Art Online
The fact is that both series are successful, but Haruhi
has performed much better than Sword Art Online
has both in novel form and disc form upon being animated.
