Aniplex of America announced the release of a Baccano! Limited Edition Blu-ray Box Set for May 17, 2011. The collection will include 3 Blu-ray discs containing the entire 16-episode series and 3 special episodes, Japanese and English audio, Japanese- and English-language subtitles, textless opening and ending, exclusive new box art by Katsumi Enatsu (original novel illustrator), and exclusive new Blu-ray wrap art by Takahiro Kishida (character designer) for $69.98 SRP. From now through May 31, 2011, customers can purchase the set for $55.98 on our site, but we are required to bump the price up to $59.48 on June 1, 2011. Lulz, totally could tell this wasn't a FUNi release by the artwork. I find it sorta weird that Aniplex can do this though... feel sorry for FUNi in a way.

Definitely a buy for me... only $55! Not too bad, not too bad. I think Aniplex of America is getting smarter.

Is there some legitimate reason no one ever takes advantage of the amount of space on a blu-ray disc. I'm not a technical person, I wouldn't know.

The first thing that loads on the Japanese discs is a menu to choose English or Japanese. There's no reason to do that unless the intention is to reuse the same masters.

Well, now I regret getting the Japanese release. I thought this would be about $150.

At least now I know for next time.

I have it pre-ordered already. I love the artwork. It's definitely a lot cheaper than I thought it would be.
