FUNimation Entertainment Secures Baka and Test 2 and OVA’s

Flower Mound, TX (July 1, 2011) -- FUNimation® Entertainment has acquired digital, broadcast, home video and merchandise rights to the second season of the fantasy anime series “Baka and Test -- Summon the Beasts” (known in Japan as Baka to Test to Shokanju), as well as two OVA episodes, from Media Factory. The agreement also gives the American anime leader exclusive rights to the online simulcast of the series in the U.S., just days after the new episodes air in Japan starting this month.

FUNimation will deliver these high-quality, free, original Japanese dialogue accompanied by English subtitles, streaming episodes of “Baka and Test – Summon the Beasts 2” via www.funimation.com.

FUNimation will release the second season and the OVA’s on DVD and Blu-ray in 2012.

Like my Last Exile post, I loved the first season so much, this will more than likely be a blind buy, if I dont catch it while it airs. So happy to hear they announced the simulcast and BD release at the same time.

Then again, I havent bought season 1 yet because I'm being a crybaby about the packaging. But I'm slowly cracking, so maybe one day soon...

That said, i DID catch the simulcast, and loved the second season, perhaps even more than season one.

Very excited to grab this up.

I loved the first season and I'm excited to see the next season. I'm sad that this clearly wasn't a Big Seller for Funimation since the LE from Last summer is still widely available.

Meaning that if there is ever a 3rd season that it is unlikely to be picked up by them. At least that's the impression I've got. I have no real numbers to back my opinions up

What kind of overpriced crap is this? $35 for two 29 minute episodes? Ridiculous. Almost makes me want to cancel my season 2 order out of disgust.
