Hooooooly shit. Yes, that cover says what the title of this thread says. But the first post says something about now being 100% sure this isn't some kind of photoshop, so while it looks real this is way too major a news story to not put some kind of caveat in the title. Will gladly remove it when this is confirmed.

Now let's just hope they start working on it more than two months before theaters open, eh Shaft? (Negima movie reference to those unaware...)

Edit: Oh god, the big text says "Yakusoku dakara..." or "Because it was a promise...". Coupled with the cover image, I'm having amazing mental images of a Madokami/Homuhomu reunion, finally...

A movie? A retelling...or a sequel? If a sequel, then they should just an OVA.

Well, the only benefit of an OVA is that it'd be fansubbed soon after release and I'd be better able to avoid spoilers. Fuck, I have no idea how I'd go 8 months avoiding spoilers if it's a movie covering entirely new content. I'd have to blacklist the Madoka tag on danbooru at the very least.

I'm not sure that compilation movies are nearly as prevalent as the way that single movie/OVA announcement is met with "It's probably just a recap" concerns would imply. Could they? Sure, they could do anything. But it would be one of the most foolhardy moves in animation history if they squandered this opportunity on a recap movie. Madoka has immense potential as a major franchise, and following up the original anime with something as guaranteed to generate disappointment as a recap movie would be tantamount to suicide.

Heh, 2ch is scrutinizing the cover, trying to look for any sign of forgery. It looks like there's some suspicion about the "movie project" line but I don't know what the decision is. Well, we'll find out soon, won't we?

Edit: Looks like they're focusing on how that one line is different from the rest of the cover. Seems like... it's too "flat" to be part of the original image?

2ch stop being observational. Just let me think this exists for a while, that's all I ask. Seeing high budget Madoka Magica content is like a dream for me.

Not that Madoka Magica was bad looking, but it had hiccups in a few spots. Mostly when action or some kind of tense moment wasn't happening.
