Default Volume 1 details

From the volume 1 listing provided by WTK, here are the additional features included on volume 1:

The volume will have an illustration drawn by tanu on a digipak in a clear sleeve. Included inside the digipak will be an endcard illustration postcard and another postcard drawn by character designer Kanami Sekiguchi and art director Kazuki Higashiji, a 16 pg booklet entitled The Heart's Melody 1, and an event ticket to the event held on 9/30.

On the disc itself are two commentaries for episode 1 and the textless opening. The first commentary is a character commentary from Wakana Sakai (CV. Ayahi Takagaki), Konatsu Miyamoto (CV. Asami Seto), and Sawa Okita (CV. Saori Hayami). The second commentary features Supervisor Hashimoto and producers Kenji Horikawa and Takayuki Nagatani.

It's weird, I'm anticipating this show while also feeling 75% certain any romance in it will drive me crazy and make me drop it. If nothing else, the price isn't particularly good, though not unusually high either, so I guess it won't have a low price working in its favor.

Default Volume 2 Full Details

Volume 2 was just solicited on the official website. Releasing on October 3, this volume contains episodes 3 and 4. The LE BD cover art has a lovely image of Wakana and Sawa while the LE BD/DVD version is a picturesque view of the ocean with Konatsu. LE design (LE image on the left/CE image on the right)

The LE BD comes with 2 commentary tracks. Episode 3 has character commentary by Wakana (CV Takagaki Ayahi), Konatsu (CV Seto Asami), and Taichi (CV Shimazaki Nobunga). Episode 4 has staff commentary by Supervisor Hashimoto, Music Producer Saito Shigeru, and Music Scouter Kichie. This volume also comes with the non-text ending 1. As with the first volume, it comes with an ending illustration postcard and CE/DVD postcard that can be interchanged with the cover art in the digipack. It also comes with the second 16 pg. booklet The Heart's Melody 2.

Also Damius, here's your box! V2 LE BD will come with a box to hold all 6 volumes illustrated by tanu.

CE? Normally I would think that stood for "Collector's Edition" but that doesn't make sense here.

And that's a very nice cover.

So these are in-character commentaries, like Bakemonogatari?

Oh yay, a box! I didn't even really consider that it might get one. I just assume shows don't have boxes these days. Well, ones that don't require you to buy all of the volumes from Animate or some other specific store, which is a prohibitively expensive cost increase.

"Common Edition" I tend to inter-change it and "Regular Edition" often.

Yes. Just like the ones on the Hanasaku Iroha volumes (Minchi/Wakana's still makes me laugh).

Most do, but we're starting to see more publishers include them. I was shocked to see Hyouka have 4, but that could've been a KyoAni decision.

And now that it is almost certain that I'll pass on this... Oh well...
Maybe it would be a good idea to watch past episode 1 before jumping to those kinds of conclusions? Sure, a lot of people were taken aback by how much ground episode 2 covered (though I didn't mind it), but pacing hasn't been a problem since then. Maybe you won't like it enough to import, but I'm not sure how you went from "this show is a lock for import" a few days ago to "almost certain"ly passing when you've only seen one episode.
Well, you are probably right. The reason I passed from X to Y is because when I watched the first episode it reminded me of Hanasaku Iroha, but then when I heard fast-paced, I got "afraid" to like it less that I would have thought after episode 1. Since in Hanasaku Iroha one thing I really love is the fact that it's slow-paced. Another reason would be that since so much seems to be cover in 1 episode, it's possible that for the following episode I would say: "I would have like so much for them to get more time to let us know how they got there".
Definitely watch more. It was more a shock to me than anything. It's not a deal-breaker to me, but I can't deny that I wasn't disappointed. I personally feel the show could've gone in a different direction than what it did, but it's not bad at all.

I will definitely watch more. I hope to not be late like this for the following seasons to not have this kind of reactions again (reactions based on what I read and not what I watch). At least I'll be able to catch up in the following 2-3 weeks for every show.
