Edit: Okay, I've calmed down somewhat. Time to provide actual details on this great awesomeness that the great Lord has bestowed upon us. :D

Stranger -Mukoh Hadan-

Blu-ray Disc
April 11 2008
1 x BD-50 (102 mins feature), 1 x BD-25 (73 mins extras)

Feature: TrueHD 5.1, LPCM 2.0
Extras: LPCM 2.0, DD2.0

Extra contents: Making of Stranger, TAF 2002 Pilot Film, Trailers, Cast Interviews, Special Key Frame Photography Feature, Storyboards (still images), Selected Storyboard and Key Frame comparisons (still images), Complete Screenplay Reproduction (still images), Design Works (still images).

Bonus: Full color 12 page booklet

All this for 10290yen is a steal compared to the DVD LE release which is 9240yen for a 3 disc set that includes the same amount of content. The only advantage to that is that it has the storyboard book physically instead of on disc. BUT OMG HD BONES GOODNESS NAKAMURA POWER OMGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!! INFISNFIAJDIAJDOIA Oh dear I need my medication again!!! T_T

My guess is that it will have an English sub for sure if it will be released later in the US, just like WOH's release.

Do you think that this could be one of those titles hinted in the Bandai Visual USA open letter (about simultaneous releases)?

I hope to God that it is. I don't wanna have to wait for this, so a simultaneous release makes my buying decision much easier.

You think that if Japan was serious about branching out into other countries. They would cut out the middle man and provide subtitles for there titles. At that price they could afford it. But I guess they dont care about expanding there business.

If people didn't use no subtitles as a reason not to buy, they most definitely would use the price as a reason not to buy.

I think at this point we've realized that Bandai Visual Japan doesn't give a shit about English speaking audiences. That's just too bad.

I wouldn't spend $100 on a 100min movie anyways...

Except that BVJ's prices are pretty much on par with all of the other Japanese vendors. It's only BV USA that isn't on par with other R1 companies.

And since the products are sold in Japan for a Japanese audience, why should they care? At least that's been the thinking, it seems, that permeates all of the Japanese video industry. DVDs have been around for 10 years. Japanese films are just now, on rare occasion, getting English subtitles. I'd say there are more subtitled Japanese DVDs today then there was 5 yrs ago, but it's still a far cry from subs on everything. And what has changed? DVD sales have slumped so I guess it's now an attempt to get wider range of sales; worldwide instead of regional.

At least they've provided subs (and dubs) on R2 releases when they are available to them, such as Patlabors, Jin-Roh and so on.
