In regards to the idea of needing to check out the notes to get enjoyment out of the jokes. I will concede that having a better understanding of things would put the humor in a clearer light. Still I was able to get enough enjoyment out of it even with my limited understanding of the subject.
Also to be honest, I never really liked the idea of constantly checking the notes while reading. As it only results in making reading more tedious for me. I much prefer to just read through the main book first and then check out any notes the said book has. It's probably a given that my opinion on the manga is extremely positive. I was already interested in it thanks to the formula of "Female Art Students + 4 Koma". All I needed was a reminder that the manga was licensed and to be told the volume was out. I had high hopes for the manga and it definitely did not disappoint. I like all five girls so far and it's fun watching them interact with each other. My favorite of course being Oomichi ~Professor~ Miyabi. Noda Mika is also kind of nice as well. As are the other three. I'm definitely looking forward to both volume 2 of the manga and the start of the anime. The latter of which needs to put up an official site already, but that's another story.

The art-talk was a bit impenetrable at times, especially early on. As the book went on, though, it either got easier to ignore or wasn't as prevalent. I'm not sure which.
But it gave the world the gift of Noda, which is good enough for me. |

Having generated the exuberant unofficial discussion thread, I'll pop in here to reiterate my love for this series, be it the art references and jokes (some of which hit very close to home
) or the bizarre antics of the cast. The publishing history of the series does result in the first portion being a bit uneven, in and of itself, as well as compared to the rest of the book, but it's all still good. Go go, Yen Press! ![]()
