Post The Big Anime Sex Talk

You knew this was coming. After all, you've reached the age where you've become curious about what kind of entertainment anime can provide you with beyond mech battles and robot ninjas. And it's far better you learn about this kind of thing from someone you trust instead of a mainstream news soucre, most of which don't tend to scrape far below the surface when compiling information about strange hobbies from Japan...

To Nadia: I have to wonder why you brought up moe - as you even pasted, moe has nothing to do with sex at all. That's like trying to imply that someone who likes pictures of puppies is into bestiality sex.

If you want to go after pedophiles, you might want to aim at lolicon hentai anime and manga instead, as that's where the real issue lies.

I find a lot of good points to be made on this.

Personally I've always found it to be a bit disturbing that a surprising amount of people associate anime with porn, almost exclusively and "they" aren't anime fans.

They get all bleary eyed and confused when they gather the courage to ask me about porn and how much of it permeates my anime collection, and I tell them the truth. Out over 850 DVDs I have one anime-porno. They they ask why or tell me that I must be lying . . . I then explain to them, "Sex is just not a spectator sport."
The concept of porn is kind of more about frustration from my point of view. The way I think of it, you take a perfectly good looking woman or in the case of anime "female character", you get her out of her clothes. Being your average kind of guy, This is the part of the concept I like.
Then they send some half naked guy in there to screw her brains out, and at this point I loose interest. I guess I have an aversion to seeing a guy's ass and penis hanging out, regardless of where he ends up sticking it.
I have this idea in my head that this is some kind of throw-back to the days of the primal man, some kind of wolf-pack mentality that the guys further down the pecking order seem to be happy to watch the big dog banging away. I guess I am too much of a tiger to "get it", it just seems stupid to me.
After I tell people this they just seem kind of lost, like I'm from some other world, I almost feel kind of like I took a dump on their BBQ, like they were expecting something hideously evil and they got Opey from the Andy Griffith Show.

I tend to think that illustrated or animated porn is less of "sin" or detriment to society. After all anime, whether it's porn or not is still an illustration. I believe I was reading an article not too long ago about Japan's lower abuse and rape rates in spite of the prevalence of porn in their society. Although I could not confirm such a statement at this time.

Live-action porn is still someone's daughter, You just can't get around that, no matter how you rationalize it.

There is still the personal matter of just "what is porn". I know some people that would peruse a website like mine and say there is nothing pornographic about it and others that would say it is all porn.

As for deeper thoughts about it . . . I cannot speak from a woman's point of view, nature has made that kind of hard to do.
I can say this, I find an interestingly large number of girls that hot link some rather provocative images off of my website and others, for their blog-page backgrounds and signatures . . . I'm not too sure what to think of that, good or bad.

Getting deeper into ethics of this might prove to be going against the posting codes, so I think I'll stop here . . . for now.

Tentacle rape and moe fetishism are all she covered... how is this any more relevant than the MSNBC article? Fail.

Agreed with the rest of you, article fails. How do you talk about sexual feelings for children without mentioning "lolicon" once, and instead jump into "moe"? Same old same old, though this time they can't claim "mainstream media" ignorance.

Uh..bad example! Betty Boop was the classic flapper of the 1930s. Sticking with classic, Tex Avery women. Going to Hannah Barbera, Daphne in Scooby Doo.

Jessica Rabbit (Who Framed Roger Rabbit) or Holly (Cool World) are better modern cartoon characters. Back further I guess females in the anime shows adapted & edited for kids might qualify.

Chris, is Nadia an AoD or Mania reviewer?
