jlazar: Viz had it, and lost it, and now Vertical's got it.

Also, ShinChan's now from DC/CMX. While the content is not edited, some of the pop culture references have been Americanized, curse words have been added, and some Japanese in-jokes[Engrish and Ken Takakura in volume 2] seen in the Comics One editions may not make the final cut.

Oh, and I don't consider Berserk to be edited, but sometimes they insert references to Western pop culture like Evil Dead and LOTR.

Having seen a review copy of the first GN of Slam Dunk, I can confirm that the panel in question is not censored.
that is good

Not really an "edit", per se, but they inserted a line from Dirty Dancing in one of the new chapters in Slam Dunk in the new U.S. Jump.

I don't like it, but at least it's not an anachronism from an era after Slam Dunk like the Toei translations for the anime had.

Also, can anyone confirm if the hand-stand Lisa is doing in Bleach has been edited to cover up her underwear?

If it was in SJ, then it probably was, usually the GNs uncensor things.

Do not make assumptions, it only stirs the pot. If you've got the original to compare, feel free to respond, otherwise, it's really not necessary.

Is it me or does it seem like things have calmed down now on the editing front. Yen Press have been perfect, Del Rey continue the trend, and Dark Horse have remained spotless (since they changed). Nothing has been reported on Tokyopop, and Viz seem to have had a good year. I just feel in general things are looking up. Black Lagoon seemed to come out without a hitch, everything's just great =)

I really hope the only updating this thread needs is to say volume "x" has been fixed in a second edition, if and when that ever happens.

I don't intend to micromanage discussions around here, but please, let's not stir the pot here. You're right that things have calmed down in the last couple of years, but I don't think we don't need to continue talking about a subject that only brings out the worst in people when nothing is happening.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Which is a good thing, or course! This is the one forum you don't want to see a lot of traffic on!

I do hope this trend continues (I sure all of us have grown weary with the editing) so maybe, one day, we can just purchase a R1 manga off the shelves without going online for a content review first.
