Crunchyroll License List

Since no one else has posted this, I figured I would. Starting January 8, 2009, Crunchyroll will remove all of their unlicensed content, and only stream licensed, legal content. They have already signed contracts with TV Tokyo, Gonzo, Pony Canyon, Toei Animation, and apparently others. They have also already announced 5 titles that will be airing on the website, and they say that by Januray 8th, they will have upward of a hundred titles. Also, they offer an ad suported model and a subscription model. Anyways, I will be adding titles to this post as they are announced.

NOTE: Items without a link are not available on Crunchyroll yet.

These are the titles I am most interested in, although at least some I already know are not available in my region and the others quite likely won't be either (Kite and Girl's High are region locked on ANN, SAK and Kaleido Star are/were ADV titles and never released on DVD in the UK). I may never get around to watching them anyway, as I seem to have some irrational aversion to streamed anime, or maybe just to Crunchyroll (as I downloaded and watched Strike Witches via BOST).

I tried the first episode of Steel Angel Kurumi this afternoon (the first four are up), and it streamed just fine for me in the UK.

Almost all of there titles should work everywhere except for some countries in Asia. All the new titles will follow this new rule. As for titles that were licensed before their new announcement, I'm not sure if those will become international or not. But, I do know that all future licenses will be international. This, of course, includes all of the TV Tokyo and Pony Canyon titles.

Wow, seriously? That's actually pretty sweet. I've heard good things about both, so I'll be checking these out for sure.

Toei especially seems to be going an interesting route with their properties. Pretty Cure is streaming with subs and it will soon be shown dubbed on TV. But no DVDs? Seems like they missed that step? Or maybe they figure they can get enough revenue without DVDs?

If the show gets good ratings, THEN they will put out DVDs (with the help of another company, of course).

Maybe you could add placeholder for one "Unannounced" license under TV Tokyo, since CrunchyRoll and TV Tokyo have confirmed that they're going to have exactly 5 licenses beginning in January?

Well, I'll add it for now. They should be announcing the rest of their licenses within the next couple weeks anyways.
