$6.95 a month preorder, or only $60 for an entire year.
Interesting. I wonder if they'll be upping the quality of their download-to-own files as well... that to me is what matters more.

Frankly, if the streams are highere quality than the download to own, why don't people just capture the streams?

I'm sure there are firefox plugins that'd do it... Although if the subtitles are soft subs (done with their online player) then it might be a bit tricky to rip the stream with the subtitles.

If they're streaming at a higher quality than the downloads they're charging (likely more for at that), then that's definitely an option. I'd hope they'd be smart enough to be giving people the option of the higher-quality downloads, since by and large I'd imagine we pay more for those per episode than the premium streams...

I'm curious whether they'll be pushing to up the quality for the rest of the shows they have as well. I'd love higher quality versions of Linebarrels, and if Eve no Jikan (though it'll be like 5 bloody months until the next installment... ) was animated at a higher res having it better quality would be beautiful as well.

Default ICv2 Interview with Cruncyroll

ICv2 has posted an interesting interview with one of the founders of Crunchyroll. There really isn't much there that we don't already know. I do find it interesting how much more professional Crunchyroll came across in this interview than they did in the one with Zac (or certainly Shinji). I wonder if their website persona will ever change in tone? As an adult, I guess, I sort of find it patronizing.^^U In any case, their business speak certainly has.

The first 8 episodes of Shippuden are up on crunchyroll now, along with a few of the others that are from the TV Tokyo deal. I checked out the first episode, and the video quality is resonably good on the 480p option. The subtitles are also of a decent quality, and seem to follow Viz's style.

Overall, I'm quite pleased with it.

Will all they do is put up 8 eps a week until they are caught up? So new eps won't be seen until April or are they going to put up new eps day and date and just fill in the other missing eps as time goes on?

The latter. The next time Shippuden airs, it should be on Crunchyroll 1 hour afterwards (for premium members, anyway).
